Very nicely made boot!
I bought this boot which I really liked. Unfortunately I was unable to zip it up over all my layers no matter how loose I made the laces. That being said, I have a plate and rod in my left leg from an accident and that contributed to the problem I believe. The boot was well made and fashionable.

Great so far, but order 0.5 size up
I've only had these a little bit over a week, but so far I love them. My feet have stayed warm and dry in snow and 29 degree weather.
My only advice at this point is to order 0.5 size up from your normal Ariat. I wear area cowboy boots and paddock boots and I have always been a size 7. I ordered the size 7 of these and while they fit the left foot was really tight. So I ordered a seven and a half and they are perfect in every way. They were basically broken in when I bought them and have had no issues whatsoever with break-in.
I will try to update this review after I've had them for some time.
P.S. SmartPak has THE BEST customer service ever!

Not ready for prime time
I bought these boots because they look like they have the features I need in a winger boot: great insulation, adjustable front, a zipper, the Ariat foot, good style. These arrived, and are going back. First of all, I wear a firm 7.5 and I ordered up a size. with my thinnest socks, they are still too small. The ankles are really narrow. Second, the zipper is really wonky. I could;d not zip them up, and the reason was that Ariat has put a small pull inside the boot to pull the boot on and this gets in the way of the zipper EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. I tried my hardest, since so many features are right, but these boots are going back in the box, and back to Smart Pay. Ariat would do well to fix this zipper problem. This boot is almost there, but as I say, will be a source of frustration for anyone who hates fighting with zippers on cold days.

Great shoe
I bought this shoe a few weeks back and I love it. It is stylish, very comfortable, fits great and warm too. I wear it the first time and got asked about it three times that day. It is very comfortable to wear all day, I even use it to go walking with the dog. I am very happy about it!

Beautiful boot but hurts my feet and still cold
This boot is so dang beautiful and I get lots of compliments on it, but after having them awhile I’ve come to realize they are not very comfortable nor do my feet stay warm in them. I can’t wear them while doing chores where I walk up and down a hill, because they shift a bit and I get blisters. And I’ve worn them in winter durning some long day rides and my feet still freeze. I had already stretched them out and dirtied them up, otherwise I would have returned them. At least they are beautiful but somewhat disappointing-at least for me and my feet.

Love these boots!
I bought they boots back in November of 2018 and soooo glad I did! I’m harsh on my boots and shoes in general. I walk hard and I clean stalls, ride, etc. these boots have kept my feet warm and held up wonderfully! I’m going to admit, they’re definitely not meant for warm weather unless you love to sweat to death, but they’re really warm in -5 to -10 weather or when you have to go and get the horses in during an unexpected snow storm!
If you work hard and want a quality winter boot, these are it.

Simply the Best!
I waffled about buying these boots, but bought them about a month ago and couldn't be happier. They were expensive, but are so incredibly versatile; I ride in them, wear them out socially, even to my office job. Comfy from the get go and warm (maybe the only drawback - I won't be able to wear them all year round). If you're not sure if you should buy these, go ahead - they're worth it!

I bought these over a year ago and LOVE them! They are extremely comfortable during long rides and are so comfy I don't mind working on the ground with them for hours. The calf size is fully adjustable with the laces. This way, I can wear with riding pants or jeans. The back zipper runs all the way down, making them very easy to get on and off. They still look new after a year and I constantly get compliments on them. I've worn these in all seasons... they are warm in winter! This is an AWESOME boot that is WORTH THE MONEY! Think about how many years you'll have them ... And skip the boot jack!!!

Lovely Boots! I ended up having to size down.
I wanted to post this review because I originally ordered my normal size. I am almost always a size 8. I wear size 8 Ariat paddock boots. I ordered these in a size 8 and I felt like my feet were swimming. The calf was too wide even cinched up all the way (I have pretty narrow calves). My heel was sliding out of the boot as I walked and I figured maybe they were just bulky winter boots and that's how they were supposed to fit. Most of the other reviews suggested sizing up. I called Smartpak and they recommended I try the 7.5. I'm so glad I did! The fit was so much better. Snug on my foot but I still have room to wiggle my toes. The calf felt a bit more narrow too even though the size chart says it's the same. I don't like to wear heavy socks even in winter. I just wear normal cotton or light wool socks. I am hoping these boots will keep my feet toasty and dry!

I thought I had “quality” boots until...
I am so glad I saved up for these boots!!! I had horz brand tall boots for a few years now and thought why would I spend way more on a pair of tall boots when the ones I had are just as good as these. Well, I have been reminded of the old saying, “You get what you pay for,” when I got these. Because let me tell you, these boots are top notch!!! I could look at these all day long because they’re beautiful too. Ariat has finally hit a homerun with these. I remember the days when Ariat used to be just a western wear company and now I believe they are actually better in their English dept. I own a pair of western Ariat boots but they still don’t hold up as well as my Rocky’s do. Sorry Ariat, but I had to say it. I am amazed by the shear quality these boots have. Grant it, these are literally only the second pair of tall boots I’ve owned. But when you’re going from $90 run of the mill boots to these, the feel in quality is bar none. You will probably cry a little inside and so will your feet when you ride in them. But they will be tears of joy, I promise you. I was convinced that all tall boots were uncomfortable to walk in and were only designed for being in the saddle when worn but not with these. I could probably play football with no socks in these things. I love love love that you can adjust you’re entire leg with the laces. Finally a riding with laces! That was no joke, the number one reason I wanted these.
Here’s where I explain why I can’t give it five stars however. I do wish they rounded the top to be a little bit more higher on the outer part of the leg to finish off that classic riding boot that actual riders know and recognize. I don’t feel like these could be shown in because they’re lacking that “look” up there. I know the idea behind Ariat was to make it more fashionable to people who probably don’t ride or so you can wear these out on the town. But it’s just too flat up top in my opinion. They remind me too much of the Dubarry’s and I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of those, never have been. Never quite understood that hype. I’ve also noticed (and it could be because they are almost a hair too tall for me) the top bends outward a little. I’m hoping with wear that the point where the ankles are will shrink the boot down just enough to not make that happen. I think they will like they’re supposed to, but time will tell. Oh but I do love boot trees they come with. I’m a happy rider again.

Good looking boot
I just got these for Christmas and they are a good looking boot. I went riding in them for the first time today and there were pluses and minuses. I found no matter how tight I cinched the laces, I could not make them tight enough over breeches and they still gaped at the top. I wear an xs tall in Ariat 1/2 chaps and could not make these fit snuggly. The sole of the boot is also much more substantial than in my ariat paddock boots, so there is less feel of the stirrup, but I had no trouble keeping my heel down. These boots were comfortable right out of the box and I like them, but I wanted to love them.

Worth every penny!
I splurged on these to replace my old Ariat winter boots and they do not disappoint. The second day out of the box I wore them for 12 hrs straight walking around in Portland ME through slush and puddles. Haven’t ridden in them yet, but these are fabulous boots! I usually wear an 8 in Ariat, (81/2 normally) and went with the 9 and they fit perfect.

Best Boots I've Ever Bought
These were easily the most comfortable boots I have ever purchased. I put them on right away, and the fit was good. I had a slight rub on the left heel for about two hours and then they gave and wear perfectly. They're durable and quality all over. They're awesome in the barn and for riding, protecting me well against briars today in the thick Mississippi woods. I wore spurs on them today for western riding and they were so comfortable. I'm so happy with this purchase. The fit was as expected, and accomodated thick wool socks. I even splashed through puddles without a thought and kept super dry. If you're considering these boots, get off the fence and buy. You won't be sorry.

Great for slim calves
I have very slim calves and have had trouble finding a winter boot that fit well but the laces on the Ariat Conistons make them very adjustable. I can get them snug though I did need to buy shorter laces. I am just under 5'5" and the height is fine for me though they might be short for a taller rider. The leather is very soft and flexible and as a dressage rider I do prefer a stiffer winter boot, but these are warm, waterproof, have a great sole/footbed and actually fit. I am always a size 8 in Ariats but I needed to go up a 1/2 size in these to be able to wear a wool sock.

GREAT QUALITY!!
I purchased these boots December 2017 and LOVE them!! I didn't like the price tag but if they last like my Ariat paddock boots (5 years) then it will be worth it. I wanted flexibility in the calf size.
I wear them to the barn, ride in them and wear them to work at times. They are warm and comfortable. They do take a little to break in but over all I am extremely happy with the product.

Love these boots. Supper comfortable!
I bought these boots for running around and wearing out. And I love them. They are supper comfortable and look great. They are similar to tall boots in that the ankles need to break in before they are 100% ready for anything. I haven’t ridden in them and don’t plan to but I think they would be nice for pleasure riding. And they are warm as well, I live in Michigan and don’t need to have toe warmers with while wearing these boots. I was worried about the size but ordered what I normally wear and they are perfect. I would definitely buy these again.

Best boots ever - but color not as shown
I almost returned these boots because I wasn't crazy about the color (the pic makes them look black with smooth, cognac brown trim, but they are actually a dark chocolate brown with milk chocolate nubuck-type trim) and I was agonizing over spending the money for winter boots in Georgia. . . Well, the weather turned ugly and I have lived in these boots for the past month! So glad I kept them! They broke in immediately and I can wear them all day long and still have warm, happy feet. They are extremely well made with a comfortable foot bed, interior pull tab at the ankle to help you get your heel down, and a heavy duty zipper. The full laces allow you to fit the boot to your leg perfectly. The quality of the leather, stitching and lining is fantastic. Once again, Ariat did not disappoint! I just wish they were actually black. . .

LOVE these boots
Where to start - they are phenomenal. They are warm, practical and stylish to boot (!!) The zipper with the lace up feature is great - I can easily and quickly adjust from wearing skinny jeans to heavier winter jeans or breeches. They are completely water proof as I found the second day I wore them when we got 2 feet of snow and I easily trudged through the pasture without getting wet or cold feet/legs. I have ridden in them and they were less bulky than my MH winter boots, however, the upper inner part where it is brown got worn a little so I don't think I'll do it again. It looks cool though :) They are really stylish - I even had a woman stop me in the grocery store to compliment them. They seem pricey, but the quality is excellent and they easily transition from barn to the 'real world,' and I'm sure they will last for a long time.

HIGH QUALITY, GREAT FIT!
Well, there you have it, Ariat has created the perfect boot! Warm and insulated without being too thick and bulky. Fully customizable through ankle and calf. Fashionable both at the barn and out in the "normal people world". I wear a 7.5 sometimes an 8 and I bought the 7.5. It's perfect, roomy like an 8 but not too big. Worth the price tag!
