Rated 3 out of 5 by from 45 min in them and I think I'm bleeding I just got these in the mail today. Much like another poster, I've had a nightmare finding boots that fit with ariat. I originally set out to buy Monacos but just my luck the original ones are now discontinued and I don't like the non traditional look of the new ones. I stepped down and ordered the Quantum Pros which had a great feel to the leather but I was having trouble with fit since one of my legs is a regular calf and the other is just slightly big enough to need a full. It was recommended I drop down again to these. I wasn't happy about losing quality but these have the elastic panel that allowed me to fit into the regular calf. I am interested to see how the leather breaks in but as of right now, I'm not impressed at all. the leather around the top is stiff and sharp and I'm waiting for the backs of my knees to start bleeding and haven't even ridden in them yet!I have very skinny ankles and also agree they seem boxy and are lacking the tapered and contoured ankle of the Monaco, Quantum and even Tredstep. I like the idea of the reinforced spur rests but they also seem as they may add unnecessary bulk.If I didn't have such a killer coupon from Ariat, I probably would have gone with a different brand once I couldn't get the Monacos or Quantum. I think if you can deal with the initial pain, the added elastic is a good option for someone who is hard to fit or may be on the cusp of sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love LOVE! I have had these boots FOREVER. I absolutely love love love these boots. They are so comfortable. I wear an 8 Med. Reg. and they fit like a glove. They are a little bunchy around the ankle and if I don't wear some thicker socks it pinches a little, but luckily the socks don't have to be too thick. I plan on getting a second pair soon so I can have a pair for shows and a pair just to ride in. These boots give me a great grip in the saddle and help keep my lower leg from swinging. They also offer a consistent contact along the side of the horse. The leather is so soft as well and as far as I can remember their break-in time was almost nonexistent. Completely smitten with these boots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boots for price Great price, but spent about 40% more on a better fit boot. I wanted a boot that fit like a glove. These boots almost did but were a little "boxey" at the ankle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Totally gorgeous but I'm having fit issues My boot saga is just so sad. I bought these originally from another shop in 8.5, tall, slim calf. I was instantly obsessed. I've never had boots soooo soft right out of the box. Seriously, swoon. And the footbed is weirdly comfortable.I'm 5'9 with long legs and a short torso, 14" calves. They fit amazingly but one boot's zipper wasn't working well so I returned and they were out of stock for replacement. SmartPak had them in stock but unfortunately the calf was too tight in the same size. I switched to regular calf which was great but then the foot/ankle felt too big. So I Switched to size 8 and the foot length was perfect but had pressure on the top of my foot that was numbing. I probably should have got big socks and stuck with it but I'm in Florida so that seemed too hot. I told you my story was sad!I just ordered the Volant S because someone said the foot is wider so maybe the 8 will be ok in that boot. But I do really encourage trying these, they would be so amazing. I might just have weird feeties. I could see easy break in and all day wear being comfortable.I never ordered boots from smarkpak before and they've been insanely nice and refunded the returns quickly (I reorder rather than exchange to save time). Shipped quickly, arrived safely.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too big Had to return these and was super disappointed because I love Ariat. Love their western boots. I also have a pair of paddock boots and half chaps that fit perfectly and are so comfortable. So when it was time to get tall boots, I was dead set on getting Ariats. So I ordered the wide calf, short boots and my calves and ankles were swimming in them. I tried the regular at a tack store and I couldn't zip them up. I don't get why they don't have more calf options for the short height. I am a size 7, 14.5 calf, and they only make 13 3/8 or 15. Where's 14?? Had to settle with Tredsteps. Looked like great boots, but too bad they didn't fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will never stray from these boots again I bought a pair of these boots for schooling and a pair of treadstep davincis for showing. Needless to say, I hate the treadstep boots and love these Ariats ! I had an older version of this boot that lasted me 5 years of riding in them everyday so I am not sure why I strayed in the first place! These boots took me less than 5 rides to break in and I did not need any heel lifts or gel bands. The leather is super soft and due to the stretch panel they end up fitting like a glove and looking like custom boots.I am 5'7" and long legged so I went with the tall- they did drop more than the Treadsteps but still are a perfect height. I had always be end a regular calf in my former Ariats but ended up going with the slim calf. Can't say enough good things about these boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Tall Boots ever! I've always had trouble finding tall boots that fit me just right. I bought theses at a local tack store because they fit me just right in the calf and in the foot. I have a really wide calf so finding tall boots that aren't custom but feel as if they are a custom fit is wonderful! I can't say how well they hold up, but reading other reviews I think these will last at least 3 years like my Mountain Horse did.
