Love these!
I just replaced these after my old ones gave out! They lasted me 5 years! Great quality, and hold up really nicely. They should be tight when you first get them as they stretch out a fair amount!

Had the same pair for 7+ years
I’ve had the same pair for 7+ years, and they look and work the same way that they did when I first got them! Many horses and hours in the saddle and they are hardly worn. Zipper works great, fit is elastic and has been able to accompany my growth and change over time. Super impressed, highly recommend.

Not made for shorter people
If you're short and not extremely thin with tiny calves, I would not recommend. I am 5'1, 130 pounds. I don't have huge calves, but my legs are more athletic. Previously, I was using the Dublin Easy Care Half Chaps in Medium. They were roomy on me, so I sized down to a Small in the Ariat chaps, as that seemed to match the sizing from the Dublin chaps anyway.
The Ariat chaps didn't fit either in calf or in height. I was able to struggle and force the zipper down and the chap fit very tight on my leg, which would probably be fine because they stretch, except that they would not zip all the way down over my boots (also Ariat). The height was also wayyyyy off. They came over my knee and when my leg was bent when sitting, the back of the chap would dig into the area behind my knee.
I can't size up considering that while moving up to the Medium would be good for my calf size, a Medium-Short is still the same height as the small and will not fit my leg.
It really sucks that if you're short, brands like this won't make products that fit you unless you're also a toothpick.

Mine lasted 6 years!
After 6 years mine are visibly starting to come apart. I would zip them up, turn them inside out, and throw them in the washer (cold) and drier (medium) about 3-4 times a year or so and they came out great. I found the heat helped lose too much stretch and they fit like new after each wash and dry! They are easy to wear, the zippers have been sturdy. I really can't imagine buying a different pair.

Fits my wide calf nicely
I struggled for a long time to find half chaps wide enough for me that were still for a short leg. I prefer them over the suede half chaps for sure, they’re so easy to clean. The 12 year old I teach has very different legs from me, but found these chaps in a good size for her too, which is another reason I would definitely recommend these. I do wish they were a little cheaper since they are still a pretty basic set of half chaps.

Great half chap - comfortable and practical
This is my third pair of these chaps. They are amazing. I wear them all the time when riding. Comfortable to wear and so easy to clean, just wash them. Even though they are leather. Always getting comments on them.

Seemed nice, but too generously sized
I bought these chaps after I took a break from riding for a few years. For reference, I had some barely used Ariat half chaps that had belonged to my mom several years ago in a size small, which I could get on after about 10 minutes of struggling, so I decided to size up to the medium. I measured my calf and the measurement seemed about right (a little tall, actually, but OK). Unfortunately, these were way too big. They seemed loose immediately before even riding in them once, and I knew they would stretch out even more as they got more use. Ariat must have changed their sizes in the last few years to make them bigger. I returned these chaps and will stick with using my mom's small chaps for now, but in the future I would suggest sizing down. For what it's worth, the quality on these seemed nice though.

Soft and comfortable!
I've been wearing these half chaps daily for a month and love them! The measurements are accurate for a perfect fit. I bought them hoping they would zip down over my Ariat winter paddock boots. They don't quite zip all the way down, but I know that once I start wearing my regular boots that I'll be able to get them zipped completely. I like the leather and zipper quality. I haven't tried submerging them in water but I do wipe them off after each wearing. I am a big fan of Ariat products.......great quality, price and fit.

Love this product!

Very nice for the price
I was looking for a sleeker half chap (with more leather and less stretchy material), but I have wide calves and wanted to be sure that they'd fit on the first try. They do fit very well, look nice, and the quality seems good so far.

I love these half chaps
These are wonderful comfortable half chaps. They start out tight, so don't fret. My previous ones had snaps that never seemed to snap right. These have a Velcro tab at the bottom. Look nice, very comfortable, easy to put on and get off.

Best half chaps I've ever purchased!
These half chaps are truly the best I've ever had. I've gone through many pairs and many brands, but nothing compares to these. The quality is unbeatable. I have ridden in them for years, no wear or tear. The zipper is extremely durable. The leather is very high quality, and hold up in the wash rack, mucking, etc. I clean mine with a damp sponge and any glycerin-based tack cleaner. They look provide a clean look while schooling. I could (and do) wear these all day, every day, they're so comfortable. They hold up, they don't drop, and they provide excellent grip. Cannot say enough great things about these half chaps.

Great for wide calves
Love these half chaps! So happy these fit after my custom tall boots finally kicked the bucket. Great find for people with larger calves, they are very stretchy! I'm so happy to find something affordable that will fit my extra extra wide calf.

Wore out quickly
I love these half chaps and their overall comfort is excellent. However, they wore out quickly where they are elastic and not leather. Breathable, but flimsy. They have holes. I'm unhappy. My last half chaps lasted 10 years (different brand) and I take excellent care of my things. Never washed them, though they claim to be washable. Just wiped down when needed.

Most Favorite Half Chap
This is the most comfortable and easy to pull on half chap I've ever purchased. It fits snug without being constricting, zippers down easily, and the Velcro tab versus the snap I've wrestled with on other styles, is brilliant. Very handsome too! If it came in a brown I'd buy it!
