Disappointed
I had this pad previously and loved it. I needed to replace it as it was in need of retirement. But I always raved about it.
Unfortunately, when I bought it, I also quickly switched to dressage and had my saddle fitter come out. He said my new saddle fits great but this pad is way too "bulky" and will cause slipping. Now I am stuck with a new pad that I'll never use.
I would recommend this pad but have a saddle fitter check it with your saddle and if you need this type of pad depending on your saddle/horse. Not good for a dressage saddle.

Comfort for horse and rider
As Daedalos, my 18 year old Oldenburg, and I age, I’m 72, it’s ever more important that we feel comfortable and secure over the 3’ fences that keep us occupied. Our new Acavallo pad distributes my weight and adds good shock absorption. Daedalos and I are moving easier with the Acavallo Memory Foam. I recommend it for older and younger horse and rider teams.

Adds bulk, not great under dressage saddle
I bought this as a last ditch effort to try and adjust my saddle from slipping forward. While the saddle doesn’t slip from the pad, the entire pack slips forward and then brings the saddle forward with it because there isn’t anything on the underside to keep the pad itself from slipping. It also adds a LOT of bulk. Additionally, this is better suited for a forward flap jump or AP saddle, not so much for dressage. It does seem well made though. Thanks to SmartPak’s return policy, I felt it was worth a try but it didn’t work for my needs.

Great for my horse with Kissing spine
I bought the spine free version of this pad. It is connected by elastic strips instead of solid down the spine but the pad itself is the same. It helped immensely with my horse, who has kissing spine and kept from having to have his saddle adjusted every couple of months. He was less back sore and more willing to lift his back with this on. I flip it over so that the sticky part is on the saddle pad rather than the saddle..That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If you put the sticky side to saddle, you have to place the saddle perfectly the first time...super hard to adjust without pulling everything off and starting again. And my horse seems to prefer it with sticky side down as I have attempted to use it the correct way. The white will get dirty fairly quickly and I just hose it off and hang it to dry and it gets fairly clean. I haven't attempted to use anything but water on it.
Overall, I adore this half pad.

Super stable
This is the second pad i have ordered because the first was so awesome!! I switch them so i can have one to use for the week while I’m washing the previous week’s one. I wish the pad’s non ribbefized entire area was the same size as a dressage pad.

Nice pad, didn't fit
I have a TB. This pad didnt work for us. It made his saddle bridge and pushed the cantal upward. After reading all the great reviews I had high hopes it would work. Looks like it will fit a flater back better.

I could feel the difference!
My OTTB has a cold back year round. I noticed a difference the first step he took after I mounted. Definately worth the purchase. I asked for it as a B-day gift from my whole family. Can't wait until this winter riding him when he really has a cold tight back!!!

Best of Both Worlds
I love this half pad. I was torn between an Ogilvy and a gel pad. This is the combination of the two! After doing some research, I found basic memory foam basically squishes to nothing. This is where the gel comes in. Yes the gel acts as a non-slip for the saddle, but it also helps with shock absorption while you're in the saddle. I find that this combo works best for me and my horse. I gave this pad 4 stars because, it's not bulky once the saddle is on, but because it gets dirty rather easily and does have some weight to it. Everything sticks to the gel. I had to get white for shows unfortunately. The black gel isn't noticeable with my saddle on top once it's positioned properly. Very pleased with my purchase!

Amazing feel and conforms well to my saddle!
I love this pad. Only problem is it runs large for my saddle (given I am on the smaller side). I don't like that you can see the black popping out so I may try using a thin saddle pad as well to try to cover the black part.

Great Alternative to Ogilvy!!
This half pad has exceeded my expectations from the moment I pulled it out of the box! I was expecting something somewhat similar to Ogilvy, but I had seen some reviews saying this was a very thin pad in comparison. However, with Ogilvy and other memory foam half pads out of my price range, I decided to take chance with this, and am I glad I did! My horse was noticeably more comfortable during our ride and my saddle did not budge. I have ridden in my friend's Ogilvy and I found it to be quite bulky looking and feeling. This pad is the perfect middle ground. While not as thick as other memory foam pads, it has silicone grip which adds even more shock absorbtion and keeps my saddle right where I place it. It is not bulky looking under my saddle nor does it feel like I have a mile of pad between me and my horse. My boy is a thoroughbred with decent withers and a very odd back, making saddle fit a constant struggle. This pad has corrected every place my saddle does not. Not saying it's a replacement for a well fitted saddle, but its great to fix minor adjustments... My only two complaints are that the silicoln grip is nearly impossible to get dirt out of if you happen to drop it. It is VERY grippy, so the only way to get dirt out is with a toothbrush. The other is at no fault of the brand, but I did order a white one so I could show hunters in it, but I received a black one instead. It still looks sharp and it will probably last longer between washes, but if you want to show in the hunters make sure you get a white one so it is less noticeable. Overall, this is a fantastic pad, and I am excited for many more rides in it!
