TractGard® is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 184.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Notable Improvement I decided to try this for my horse that is on stall rest because I suspected a little bit of tummy trouble brewing (smaller, drier manure and a little bit of "nasty face" during grooming). After being on TractGuard for about three weeks, his manure is more consistent and healthy looking. It is not only larger and more moist, there is also just more of it. He still does the "nasty face" during belly grooming...but that might just be because he's a thin-skinned TB with a sassy attitude! Overall, I do think this product makes a difference, and it certainly eases my worries a bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I was able to change my Ulcer horse from high doses of ranitadine and GastroGaurd to much more economical doses once he had been on this product for a couple of weeks. He and my wallet are finally putting on weight again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like this product! My mare developed a severe impaction colic and it didn't look good for her. Never having a colic problem before, I wasn't sure how to treat her afterwards. She had a slight recurrance about 2 weeks later. I wanted something to help soothe & protect her digestive tract and keep her properly hydrated. She's been on this product for just about a month and has had no problems with colic, dehydration or digestive upset. Thanks to the helpful people at Smart Pak, I was able to select this product and am very happy with that choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Met All My Needs In preparation to move my horse to Colorado, I was looking for a few different products. I needed an electrolyte to keep him drinking enough for the higher altitude, an antacid to keep his tummy comfortable during the stress of a 26 hour drive, and probiotics to support his digestion. TractGuard does all of these things, and for a very reasonable price! I'm VERY pleased with my purchase; thanks again SmartPak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ALREADY HELPING MY HORSES! i BOUGHT TRACTGARD FOR TWO OF MY HORSES THAT HAVE BOWEL ISSUES. ONE IS AN 18 YEAR OLD MARE THAT I RECENTLY WAS GIVEN THAT HAD CHRONIC LIQUID STOOLS AND GAS. AFTER 5 DAYS ONLY, THIS HAS BEEN GREATLY REDUCED. THE OTHER HORSE IS A 6 YEAR OLD ICELANDIC WHOM HAS HAD WEEKLY EPISODES OF GAS COLIC AS MY VET CALLED IT. THIS IS THE FIRST WEEK THAT HE HAS NOT HAD AN EPISODE AND LIKE THE MARE, JUST STARTED 5 DAYS AGO! I'M SEEING FANTASTIC RESULTS ALREADY AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING SUCH A HELPFUL SUPPLEMENT, SMARTPAK.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work well for my horse. I bought this product based on it's good reviews and the fact that it has elextrolytes in it. My horse was very grumpy and I don't believe it worked well for him.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pelleted form the pelleted form makes for less waste- seems palatable, as our pony cleans up her feed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Choice for the Money! I've fed TractGard for years to multiple horses, and I've never had a horse colic while on it. Very palatable - none of my horses have ever refused to eat it. The price is impossible to beat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value, not what I needed According to the smartpak ulcer spreadsheet, this product contains an antacid buffer. We had been on UGuard to maintain post-omeprazole treatment, and switched to this because it seemed like more for the $ - electrolytes and probiotic package plus antacid. Have had to switch back to UGuard because this product hasn't done the trick with antacid buffering. But it's a great value for what you get and if I weren't counting pennies so much, I'd keep it in his smartpak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Impactions My 20+ TB became impacted and was in severe distress. Now that he is retired and has a reduced workload I noticed his gut sounds were almost non-existent. I put him on TractGard and he is drinking much more water and I happily hear lots of gut sounds. He looks and feels years younger. This product has given me peace of mind with not having to worry about another incident of impaction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful value I have an OTTB who has difficulty keeping weight, and had very little appetite and chronic diarrhea. After two months on this product his weight and appetite have increased and he now produces proper "road apples." He'll eat the pellets out of my hand, and you can't beat the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, great value! My horse suffers from chronic bouts of colic stemming from ulcers. I've talked with my vet and rather than try heavy duty meds that have no guaranteed results, we agreed to try tract buffers first. I researched several products and after weighing costs versus benefits, took a chance on this one. I have to say, I'm extremely happy with the product! My gelding's colic incidents are almost non-existant at this point, thanks to the tract gard! His weight is increased, he thinks the supplement is delicious, and he's much happier. Thank you SmartPak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! We used tractgard before taking our horse to a competition in July to be sure he stayed hydrated. It worked great! He stayed in top condition!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product I have been using TractGard for several years now and I have been extremely happy with it. My horse is a super picky eater so I have to pick pelleted supplements that he likes. He travels and shows a great deal so he is under a lot of stress much of the time. He has not had a colic or ulcer incident (knock on wood). I also like it has electrolytes in it since he won't eat them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good My Icelandic gelding, Stefnir, came through the winter a bit underweight. For over two months I tried everything that my vet recommended. Nothing helped. No weight gain. Next came the thought that ulcers could be the culprit. After two weeks on TractGard the weight has finally started to increase. So far 25 pounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful tool Tract-Guard seems to help horses that don't drink as well during weather changes. I've also used it for horses on antibiotics and under other stresses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! I have used Tractgard with my younger horse for the past three years, ever since he had a bout of colic as a three year old. It gives me piece of mind that the product contains ingredients that can help avoid future bouts of colic. I also love that it has an antacid as he tends to stress easily - no ulcers for us!! He finds it to be extremely palatable, but he is less fussy about supplements than most horses. As for my wallet, this is one of the most affordable products I purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Ever I have been using Tract Guard for our Quarter horse gelding for 6 years. It is the only product that has controlled his ongoing colic and intestional blockage. I would recommend this to anyone who has horses with discomfort from any digestive and blockage issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TractGard My horse is 24 years old and he has always had digestive problems and a lot of gas. Two years ago when the weather turned hot in VA, he started to get very bloated and then very loose stool to the point of having to get the vet to ward off colic. A friend gave me a seven day sample to try to calm his digestive system down after efforts by the vet had miserably failed. After the second day, he was back to normal. I keep him on this product year round, he is more comfortable and much less gassy. When I bought him 15 years ago I was told he was an allergic horse and this has helped him. I wish I had known about this years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Difference What a difference this made in our thoroughbred!! He is much calmer and eats all his food!! He trailers better to shows and just to lessons. He is so much calmer when away from home. He now seems to enjoy everyday work much better. It has been easilier to keep his weight the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REALLY bad impaction colic....i was far away. i sent my horse away (6 hours away) to be layed up for a year for a suspensory injury. at the time i lived in south florida and there was no where around that did 24/7 turnout and i wanst going to keep him at the show barn and pay $1000/month to have him sit in a stall. so 6 hours away was my only option. he is a VERY EASY KEEPER. and when he left (due to being out of work) he was on 1/3 qt. of 10%pellets 2X/day and 6 pads of grass hay a day. with him being out 24/7 (other than feeding) i instructed them to give him just a handful or so of grain and hay is not necessary unless he is in side. about a month into his "lay up" i went to visit my guy. to my absolute amazement they were feeding my horse 3 qts of 12% pellets 2X a day, a qt of beet pulp at night with his smartpak and 3 pads of coastal hay a day. i was in shock. i told them to take him off the beet pule IMMIDEATLY and to lower his grain WAYYYYYY down and to feed him only timothy or grass hay...not coastal. they said they understood and i went on my way...frustrated, but on my way nonetheless. about 2 months after that my mom gets a phone call...my horse is being sent to UF's equine facility for a very severe impaction colic. they ended up pumping 23 liters out of my poor horses stomach. a horse i had for 8 years with no sign of colic a day in his life. when i went to visit him and went back to the barn (i hadnt found a new barn yet) i saw he was still getting that rediculous amount of grain/hay. the vet basically said his impaction was due to "too much feed with no need for it" he came back with VERYYYYY easy and obvious instructions from his vet. she said the same thing i did. take him OFF the beet pulp, give him only about a hand full or 2 of grain with his supplements and timothy hay only. well when me and equine limo came to pick him up to get him outta there he was still getting everything the vet said not to put anywhere near him. i was upset to say the least. but while i was waiting to pick my guy up my "insurence" to protect his stomach from those people who were "caring" for him was tract guard. it seemed to do well and he made it out of there alive and colic free :) 3 years later...no sign of colic...thanks tractguard

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protection A couple of years ago my horse was diagnosed with anemia due to ulcers. After doing the expensive ulcer treatment, my vet suggested a preventative. I knew I wanted a pellet, since it's so much easier to feed. The idea of an acid buffer sounded good to me. He's been on tractgard for about 2 years now with no problems. The recommended dosage was more than strong enough in my thoroughbred of 1,400 pounds, and I have ended up feeding only 1/2 scoop with each feeding. I do believe this product works as a preventative, and also cures diarrea very quickly. It also contains electrolytes, which prevents the need for an additional supplement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I feed this to two of my mares. One had mild ulcer symptoms. I used to feed her neighlox, then switched her to Tractgard. She has not shown any symptoms being on this supplement. The other mare is a pony who had severe impaction colic and was at the vet hospital a week. After she came home, she was still having diahrrea. Once we put her on Tractgard, her digestive problems cleared up . I will keep both of these mares on this as a preventative. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent After my geldings impaction and colic surgery 3 years ago, I have used this product to help maintain gut motility. It seems to work well and we haven't had a colic since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product for the Money Put one of my horses on this after he was hospitalized for colitis and dehydration in December. I talked with the vet and decided to put him on this to try and prevent any future problems with stomach/intestinal upset. So far he has been healthy and eating and drinking like a champ.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product My horse in weather changes didn't drink alot in cold weather. Track Gard really work this winter. No vet calls for colic. Yeah

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great and Good Price! My senior mare had three colic episodes in three months time, after making her lounge and poo she was fine. So I needed something to help keep her regular. I tried oil and using other anti-colic/digestive products, but I didn't like using power and oil wasn't very convenient for boarding facility. So I switched to TractGard and she has not had even one colic episode, it's been three months now! I didn't change anything else in her diet nor routine.
Date published: 2009-03-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from NO MORE COLIC!! Within two years, Miss B, my adopted Standardbred, had three minor colic experiences and there was no obvious cause. I honestly thought I was going to be the sick one because I was so worried about her. Then I started ordering a SmartPak of this product for her, and she has not had one episode since. That was more than three years ago. If the economy gets really bad, I'll sell my jewelry before Miss B goes without her TractGuard!!
