Bad reaction
I am so sorry to report that my mare seemed to have a bad reaction to this supplement. She seemed to become ultra sensitive to light, and ultra spooky. Had her on it about 3 days, took a couple days off of it to return to normal. I have had this mare for 16 years and she has never behaved this way. I suspect the dong quai root powder to be the cause of the reaction. Glad I did some research, and also that she became her normal self after a day or so without supplement. Clearly this works well for many, but not for this mare. I am sharing this information to help others that may experience something similar. I thought maybe my mare’s vision was off, or perhaps her brain was malfunctioning. She is totally fine and back to normal now, and is doing great on her other SmartPak supplements.

Works Great for my Chestnut Mare
I have a 4 year old Chestnut Mare that had the worst attitude outbursts. She would kick out when I would saddle her, or have her around the geldings. I put her on SmartMare Harmony Pellets 6 months ago and have seen a HUGE improvement with her temperament. She is much easier to work with. She lives with two geldings, and knock on wood, she doesn't throw herself into heat or act marish around them. Actually, pecking order wise, she's number three. But I can tell just from using the supplements, it has helped with her moodiness. She doesn't try to kick out, or act moody when I'm tacking her up. I definetly recommend it. I thought in the past I was going to have use the more expensive Vet prescribed hormone medicine to keep her in a pleasant mood. But I'm extremely happy with how these supplements have helped.

DRAMATIC difference in my young mare
If you are looking for an effective mare supplement, this is the one. I wish I would have tried it sooner, but I could not believe it was this effective, and this affordable. It is a game changer. My mare is only 3, and her young heats have been miserable for her. She started rubbing her hips/thigh obsessively against the walls on her first heat as a two year old, so we had originally had her on other brands of "performance" mare supplements, my mare got slightly better on those, but was never quite "normal", still obsessively rubbed that area, and was bald, much to my dismay, and my vets dismay, after ruling out everything else. Eventually after not feeling the "bang for my buck" and with COVID causing life disruptions, I stopped her on the other companies supplement, feeling defeated. After introducing a new horse, a gelding, she got even worse, obsessive, stopped eating, rubbed herself balder on her thigh/hip area, and I finally broke down and tried SmartMare Harmony pellets. Within a few days, she was like a different horse. She has completely stopped that hormonal rubbing, her hair is growing back, and she could care less about other horses. Her heat cycles are mild, and she is a happier horse.

Perfect for my mare!
These say you should wait 2 months before really seeing any results, but I saw results with my mare the first heat she was on these. She used to kick holes in her stall walls, harass every gelding she could see, and have serious separation anxiety from the geldings. Just awful lol. But the first heat after I started giving her these, I didn't even know she was in heat. All the bad behavior went away and I got my sweet mare back. Love these!

It worked!
I had a problem with my 23 year old gelding acting like a aggressive stallion! He was gelded late and was a working stallion. Your salesperson recommended we try the Smart Harmony pellets.
I wasn’t too sure about that, but much to our surprise, in about a month he totally calmed down and became his sweet little paint horse self again! We once again have “harmony” in our pastures!

Still Same
My mare has been on this for almost 2 months and she is still noisy and reactive when she rides with my friend and sisters. She also is still very clingy with my other horse and I had hoped those issues would improve more.

Finally something that works
My Araloosa mare was unpredictable on what mood we were fetching from the pasture to ride. She would be grumpy and lazy, to hyper and forward. The SmartMare Harmony Pellets, have tamed her mood swings. She is now an honest working mare and easy to feed. She doesn't even notice it in her regular feed. Now I just need to find some in human form for my daughter. LOL

Didn’t notice difference
Had my mare on this for a few months they say you see supplements start working after 2-3 months so I gave 3/4 months and didn’t see any changes to her mood unfortunately :/ my mare is spooky and can get worked up easy I thought would help her. just not for her :/ but she ate it with no problems and she is a picky eater!

I was hopeful this would work
I have tried this for 60 days and so far no change. I do think horses and mares in particular are individuals and so this just didn't work for my mare. In reading the reviews it does work for others. You just have to try and see. Perhaps the behaviors I was trying to change are not what this supplement is for. My mare has practically silent heat cycles, but she is more alert and harder to focus during that time. This supplement has not helped with that so I will try another.

This product seems to be working well on my old mare. She doesn't chase the boys off with as much enthusiasm as she did before starting her on this supplement. It is, however, still only a week in so cannot give a definitive answer.

Helped my mare
This product really has been a real help for my mare. She would get sooooo cranky and my poor old gelding just was not happy with her at all. She has mellowed out considerably. I was unable to ride with other horses when she was in her mare mode. Now I can ride with other mares and geldings. She also is now much kinder to my pony mare who she will now actually play with. It takes about month before you see results so be patient. I do not use it in the winter but I have heard that others have.

so far much nicer
I bought this since my MARE is really mean when in heat which seems to be all the time. So far with 6 weeks under our belt using this product, she is a joy to be around. I only add a half cup of grain to this to giver her a little more to eat otherwise she does gobble this up quickly.

Mare is much more comfortable
Despite being on Regumate, my older mare is still showing signs of muscle discomfort during her cycles. She's been taking this supplement for 3 weeks and I am noticing that her muscles are much more supple and she seems much more content. Great supplement for the money!

Works on my geldings
My two geldings live with a spayed mare. Once she was added, they both became very dominant and assertive with her, continually leaving bite marks on her. I put them on SmartMare Harmony and it made a difference in their behavior. It didn't totally eliminate the biting, but it made a vast improvement.
At one point, I thought maybe it didn't make a difference and took them off SmartMare Harmony. They both told me it did, indeed, impact their behavior in a positive way. I won't try that again! As long as they are living with a mare, even a spayed mare, I will keep them on SmartMare Harmony.

Makes a difference
I am using this together with SmartCalm Ultra. With both products together, my 4yo TB SASSY and unpredictable mare is much more level headed. She still has a temper but her episodes are less frequent, shorter, less extreme, and she gives in and goes to work much quicker. As always, SmartPaks customer service is top notch.

Not for everyone
Tried this for a month and saw no change at all. In fact she started charging me. I can’t say if it is related but this mare is chiro’d and lazered often so it’s not a discomfort issue.

Definitely takes the edge off!
I started my mare on this about a year ago and haven't taken her off of it! My mare is young, so her heat cycles can be vicious. I definitely feel this product toned her down. She's obnoxiously picky and gobbled this up! She will stay on this forever.

Not for everyone
I had my mare on this for a month and by the third week on it, I noticed a behavior change - for the worse. She became very cranky and agitated, would charge at her herd mates (that she formerly had no issues with) and by the end of the fourth week she became aggressive towards me. I thought about taking her to the vet, fearing an ovarian cyst or something similar, but checked here first to see if anyone else had seen a similar reaction. Thankfully, another user had the same issues, and so I immediately stopped giving it. In two days my mare was back to her normal self, no aggression towards me or her herd mates, and decidedly happier. So while I don't doubt that this combination of herbal supplements work very well for many mares, please be aware that not all react to it the same way.

Love this!
This supplement has helped my moody mare a bunch! She’s much more tolerable. She used to be horrible to handle. She’s changed her attitude a lot and calmed down. Love this! Worked fast too! She’ll eat it out of my hand, so it must taste great too because she’s a picky eater.

It has worked well when we really needed it...
We got this from a friend who had 'extra' smartpaks of it that where no longer needed for the horse and knew our horse was having issues since she lost her companion. Well in the month we had her on them we could see a slight difference in her distress with in a week. She has been handling things better the longer she is on this product and we plan to keep her on it until we run out. We'll order more if she obviously needs it when we run out. Hopefully now that she has a new companion she won't need it so much.
