SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free Pellets are designed to provide well-rounded joint support for older horses. This herb-free version of SmartFlex Senior is ideal for older horses that compete.
For joint support, SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free Pellets provide 8,000 mg of glucosamine, 700 mg of chondroitin sulfate, 75 mg hyaluronic acid, and 12,000 mg of MSM. This formula also contains 500 mg of the amino acid phenylalanine to help address stiffness and discomfort associated with aging. And because senior horses benefit from extra antioxidants, this supplement also contains vitamin C and super oxide dismutase. Your horse will love these tasty pellets! A Weird Smell
I've used SmartFlex Senior on my 23 yr old horse for 5 years with great results and about 3 months ago I decided to try the Herb-free version of it because the herb-free has a little bit more HA in it. My horse is already picky and does NOT like the strong, vinegary smell of the herb-free version. I'm switching back to the regular SmartFlex Sr.

Amazing, With GREAT results
My mare just completed her first month on this supplement and wow! I have noticed a huge improvement. My mare is 25 and was limping very bad at the trot (most likely early arthritis) so I started her on this, the limp has gone away and my mare is feeling great!! Can't wait to see what month 2 holds.
BTW my mare still competes heavily we do everything from Dressage, Western, Speed, to Showmanship, with this supplement I see her competing for many yrs. to come. It's what she loves especially running! :) Plus she thinks this is a Treat, I can literally give it to her straight out of the package!

Excellent Product
Three of my horses are on SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free. I started with my 22 yo TB two+ years ago to help out with some stiffness & there was noticeable improvement. I now include my daughter's 18 yo mare & my 14 yo trail horse
who was starting out a little stiff too. All now appear comfortable & there is no more stiffness.

Great Product, My Mare thinks its a Treat!!!
I started my 25yr old Arab mare on this about 2 weeks ago, and already I've seen a huge improvement in her. I got this product when she started showing very early stages of arthritis in her front leg and its made a difference. My mare and I still compete heavily and I have been amazed at how she is moving and feeling now. There is no more stiffness at all. Also customer service was excellent in helping me find this smartpak, and in setting up a 3-day trial. My mare is extremely picky when it comes to anything in her grain, but this stuff she thinks it's a treat!!!

I switched from Grand Flex Senior to this. It smells quite strong so a few horses balked the first few days but all but one came around. I love the pellets as less falls to the bottom of the bucket and gets wasted like powders do. I wish it would come in 30 lb bags. I might switch to the regular version of this product to be able to get the bigger bags and better value.

Good supplement so far!
I was feeding the Smart Flex Senior and my horse did well on it. I wanted to try the Herb Free and so far it seems just as effective but I will give it a few more weeks to be sure. I am pleased with both supplements.

So far, so good
As far as I can tell at this early stage (1.5 months since beginning supplements), my 16 yr old mare seems to be doing well. Because I purchased her 1 week before the supplements came and were started, I don't have anything to compare to what I see to now. I purchased these for preventative/maintenance support to help her remain sound and comfortable through a 6 day per week dressage training program. She likes the taste and appears to be doing well..

Great for Competing Horse
My 18yo trakehner x has been on this for over a year. He moves incredible and I never feel an off step. Since starting, we have stopped joint space injections, and he catches his leads great. I use in conjunction with Smart Gain 4 for taste and gain. He is a hard keeper.

Works very well!!
I bought this product a little over two week ago. I have an 8 year old gelding. I chose this product because it provided more glucosamine, chondroitin, HA and MSM that what I had been using and it was herb free (a necessity since I show). I figured I'd start with the product that was most affordable for me but still provided the supplements that I needed. If I needed to move up to a product with higher levels of the joint supplements I would. After two weeks I noticed my horse was moving considerably better. No more stiffness in his hocks!!! I am amazed!!! And the convenience of the Smartpacks is great!!! If you haven't started using smartpacks take them time to figure out what you are spending on your horse's supplements and you will find that they generally cost less than what you're currently paying.

Haven't used it long
but my horse ate it. I switched to the herb free pellets for a month because of an upcoming show and some of the ingredients in the non- herb free supplement are on the forbidden list.
That said, he ate the herb free and didn't seem to be any less comfortable.

Works great
I feed this to two of my mares. My 28 yr old is moving better than she has in years. She is able to be rode a couple times a week now by my 5yr old. Before this ,she was not getting around well now she is spunky again. My 11 appy mare has a sensitive stomach and every thing else I tried made her ulcer worse but this has been a life saver for her. Plus the digestive aid really is important to her. Since being on this we have won buckles and had some of our fastest times.

Saved my old mare
I have a 30 yr old mare who I used to show and give lessons on and since being retired creaks and cracks when she walks. And is always last in to be fed as she walks from the back of our eight acres. But now lopes when it's cool in the morning and evening! And trots around the pasture with my three year old. Something she didn't do anymore. And now when she lays down to rolls she can hop (almost) right back up!

Good value
I think you get a lot of product in this supplement, and it is a good value. I saw improvement with one horse I put on it (she just needed an extra bit of help), and not with the other. For the other, I'm bumping up to the resilience to see if it helps him more effectively. I do believe he needs stronger help--either through adequan or injections so that might be my problem.
We have another 29 y/o horse that we put on the senior powder (with the herbs) and it truly made an incredible difference in him (thinking about putting down since he was so unsteady to moving quite well), so I think I was hoping to see something dramatic like that.

Well worth the money!
My 19 year Danish Warmblood has been on this for a couple of years now, and I have not heard any "creaks or snapping" from any of his joints! His is still acting like a 4 year old and is very liquid in his movements - dressage. Would recommend this product to anyone that is looking to support their senior friend.

I have used this product for several years. My horse is 24 years old and competed at a licensed USDF show in July. No one would know that she is as old as she is, she still moves pretty darn good! I have never had any problem with her eating this product. I avoid anything with powder because she has some respiratory issues.

Great Product

Great Purchase
I purchased this product for my 22 year old gelding who was suffering from arthritis in his hock. It took approximately three weeks for a noticeable difference. He's been on the SmartFlex Senior for about seven months and he hasn't had a lame step since! The pellets make it easy to feed. I would recommend this product.

Good for senior performance horses
I use Senior-Flex Herb Free pellets on my 21 year old 4 time World Champion (PtHA Hunter Hack, 3 time Honor Roll horse, APHA and PtHA) to keep him comfortable. Buck's Scotch Bar (Scotty) retired sound, but he has a little arthritis in his hocks. He gets around fine now and on cooler days, runs around like a 4 year old!! He still enjoys the occasional ride and still loves to jump! I hope to have him around for another decade.

Like the packaging
Have an IR horse, so like the Herb Free Pellets. Same great product but now getting the bag instead of the plastic trays. I make up food for a week at a time, so lots of plastic that was not needed. Don't know how environmentally friendly that plastic is, but the bag sure makes me feel like I am being more environmentally conscious and I think buying it in bulk is even a bit cheaper.
