SmartDark & Handsome helps bring out a deep, dark shine in black, bay, and brown coats. This unique formula provides a targeted combination of ingredients specifically designed to help horses maintain their most beautiful coat color. Flaxseed serves as a high-quality source of omega 3 fatty acids, which support healthy skin and a shiny coat. Paprika, a spice rich in beta carotene and other antioxidants, supports a deep, rich coat color. Finally, 5 mg of biotin and minerals such as copper and zinc support a healthy, resilient haircoat. Plus, it contains fenugreek for a delicious flavor and aroma your horse will love! SmartDark & Handsome is ideal for horses with black or dark bay coats, but may also be helpful for any horse that has a coat prone to sun bleaching. Didn't work as promoted
Very disappointed in the product. Used for three months without any significant improvement in the color of my black mare's coat. Purchased Black As Knight from another supplier because SmartPak does not carry and the mare is BLACK in two weeks! Please carry Black As Knight because I love all the other SmartPak products but this one did not work for me.

Works Fast!
I have a Friesian mare that I clipped back in December and bleached out pretty bad during the winter months. I first tried Nu-Image Dark Horse and went through an entire bucket and saw no change at all. I fed it 2x a day as well and the bucket didn't last a full month and was $45! That's when I decided to try the SmartDark and Handsome.
I started to see a change at only a week in. At 2 weeks in I could see rich, deep, black coming in under the brown coat. Now I am itching to clip her again to reveal the deep back hidden underneath, but I am waiting it out and trying to give her more time to shed out the brown.
As of now, her chest, neck, and hind areas are significantly darker. This stuff definitely does not disappoint and was significantly cheaper, only given once per day, and the smartpaks make it last the full month. I will give it another month and then return to post before and after pics, but this supplement is definitely a keeper!

So far, so good
My mare has been on this for about a month and I've already noticed a difference. She is turned out during the day and was very sun bleached but I've noticed a slight improvement in the darkness of her coat with no change in anything else aside from the addition of this supplement. She's also a very picky eater and eats this without issue.

Worked better than Black as Knight
My horse was on Black As Knight all summer and despite being turned out only at night, he faded pretty significantly. So in September I switched and was noticing a difference in a month. I wasn't expecting a change until after three months and was happily surprised.

Horse loves it!
My horse loved this product! ... And my dog did too (she got to lick the smart packs clean) it was hard to tell a difference mainly because my horse was in the sun a lot, but I do think if I had continued with this it would be a great thing!

Three months-no color change
Tried this last year on my black and white paint mare who turns a nasty orangey color by the end of summer. Not only did she still fade but she did not like the taste of it. Wetting her food improved intake.
I have yet found anything that has worked to keep her dark-supplements, sunscreens, or fly sheets.
Gave two stars because it seemed to improve her coat texture a bit, but not enough to be overly impressed with.

Not much difference
My Friesian has been on this for a month and so far I don't see much of a difference. She may be a little shinier but she is not any blacker. I'm trying another month to see if it just needs longer to work. I do love my smart paks!

Not impressed...
My solid black paint started this supplement in the winter and I noticed as he shed his winter coat his hair did become VERY black. You could also see where new scratches and bites marks had been because the new hair coming in was jet black. Though he still became extremely sun bleached by summertime and looked no different than last year. He also hates the taste.

Worked, but not enough, and expensive
Used this on my dark dark bay mare (looks black when coat first comes in, but fades easily) awhile ago, and then took her off of it. That winter her coat got so terribly bleached, she looks like she got a bad dye job! She turned this awful buckskin brindle color. So I put her back on it, and I can tell that its helped a little with her color. She hasn't faded near as much. However, her coat, mane, and tail are really dry and she has a lot of dandruff. I'm switching to a different supplement (from Smartpak of course!) that will hopefully focus more on the coat and skin health instead of the color and hopefully it'll work overall! My horse enjoyed the taste, but that isn't saying much since she'll eat anything!

May have reduced bleaching but did not stop
I purchase the product in May for my black horse. Despite being covered with a sheet with limited turnout he still bleaches in the summer. The smart dark and handsome did not stop the bleaching but he is not as light. It appears to have reduced it a bit but did not eliminate the bleaching. I just have to wait for fall!

This. Stuff. Works!
Since starting this our horses, one black roan and one true black, coats have become richer and have dappled. This has definitely made them darker..... (they are already smart and handsome! )

Not too impressed
Had my mare on it since last winter. Did not see much of a change in her coat. She is not stalled every day, she goes in and out as she pleases.

Great Color
I am on my 2nd bucket of SmartDark & Handsome. My horses color is dark and shiney. Although we are in spring and going into summer I am hoping that the supplement is contributing to his beautiful coat.

This. Works!
We started using this product about a month ago. Results were apparent much sooner though. If you have a dark colored horse, you need thus product! I highly recommend it!

No Change
Made my mare's coat shinier, but so does the big $7 bag of biotin I can get at the feed store. She still bleached just as much. Waste of money.

Too soon to tell
My mare has been on this for about a month. It has made her coat glossy but I think it is too soon to tell if it will keep her black as the summer comes on. I will repost after a few more months.

Works great!
I have a horse with black and brown spots and I've noticed a huge difference in him maintaining his dark color even when in the sun all day. He won't eat it though plain I have to add applesauce to get him to eat. But it does not work on my dark bay horse at all.

Not noticing any changes yet.

Made my horse SO dark and SO shiny!
SmartDark and Handsome lives up to its name! This product made my black horse who bays a bit in the winter dark again! It also made him really soft and shiny. I'm so excited to see what he is going to look like when he sheds out! The only thing which I wouldn't even consider a negative is I'm going to have to pull him from it a week before shows! But that's no big deal!!! Awesome product and can't wait to see the 2 month results!!!
