I won't go to a show without it!
I have used the SmartCalm Ultra Paste for a while now, on different horses. This is an herb-free formula that can help provide extra support in new situations. While this product may be administered in addition to a daily serving of SmartCalm Pellets or SmartCalm Ultra Pellets, my current mare is not on a daily calming supplement. She is easy-going day to day and is luckily, the same horse whether she is ridden every day or once a month but can get a bit antsy when we go off property. For her, I use the SmartCalm Ultra Paste the night before a show at dinner, and then in the morning before we trailer off. For an average-sized horse, you want to give the entire tube 2-4 hours before the event. If I am at a show all day, I might give her a third tube halfway through to keep our momentum up. My mare loves the taste and honestly thinks I am just giving her a treat! I have no issues with her gobbling this up, despite her being a bit skeptical of supplements.

Zero Difference
I tried this on two separate occasions but unfortunately, there was zero change in my gelding. The first situation was a hunter pace and I was hoping it would calm him enough to do a relaxed ride- instead he was a jigging, sweaty mess. On the second occasion, it was a dressage schooling show. He is typically very tense in the warm up ring, ignores aids and pays attention to everything except his rider. I gave this to him 2-3 hours before warms up and although he was quiet in the trailer (which us typical of him) he immediately reverted to his old ways when we walked into warm up.

Works great!
I have a anxious mare when it comes to traveling. This really helps her relax and not get so worked up when we get there! I use like an hour before I plan to leave and notice a big difference.

Seems to help
My horse has a lot of anxiety when it comes to trailering. I got this in hopes that it would help calm him. I noticed a difference when I did a test load at home. However, I think I waited too long after administering it to try loading him, it seemed to wear off after a bit. Hence the 4 stars. I bought a 5 pack case, so I will continue to try it and see what impact it has and know for sure if it works.

Did not work for my gelding
I gave this to my gelding before a show and it did nothing to calm his nerves. Maybe it will help others, or has, but it had zero effect on my boy.

Worked better than Perfect Prep for my mare
Results may vary, as all horses are individuals. But I can say Perfect Prep didn't do much for her and this was better. She's on the SmartCalm Ultra pellets as well and is a joy to ride in the mornings after she's gotten her feed but the nervousness returns by the afternoon. I used this only 1h before my lesson as I was running late and it still had some pretty good effects. It didn't take away my mare's moodiness or personality but it made her much more agreeable. Perfect Prep didn't do anything but make her fall asleep on the crossties and drool everywhere, while this didn't smell at all and it actually took the edge off. I immediately kicked myself for ordering only 1 tube and went to order 7 more!

No difference
I bought this in the hopes that I could use it at shows instead of the Perfect Prep tubes, because the price of it so much better. I honestly didn’t see any change in my gelding. Perfect Prep is something I use everyday at shows, so I’m bummed I won’t be able to swap it out for this. Also, my gelding is currently on the SmartCalm ultra pellets and I love those, this paste just didn’t do the trick.

First time on trail in 1 1/2 years and WOW!
I haven't been on the trail in well over 1 1/2 years due to moving to different barns and not having my riding buddy. My retired horse and I went through years and miles of trails at fast pace riding throughout Florida and yearly in the NC mountains. But haven't had a chance with my newer gelding. The last ride with my new gelding was 1 1/2 years ago and short and ugly. He was very nervous and ended us with a huge spook because of a deer. Today I rode with 2 old time friends and another old friend with a new spooky horse. I gave my horse SmartCalm. He was SO GOOD!!!. He looked at the woods in a way to enjoy not to spook. The more we rode the better he was. Totally different horse! He was enjoying the trail ride much like my other horses did that were great on the trail. I will be using SmartCalm again with trail rides and my friend with the new horse was so impressed that she will be ordering SmartCalm too.

Great relaxation for a nervous horse in Dressage
My mare struggles with relaxing into the bit with Dressage - it is something we work on every ride along with every lesson but I thought for the more intense environment at the show this may be useful. I gave it to her 2 hours before our ride time but we had a 2 hour rain delay so it ended up being more like 4 hours before our actual test. She came out more relaxed than normal stretching easier to the bit and allowed for a shorter warm up to be okay. Will use again in the future in stressful situations

Didn't see a difference
I bought this to see if it would help aid my gelding during travel and show. He tends to get nervous energy, especially when it comes time to ride. I didn't notice any difference after administrating this product as expected. I will not purchase again.

Significantly helped during 4th of July fireworks!
I bought this for my two horses (19 y/o mustang and 26 y/o Arabian) who always react negatively to the neighbors 4th of July fireworks shows. I’ve tried other products in the past, but they always wind up anxiously pacing/running through their paddock. This year, I decided to give the SmartCalm paste a try...amazing results!! Gave the paste ~2-2.5 hours prior to dusk (ie prior to the start of fireworks). The Arab was super calm and actually stood outside and watched them! The mustang (the more reactive of the two) stayed in the barn and paced a little, but no running, jumping, flinching, etc. Amazing product! Will definitely be buying again to keep on hand for the next event.

Made a big difference!
I wasn't sure if this would work for my gelding but it ended up making a huge difference. He gets nervous at shows about the action outside of the ring. He's young and green and it's to be expected, but this totally helped take the edge off to have a much better learning experience for him and I both.

Great Product
I use the smart calm ultra paste every time I show now. I works great for my horse, and I like that its only 30ml compared to other calming products that range from 60-80ml. It does not have a bad smell and my horse does not give me any issues eating it. Will continue to use.

LOVE this product!!

SmartCalm Ultra Paste
I bought this to use on my warmblood gelding that is very large and suffers from anxiety in stressful situations. My hope was that I could help him relax without the use of drugs and turn stressful situations/events into good experiences. Let me start by telling you my guy hates tubes of anything, really hates them. He is convinced that nothing good comes from a tube... Until now. He will actually just stand there and allow me to squeeze the tube into his mouth. He will lick it off the tube or my fingers if there is any residual. There is absolutely no protest from him. He actually likes the taste and it does take the edge off rather quickly too. Thank you for making a palatable paste that helps my guy chill out!

Pleasantly surprised
I was really skeptical that this would work for my seriously herd bound mare who is an anxious mess anytime I take her somewhere without her buddy. Given 2 hours in advance, this didn't completely take the edge off, but it helped noticeably keep her from constantly calling, digging, and going to pieces when we got off the trailer. She was still nervous, but not uncontrollable. She was able to settle enough for a decent ride (though still a bit prancey) and I would absolutely use this again in future for taking her off premises to ride by herself, in conjunction with the Smart Tranquility supplement that is her daily dose. For the price, the peace of mind of having a calmer horse is worth it for me.

I HAVE TRIED ALL THINGS, I RECENTLY TRIED THIS ALSO AND UNFORTUNATELY DIDNT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE AT THE SHOW. I SAW GREAT REVIEWS ON IT, BUT APPARENTLY SHE IS SPECIAL. ugh :(

Works as well as Perfect Prep for my horse
Works just as well as the more expensive Perfect Prep tubes for my horse, but at a much lower price tag. Also a bonus that it’s a much smaller tube to get into him. He hates the taste, but it helps take the nervous edge off of him when hauling to new places.
