Worked Great - Mare Stopped Eating
For the time my mare did eat this supplement I noticed a positive change in her demeanor and behavior. Unfortunately the last time I ordered, she immediately went off of her feed. I first thought it was the Vitamin E pellets I started her on, but she ate those with no issue. I offered her the magnesium pellets by themselves and she refused. After taking out this supplement, she is eating again.
I just ordered the Ultra SmartCalm and I hope she will eat them.

Actually Did the Opposite of Intended Use
I thought I would try magnesium for my OTTB that can be a bit tense. I've read that magnesium can help relaxing muscles particularly for horses who sweat a lot and get agitated while being groomed. In just two weeks of being on this, my gelding got excessively agitated and constipated. I found this odd, as they say the main thing you need to watch for with a magnesium supplement is loose stool. I've taken him off it and he's feeling much better. I will not be giving it to him again and if I consider magnesium in the future, I think I will try a liquid form.

So far so good!
My mare had been on this for 2 months now and I’m already seeing a difference. She is a super hot and pretty anxious horse naturally with this she is still energetic but it definitely takes the edge off. She’s less excitable and way more controllable. So far I’m happy with this product!

we can trail ride again!
I used to fox hunt in addition to show dressage when I first got my OTTB. As he gained weight and a top line he started rearing, bucking, spooking and displayed nervous energy. I had to stop trail riding all together and was still nervous for those naughty moments in the ring. After 1 week on magnesium I had my sweet boy back. He's low drama again and after 1 month we've even been venturing back out on the trail after 3 years! I have also noticed some improvement with an old muscle injury- weve made the transition from 1st level to second level because I trust him more and he is using himself. I'm a veterinarian and NEVER expected such results- intially I tried it to appease my trainer. Wow- she was right!

Solved Horses Anxiety
My horse is very anxious throughout the ride and while standing saddled up. Chews at the bit pretty consistently pulling it into his back molars. No dental issues. Straight anxiety. The magnesium SOLVED this problem. No more chewing and chopping. Stands quietly while getting groomed and when saddled. Did not help with the spookiness per say, but i am pleased it helped with the anxiety.

Amazing
I got this for my mare when other calming supplements failed her. Since starting her on this she has a puppy dog personality. She remains calm when things are busy around her while riding. This is one thing I will never go without. Also thanks to Smartpaks, she always gets the right amount everyday and I dont have to worry about running out.

Works wonders!
I have a 5yo ottb who has always been hot and a very forward ride. We tried a few calming supplements and none really worked. My picky eater doesn’t have any issues eating it and it has helped his demeanor tremendously and he will stay on it for the foreseeable future.

My horses refuse to eat it
I really liked the idea of pelleted Magnesium, and at first, both of my horses seemed to like it well enough. Within a week, though, both have begun refusing any bucket of feed/supplement that includes this product. No surprise for my picky gelding, but even my mare, who is generally happy to eat whatever she's offered, turns up her nose at this stuff. Yesterday I tried offering both horses each element of their respective buckets separately, and this is the thing they object to. I can't comment on the efficacy of the supplement itself -- I assume it's perfectly fine if the horses actually swallow it.

Good Product - Strong Smell
I had my horse on Ultra Calm SmartPaks for a couple years. He's matured a lot & is 8 now so I took him off them and thought I would try the MVP Magnesium 5000 as a replacement...a much lower dose of magnesium. After using them for a couple days I noticed that he wouldn't touch his grain. We tried a couple things to get him to eat it but nothing worked. They have a rather strong smell so I'm guessing that's why he refused it.
He's been very calm out on the trails so maybe he doesn't need a calming supplement now. I called your outstanding customer service dept. and they gave me a refund credit which I greatly appreciate. I'll continue to be a SmartPak customer in the future. Thank you!

Bought this for my TB with kidney problems who can't have much sugar in his diet. Has helped keep his magnesium levels good, and have definitely noticed a change in how much better he feels. He loves the taste as well! The only problem is I bought the 10 pound bag and found the bag's quality not to be great, had to move the supplement to a container.

Different kind of Reaction
I bought this for my hunter who struggles with anxiety, and my jumper who has a bit of a careful peek at the jumps.
The hunter refused to eat it, and actually refused to eat anything for a few weeks after because he hated it so much (not a complete unusual reaction from him). It has a distinct smell I don't even particularly care for.
The jumper eats is right up, but I wouldn't say its taken his peek away. I have seen a difference in his hair & hoof growth since he's been on this supplement. I'm on the fence about continuing with him since I don't think its actually improving his quietness level, but it's clearly helping his hair & hooves.

My experienced endurance horse had been getting very difficult to handle the last couple of months-bucking, running through the bit, bolting. On a hunch I started her on a double dose of magnesium 10 days ago. For our ride today she was back to normal-14 miles alone trotting and cantering on a loose rein with only a single little spook in place. Magnesium won't fix crazy if a deficiency isn't the underlying problem, but this is an easy and effective diagnostic and solution.
