Really Love!
I bought this a month ago 'in case of need'. It's been really hot here - around 100 degrees for a few weeks - so this has come in especially handy. I trailer my horse to a trainer 3 days a week. In this weather, hydration is of paramount concern. When we come back to the stable, I mix up hydration hay, and beet pulp in a healthy amount of water. My horse loves it and I know he's getting a jump start on the fluid he needs.

Hydration hay is working great for my little mini
My mini looks forward to his hydration hay. He has learned to eat it without applesauce which makes life easier. I like the fact that in this heat he is getting extra moisture.

Hydration Hay Great for Aging Mare
Switched mare with bad teeth over from pellets soaked into mash to soaked hydration hay and she loves it. Texture is closer to natural forage but still soaked for eating ease plus she doesn’t drink as much water as she should and this helps her water intake.

My horse loves it
My vet recommended it for my mini. She loves it. Much better than hay alone. Runs around till I bring it to her.

Useful
My horse goes off feed at shows. This was a good thing to bring to keep him hydrated and eating as he preferred it over his regular hay

Nice in a pinch.
My mare liked it dry. I have not tried it wet yet. Good to have in a pinch for extra food. But too expensive to use more often.

HYDRATION HAY!!!
I can't say enough about this hay. Very beneficial for any rehydration of you horse, gets water into your horse quickly to help with colic, diarrhea, hot days, cold weather non drinkers. You can use a whole brick or just partial added to the feed.

Hydration Hay
My mare had 4 teeth removed and can no longer masticate hay. Pellets do not keep her busy or happy. The Hydrating Hay is just perfect and convenient to feed. She is a TB and picky eater and she loves this. She likes it soupy.

I love this stuff!
I originally bought it for a sick horse who wasn't drinking enough, but I've ended up using it almost daily for other things. I crumble up about a sixth of a block and feed it dry to each horse before I ride. Soaks up acid in their stomach! Also great to provide wet when trailering - great way to keep them hydrated on the road.

GREAT FOR SENIORS
My 33 year old Mustang mare can not eat regular hay. She also will not eat hydration hay wet. I sit and scrub down each block so there are no clumps and she dives in. If you have a horse that won't eat the hay wet, break the block down for them so they can eat it that way.

Disappointed
I had high hopes that i could give this to my horse at shows when it is very hot and he isn’t drinking much. However, he won’t eat it!! He sniffed it and dipped his tongue, and won’t touch it. Bummer.

Hydration hay
I am very pleased with the product. It's so convenient to have it delivered to my barn. My horses love it! When Smart Pak ads a variety of feed to their selection, I won't need to go to the feed store!

Awesome!
I have this on hand for times my horse has to be in due to bad weather or for sudden weather changes when he might be less likely to adjust his water intake. I recently used it to introduce hay slowly after an impaction colic. He didn't want to drink but would slurp this up, which helped keep him hydrated until his normal thirst kicked in.

Absolutely Love!
Originally bought this for my horse as a treat during the winter. He stays in pretty consistent work all year round and I bought this to ensure he stayed hydrated properly throughout winter and this does just what I needed it to! I do feed this to him year round as he loves it and it keeps him hydrated during those hot summer days! I just throw it in a bucket of water and let it soak while i tack up and then flip the block before i get on. By the time I get off, it has soaked up all the water and it ready to give him after he is cooled down. I like to add a little more before I put it in his bucket as my horse just likes it really soupy, but it is really just personal preference. Although i originally purchased this for my own horse, we have a few older horses as well as an OTTB who was just recently brought off the track that we started feeding this to them for lunch. They all really like it and it helps keep them hydrated as well as it being easy to munch on as it is soaked in water and turns into a soupy mush. I really like it for our OTTB to help put a little weight on him. Every horse I have presented this to has absolutely loved it and licks the bucket clean! If you have a picky eater, hard keeper, older horse, or really any horse, this product is a go to! Really great for hydration, easy for them to eat, and a very nutritious snack!

A must have for my horse that can no longer eat regular hay. This provides long stem fiber whereas soaked pellets do not. Product ready to go in 10 minutes, very convenient.

Excellent for my very old horse!
Hydration hay helped my 34 year old horse gain weight and be healthy again! He has trouble chewing regular hay, and hay cubes didn't agree with him. I'm very happy my vet recommended this because it has helped him put on a ton of weight and he is feeling so much better!

Suprised that they ate it!
The horse I was going to transport is pretty picky and I wanted to make sure he stayed hydrated going across 3 states. I gave this in warm water and he liked it. Once it was cold I added a little apple juice to see if he would eat more and he did. I will keep these on hand for camping too!

A life saver
Have old and retired horses, three with significant colic history. In this off and on horrible cold winter, none of them will drink adequately. They love this stuff when it is soaked in hot water and happily slurp it down. I add more water till it is almost hay soup. Have used other compressed hays, and this one is by far the best.

GREAT PRODUCT !!!
We have a pony that is approximately 35 years old - she has very few teeth left. She has no problem eating her sweet feed, but cannot chew hay or even grass. She can "crop" grass but when she gets a mouth full, she has to spit it out because she cannot chew it. Purina's Hydration Hay solved our "roughage/forage" problem. THANK YOU PURINA for saving our pony !!!!!

My Horses Love This Product
My horses love this stuff. Can't find it in my area so was very happy when I saw that Smart Pak carried it. Great for those ice cold days we sometimes get. I put this in a bucket with warm water and let it sit. Stir it up and give to my horses. This way I know they are getting some food and water on an icy day. They love it.

Great for summer show season!
Love this product and so does my horse. My horse is not a big eater at horse shows, which is concerning considering the stress of competition and the heat of summer. He would usually lose weight during the weekend competition, even with soaked alfalfa, ulcer medication and probiotics. With recommendations from my vet, we tried Hydration Hay. He gobbles up his hydration hay! Since I've started adding hydration to our routine at horse shows, he did not lose weight and seemed calmer. Hydration hay has given me piece of mind that my horse is getting fluids and is eating during the heat of the competition season. I don't go to horse shows without it!

Simple to use
Excellent for the elder horse who might be missing teeth. Soaking it in cold water right from a stock tank works. It "fluffs" up in minutes. I've used it on 3 senior horses and they love it from soupy to a drier mash. Great for hauling to rides or shows to keep your horse on hay you know it will eat. Our negative issue is no one carries it in stock for hundreds of miles. Shipping charges make it outlandishly expensive. As in $8 a FLAKE! I wish it were marketed harder so more people would use it and feed stores would want to carry it.
