Great Product
My original review was that my 17 year old TB hunter refused to eat this product so I stopped giving it to him. As the summer has gone on he has lost weight, lost his appetite and his coat was not as healthy as it usually is. Suspecting that long term Bute use had irritated his stomach, I wanted to try this product again. I have to mix it with applesauce to get him to eat it but within a week he is putting wight on, cleaning his feed bucket and his coat it shinier. He still has room for improvement and I will keep giving him GUT even if I have to buy applesauce to go with it. Thank you so much for helping my horse SmartPak!

Every horse in the barn gets GUT
GUT is the one product every horse in the barn gets. I first tried it on a young mare who was a nervous wreck and a poor eater; three days on GUT and she was finishing meals for the first time. I never had to treat with GastroGard. Sold!

My horse likes the flavor and readily eats it. The powder can blow around a little so some moist food helps. She seems to be less irritable on the Gut powder.

Did not work
I purchased G.U.T in hopes that it would help my horse with ulcers and it is less expensive for me that Neighlox. Well I had high hopes for this product as friends had recommended it, sorry to say it did not pass the test on my horse. I am more than half way through the container and I have just ordered more Neighlox :(

Great product
I noticed my horse stopped running to the gate to greet me when I would go get him out of his pasture. He was also biting at his sides. Another friend mentioned that their horse had similar symptoms and had been diagnosed with ulcers. Since my horse was on a daily dose of bute I needed something to counter the possible ulcer side effects. I researched and found that GUT was effective and would not build up in his system so I could use it daily. He's now back to his former happy self and I had no issues getting him to eat the supplement added to his grain.

I started using this on my 17 year old TB gelding who has been taking Bute daily for 3 years for arthritis. He has been very nippy when tightening the girth lately but has never shown signs of colic. I was hoping this would help protect his belly from the side effects of the Bute. He ate it ok for the first week but now he will not touch his grain at all. He is not typically a picky eater, I don't think he likes the vanilla taste of it

I found this to be an easy to feed supplement for suspected ulcers. It smells like cake mix and must taste good my mare readilly eats her grain with this on it. After a few weeks I have noticed improvement in the ulcer symptoms we were treating. An inexpensive way to help with any gastro issues.

Staying clear of ulcers
A screening clinic found bleeding ulcers in our mare (6 year old Hanoverian). Just started giving her this on the advice of a friend whose mare has been staying ulcer free ever since they have been using this product. I am hoping for the same result!

good stuff
My late teen-aged TBx exhibits chronic mild colic symptoms. He's a nervous-nellie and has never been diagnosed with ulcers, but we've found that a low dose of G.U.T. seems to eliminate the colic symptoms! He eats it with gusto, licking his dish clean every night.
I'll be keeping this stuff in my barn.

The horses that came up postive to the pressure points for ulcer were put on G.U.T. With in a few weeks their overall attitude when cinching up was better, and worked under saddle much better!

great product
I had tried many products to help my older gelding who was having colic episodes almost weekly. The vet suspected an ulcer problem. Nothing helped until I started using Gut. It's been over a year and a half now and he seems healthy and happy again. I'll never be without it.

I have a senior TB mare that is prone to ulcers. I have tried several products to maintain her symptoms over the years and always come back to this one. Its the best long term maintenance product I've used and most cost effective

Great for ulcers and maintenance
My horse was diagnosed with ulcers 4 years ago after having symptoms of Cushings. For healing, I was sent home with ulcer pastes but for long term an expensive daily supplement was recommended. I found this product as an alternative for my budget. It has all the active ingredients recommended and my horse has been ulcer free and happy for 4 years! I did have to manage her salt intake for a while too but no more ulcers! I show 3rd level dressage with my chestnut mare.

Gooey Bucket
I decided to try this product after going through many other ulcer preventatives with no results (horse still got ulcers under stress of showing). The main issue with this supplement is its consistency. It creates a cloud of dust when scooped, sticks to my supplement containers (I don't use smartpaks), and as soon as my horse licks it becomes a sludge at the bottom of his feed bin. He must eat some of it because I can smell it on his nose, but I know I'm losing a lot of it since I clean it out of his feed bucket weekly. No word yet on if it works, but I don't plain on buying more when it runs out.

Huge Improvement
I found that G.U.T. works extremely well for my ulcer prone mare. Saw a huge improvement wihtin a month on the loading dosage and then maintained well with just one scoop a day. Less girthiness, grumpiness, and generally more comfortable horse. After a recent colic this was the best preventative measure against future episodes! Worth every penny!

Working so far
My mare's attitude was very poor. Bitting, aggresive and losing weight. She is also having teeth problems. I decided to try this supplement because I think the stress and pain from the teeth problems was causing stomach upset possibly ulcers. It has only been a few weeks but I see a good improvement. She is not warm and fuzzy but seems to be much more content and relaxed.

G.U.T. is a must
I started my 7 year old mare on this product after noticing her snipping what getting the girth tightened. After only 1 week she is more relaxed and doesn't show signs of discomfort.

Worked well
Purchased because of the L-glutamine and other ingredients. Double dosed first couple weeks. Horse is much calmer, less teeth grinding.
Horse ate just fine with feed. Powder is pretty fine and spatters easily.

Fantastic
After an initial round of GastroGuard to treat existing ulcers, I have had my horse on G.U.T. for three years. No reoccurrence of ulcers, he loves the taste and it even smells good. Also helps when he has bouts of diarrhea in the spring, I double dose and he clears up in a day. For the price you can't beat it.

Great Product
This is the second horse that I have had on GUT. Both are somewhat picky eaters and they both liked the taste. Works well for daily maintenance after ensuring that existing ulcers have healed.

Great Product
I am giving this product to my 29 year old mare. She has been off her feed some and when I added GUT to her grain she ate it all up. Her appetite has improved and she seems more comfortable. I would recommend this product.

Great sounding product!
I was told about this product and am an avid Smartpak customer, I have an almost 5 yr. old gelding who is a BIG PIG, will eat and put anything in his mouth! But for some reason, the first time I gave it to him (mixed with 1lb. beet pulp, 1/2lb grain and other suppl.) he sniffed it like crazy, took a tiny bite and walked away shaking his head and trying to spit it out! I tried several days to "hide" it in his food, to no avail...I had to dump his dinner and start all over for a week! I do believe this product is very good, my gelding just found something in it that he does not like, now his mare pasture mate had no problem eating his leftovers! So, if your horse will eat it, I think it is a great product!

Great product with a nasty taste!
We use this product every time we give our horses any medication. It does a GREAT job protecting our horses tummies, I wouldn't go without it! The only problem is getting them to eat it! It has a weird vanilla-ish smell that no horse I've encountered seems to care for! I mix mine with a little water and give it through an oral syringe, and viola, problem solved! Very high quality, and pretty affordable...just takes a little work to administer.

Great for a horse that colics on bute
My mare has Navicular and has to be on Bute periodically. She did colic once and the vet recommended I use G.U.T. She also takes a lot of Isoxuprine tablets each day. I give her a scoop of G.U.T. every morning and she has not had a problem with medications. I have told other people about this product and the only place I have found it is at Smart Pak Equine. It is the most affordable product I have found for long range use. Ordering is simple and it is delivered to my door in a matter of days.
