Easily Digestible Source Of Cool Energy
CoolStance® is a premium quality coconut meal that is dried, baked, and ground to provide a “cool” source of calories for horses. This “cool” source of energy comes from quality protein and Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) found in the coconut meal. These fatty acids are readily digestible and also support skin and coat health. Additionally, this highly palatable supplement can be fed dry or as a mash. Finally, CoolStance® is low on the glycemic index as it contains less than 11% Non-Structural Carbohydrates (NSC), making it a great choice for horses that need additional calories but need to be on low sugar diets or tend to exhibit excitable behavior. Please note: days supply will vary depending on the amount being fed.

Love CoolStance!!
I love CoolStance! I have an older gelding who has some trouble keeping weight on. I tried CoolStance because a trainer I started riding for swears by it. It is high in fat but low in sugar which is what I was looking for. You have to add water to make a mash which is easy enough. I mix in some other supplements and grain and my horse loves it! He eats every last drop. His weight has improved so I know the product is working. Just know you need to keep it in cool, dry storage so it doesn't go bad.

Metal Found in Bag
This is the first time I have purchased Coolstance. I fed a third of the bag with no issues but then I found a sizable piece of metal that looked like it went through processing. I was the size of one of the bigger pieces of copra in the bag, jagged and bent. After finding that, I can't continue feeding this.

Keeps weight on!
Dr Geoff Tucker changed my horses life. She is a 25 year old hard keeper, very few teeth and PPID. I tried everything to keep weight on her- beet pulp, calf manna, bio sponge for squirts, supplements. Everything. Every winter she had the squirts. It would freeze on her tail and hocks. It made made her miserable which made me sad.
Dr. T gave the no grain challenge. She gets 1lb SBM- dehulled and oil removed. Pure protein, 1lb coolstance and alfalfa pellets to make a warm mash; split into 3 meals a day.
She loves the coolstance so much. Because she wasn’t under weight I only give a pound a day and she has maintained all winter. So the bag lasts 3 months. Her poop has never been ‘apples’ in the the 5 years I’ve had her; until this diet. I waited 6 months to write a review. Grain free has been so good for all our horse but for those that need the calories CoolStance will always be my go to. It’s the only brand with no added ag. byproducts or grain.

Great for skin allergies
My 28 year old gelding has always suffered from hypersensitivity to insects resulting in hives, mane and tail rubbing and just miserable summers here in FL. He’s been on Cool Stance w Medicine Bag Complete mineral/vitamin supplement for two months along with daily grooming and his skin allergies have disappeared. No more crusty mane and tail and his midline has completely healed.

Great fat source for senior horses
I was happy to find this available here. My hoof care person recommended it to me for my senior mare (33 year old Arabian) since I wanted to stop feeding bagged senior feed. I give a little to my other older geldings too (mixed into their supplements bucket) and it makes their coats shine. A little goes a long way.

Horses love it!
I have been using Coolstance for over a year, and my 2 love it. It is a great way to get water in the horses and for my old [almost 30] guy, it gives him an easy to eat meal.

Fabulous for my allergy prone ottb
I have had to create a personalized grain free diet for my ottb mare who is allergic to soy, rice bran, and oats. There are zero commercial feeds that don't contain those things, she is a hard keeper, and a hot kind of horse who needs to be on low starch. Since switching from rice bran as our source of fat and extra calories to cool stance, she has filled out and her coat has become radiant, she has been calm and focused, and she has been overall incredibly healthy. She eats the recommended amount in addition to hay pellets and vitamins/minerals and stays healthy and glossy.

Horse came on it and I have continued it because it was nonGMO and has good fats. A lot of people thinks it smells great. I do add a great deal of water to it and it expands well. Have not had a rancid bag. I do add a cup of a grain concentrate now and then to ensure she is getting all essentials but it is not needed. Just seems strange to be feeding coconut to a horse.

My Gypsy Gelding is shiny!
I thought I would try this product as a carrier for my gelding who is a pig.. We needed something that would blow up so he felt he was eating more then he was... and it needed to be super tasty so that I could hide the supplements in there.. He LOVES it... and 4oz of this blows up into a huge portion (or at least he thinks it is).

Ate it ok, but also their poop
Horses liked the taste of this product but I found that both of them started eating their poop a few days after I introduced it. They have never eaten it before, and are out 24/7 with hay on a “pasture paradise” track on 4 acres that I clean daily. I’m guessing that maybe it is not fully digesting or passed through enough residue to smell good enough to eat. within 2-3 days of taking them off, no more poop eating. Unfortunately, will discontinue.

Wasted Money
I bought 2 bags to save the shipping cost and have ended up throwing both bags away. My mare would not eat it, or even go near it. The smell is horrible. You can smell it throughout the barn. She is diabetic and I was trying to find a feed for her. SmartPax needs to provide or sell a small sample to try before you spend $44 for a bag. I learned my lesson. The 4.6 review score is very misleading. All done with SmartPax.

Not worth the money

Great Product!
I bought this to help add weight to my 27 yo WB and 18 yo OTTB. They both look great!! They're not a huge fan of the taste so I mix it with a little Triple Crown Senior and they love their mash!

Exceptional Feed
CoolStance Copra is the best feed for horses. If you want a shiny coat, great feet and perfect conditioning without making your horses hot then this is the feed you should choose. It is very hard to find local suppliers so SmartPak has saved the day!

Great for no grain diet!
After I did a lot of research about grain and what is does/doesn't do for horses I decided to try CoolStance Copra. My OTTB is 8 and has been on it for about 2 months now, along with a multi vitamin and free choice 2nd cut. I did not notice a change in weight (he is at a great weight), but I did notice a change in his attitude. He used to paw at feeding time and pin his ears, he is not aggressive anymore at feeding time, in fact other horses are pawing and speaking their mind (lol). So far I like this product, and the general consensus I found was that if your horse does not eat it then there was a bad review. If anything changes I will update, but so far I love it! My guy eats it dry, you can feed it either way!

Great for hard keepers.
Ive been using this for a couple of months on a very tough keeper who can't tolerate grain. Definitely has improved his over all body condition without adding a "rocket fuel" effect like grain does for him. We soak all our feed and I can't imagine feeding larger quantities of this dry. Only downside is price.

Great product
I have an OTTB that has been kind of difficult to put weight on and stick to a low starch/sugar diet but after about 2 bags he has filled out great and I don't have to feed him a ton of it. Wonderful product.

My horses and I love this low starch option
My horses and I love this low starch option. I have a few horse that are prone to thrush and diet is a big deal. I do like this product for a low starch add in to their daily mash. I do find it a little expensive bit it works for all my hoses which makes it easier during morning and evening feed. We have 13 horses.

I feed my horse soybean meal and Coolstance with some herbs. He is absolutely beautiful! Excellent topline and condition! The main reason for writing this review is to inform horse owners about his 8 month uveitis and thrush; I could not rid him of this infection!! I finally went back to basics with his diet and started him on the Coolstance, within a month both ailments were gone with no other changes. He lives out 24/7 and has free choice alfalfa with grass all day. I love how this feed has helped him bloom!

Unfortunately my horse refused to eat this even mixed with soaked alfalfa. On a personal note, the smell made me nauseous for some reason. I've never purchased it before so I don't know what it's supposed to smell like but I found it repulsive. Evidently my horse agreed with me.
