Confidence EQ® is a copy of the Equine Appeasing Pheromone secreted by mares as they nurse their foals. In horses, the presence of this pheromone is a signal that the environment is safe and secure, which can help reduce stress and facilitate learning. Confidence EQ is recommended for horses of all ages to help manage new or unexpected stimuli and reduce stress in situations that can commonly cause nervousness or anxiety, including: trailering, veterinarian and farrier visits, new environments and training activities. Each single-use packet contains 5mL of gel. There are 10 single-use packets per box.

How to apply Confidence EQ to horsesConfidence EQ® is a copy of the Equine Appeasing Pheromone secreted by mares as they nurse their foals. In horses, the presence of this pheromone is a signal that the environment is safe and secure, which can help reduce stress and facilitate learning. Confidence EQ is recommended for horses of all ages to help manage new or unexpected stimuli and reduce stress in situations that can commonly cause nervousness or anxiety, including: trailering, veterinarian and farrier visits, new environments and training activities. Administer CONFIDENCE EQ® approximately 30 minutes before the stressful situation. The horse should be calm and quiet when Confidence EQ® is applied. Tear open one end of the packet and expel approximately ½ of the gel on your index finger. Apply the gel to the bottom edge of the horse’s nostril (not too deep, or in the mucosa). Apply the remainder of the gel in the packet to the other nostril using the same procedure. Repeat the application every 2 - 2.5 hours, if necessary.

My gentle, well trained mare had become anxious when her heat cycles took over her normally good mind, and was distracted, and screamed like a weaning for her barn mates. When I rubbed Confidence EQ on her nostrils, within seconds she took a deep breath, her eye softened, and we had a positive day. Not a cure-all for separation anxiety, but it allowed me to get her to focus on me.

Ok
I bought this a little while ago and I haven’t noticed this amazing magical difference but I do think it took a bit of the edge off. My boy is extra weird and spooky so everything we try with him is really hot or miss. He definitely thinks the application is weird, but he has settled down while I do it now which makes me think he must as least like it a little bit. I think it’s definitely worth a try if you want to but every horse is different and the effects will be different as well

Works great for my green OTTB
My trainer and I have been using Confidence EQ for a few weeks and it has significantly decreased my green bean OTTB's distractibility. (He loves other horses and is very nosey) Confidence EQ has been key to his training! Even on his distracted days, with Confidence EQ on board we are able to capture his attention and still have a quality ride. Does not sedate, it just puts him in a better mindset.

Excellent Results
ConfidenceEQ is all that is says it is. I have tired other products, but none that work this quickly with longer lasting benefits. This product has helped my nervous horse relax to get him through the beginning of stressful situations.

I was very pleased with the results
I received a sample of this product from the manufacturer and decided to try it on my daughter's gelding this past weekend during a dressage schooling show. It works. While tied to the trailer (near a road), he was getting anxious, so I put the gel on his lower nostril as directed and within minutes his body softened. While he was not dull, he was no longer snorting at every little thing. It was exactly what we needed.

Did the job
I had bought a single packet at the feed store and finally tried it for both of my horses just to see how they responded to it. It helped them both quite nicely and took the edge off of them. So I bought the complete box from smart pak to have on hand when I need the edge taken off of them. That is the response I was wanting.

Confidence EQ
I purchased this about a month ago after receiving a free sample from the product company. It really worked on my horse who gets nervous on trailer rides and in new environments. I will continue to use it because other than drugs it’s the only thing I’ve found that works.
If your horse has an issue with you putting anything on or in their nose you must desensitize them first. That’s the only down fall to this product.

it works!!!!!!!!
i have an HYPP horse and I bought this to defray any excess anxiety in certain situations. I was pleasantly surprised...it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you! it can be deadly for my boy to have a severe HYPP episode and this helps with anxiety, which can be a trigger.

It worked!
I ordered this for my mare who can be very anxious & buddy sour when she doesn’t see her goats. Today our farrier came, & usually my mare is a complete professional & stands, Well today she was moody, screaming for her goats, not listening at all. I decided to give this a try, I did 1/2 a dose in each nostril & wow, less then 10 mins in she was back to being the sweet mare I have. She nuzzled the farrier & he forgave her lol. It lasted just like they said it would & she was so relaxed she took a nap in the arena. I’ll be using this before I take her out on trail.

Showed up at my barn today to see tree work being done right next to my horse. Chain saws and wood chippers. My mare was just frozen with fear. Would not eat her hay. I was actually a little nervous to be near her thinking she would explode. I just got the confidence eq and thought I'd try it. It worked pretty quick. She relaxed enough to start eating even while they continued to chip. She was still upset but was coping better. I was really glad I had this on hand.

"Takes off the edge"
Helps calm those nerves when your horse might be a bit on edge for whatever reason. Does not "drug" your horse--just slows them down a bit to help prevent any panic attacks.

Amazing product!
Excellent product. My horse gets nervous at shows. I applied a small amount in both nostrils before leaving the barn. I saved the remainder by folding the top of the packet.When I opened the trailer door I was so pleased to see a VERY calm, relaxed horse. He stood still to be groomed and tacked better than he ever has in the time I've owned him. I was amazed. I reapplied it a few times throughout the horse show because we had to wait around longer than expected. There is enough in the packet for about 3-4 applications.
Today I used some left over Confidence EQ for the farrier and my horse fell asleep while being shod. He NEVER does that. My farrier was so pleased.

Really works
Used this product for a year on my hunter. He can be nervous and suspicious of things in the ring, like the jumps. I put this in his nose 30 minutes before our class and he's so much calmer. Great product.

worked for my mare!
I am using this for my mare, she is herd bound and after moving her to a new barn I was starting over again with her anxiety being away from the horses, i have been applying this, grooming her: then taking her out and about: she is so much calmer and focused on me than prior to using it, I have had her out for 2 hours within a week,which is a huge advance for her, that took over a month in the past: and her anxiety was higher this time. My only complaint is the cost!!! way too expensive.

Does not do what it claims
Too much of a mess. You will try and use it and as you do, not know what to do with so much gel. I have a hot tb, and it did nothing all the times I have tried it. Total waste of $. She was stressed to the max as normal. I was hopeful but was disappointed.

Unintended personality change in my gelding
I read that the ingredients in this product mimic pheromones given off by lactating mares. I applied it to my anxious, bottom of the herd gelding before doing ground work. Normally he is a little afraid to leave my side when in an indoor setting doing ground work so I wanted to see if this would give him more confidence. I didn't get all the gel in his nostrils, so foolishly wiped the excess on my jacket. He became a little too confident and pushy and wouldn't get his nose off the spot where I wiped the gel. When I tried to push him off he reared. Luckily we got a chain over his nose and another person (who didn't have gel on his jacket!) led him outside. The whole time he was being led he tried to get over to me. Once outside he pulled us over to a couple of geldings in a paddock, who were extremely interested in his nostrils. One of these geldings is dominant. My guy started "grooming" the dominant gelding's face -- something he'd NEVER do with a dominant horse. So, yes, this stuff really seems to work, but may have unintended consequences!

Really made a difference with buddy-sour horse!
I had to get my guy on a trailer for a barn move, but he's impossible to cross tie and wrap. While I did have to bring his buddies into the barn, he was incredibly calm and stood still for wrapping. He did his usual stubborn crawl onto the trailer, but there was no crying for his friends and he wasn't scared. He was perfectly calm for the entire ride. I think this product really worked.

Extra help for problem loaders
I bought this product as an alternative to dangerous drugs for helping my anxious horse with trailering. It helps to take the edge off the situation without drugging and dangerous side effects. My trainer uses it for her horse when showing because it isn't illegal. Not a magic bullet for good training but it does help in stressful situations.

Great training aid
I've used Confidence for a while for my two sometimes frisky horses. It must be used as directed and does not guarantee a placid horse but it does take the edge off. If you use it in a difficult situation multiple times in a fairly short time period, the horses become acclimated to the activity and are much calmer. They are not drugged - it just gives them peace of mind (or something like that).

My horse is no longer dripping with sweat
My horse has an issue with trailering - he will get on and stand calmly, but by the time you drive even 5 minutes, he is literally dripping with sweat. I tried this product to see if it would help him out. If I give it to him a full 30 mins before attempting to load, he walks right on the first try and isn't sweaty at all after driving over an hour away. I use a full packet each time he trailers. It works wonders for my baby. Thank you!

Doesn't work!
I tried this on my barrel horse before he made a run, and it did not affect him one bit. Not near strong enough for a truly high energy/anxious horse

Calming OTTB
We have an OTTB and he wasn't the at best loading. Used this 30 minutes before loading and he was great. It was a great way to calm him down and show him it was ok. He is better at it now. He could be very peeky at shows. We used it once to get him around the ring at school. After that, he was very relaxed. It was easy to apply.

I have an app cross who can get a little wound up before shows. Esp if he's leaving his buddies. This has been helpful. It by no means cures his behavior but it has made it much more manageable.

Works, but beware when it wears off!
I used this on my 12 year old gelding who gets very nervous and anxious about trailering. I followed the directions, gave it to him and left the barn so he'd chill alone. Loaded him right up, drove for thirty minutes to the meet, and he was amazing. I was sold! Tacked him up and went out. Perfect. About ten minutes into the ride he became a crazy, unmanageable, wild animal. It was almost like I took a blindfold off of him and he freaked out, not knowing where he was. (We ride at the same place twice a week.) He was so out of control that I had to dismount and lead him back to the trailer. He NEVER acts like that! The total time from administration to freak out was about an hour and a half. So, yes, it works. But watch your time and be aware when it wears off. I won't use it again in that situation, but I will try it again on my youngster when I take her away from her buddies. I used it once, but didn't notice a significant difference.

Really Impressed!
I've had this for a few months now and have used it a few times and felt the results were good, but yesterday was the true test. Our first dressage show of the season happened to fall on a day where there were 20+ mph winds. My typically spooky, reactive OTTB mare was cool as a cucumber, even when I was not. Standards were falling around us in the warm up, trash cans were blowing over and trash was being blown around us, she never noticed. In the middle of our test a gust of wind blew the indoor gate INTO us and although she got tense, there was not the explosive blow up I had anticipated. She cantered right by the judges table with the large barn door banging behind them with out a problem.
