Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Horse's Unicorn Bit! The first bit ever that hasn't caused my horse any stress and actually gives him confidence! (disclaimer: I did wrap the bit up to the lozenge with sealtex as he's shown he prefers some cushion - ashame for such a nice bit - but whatever he likes!). My horse came to me in a pelham as a jumper and as a dressage rider I wanted him in a snaffle as befit his training level (not advanced enough by far for a leverage bit in the dressage ring). When I started on my snaffle quest it became apparent that bits were a high source of stress for him. After trying numerous snaffles with different mouth pieces and different styles of bridles and not finding anything that didn't cause him to feel he had to rush and pull and brace, I was so done with causing him stress that I just put him in a hackamore with a rubber mullen bit (reins on the hackamore - bit just for presence) hoping one day he'd acclimate just a little bit - this was better but still not the level of relaxation I was hoping for. Finally I bit the bullet and started trying more expensive bits to see if there was anything that I could come up with that might be okay with him (the novocontact was a big NO! - it freaked the snot out him). This bit has far surpassed all my expectations. I wish I had found it years ago!. When he does start to open his mouth and suck his tongue back the lozenge moves and seems to redirect his focus as it's designed to do. It's such a great feeling to feel him be so happy and confident in his tack. It's what I always wanted for him! Not saying it's going be great for every horse but definitely worth a try if you have a super sensitive guy or gal. It comes with a hefty price so Smartpak's fantastic customer service is so reassuring and makes me feel better about laying out that much cash for a bit, knowning that they will work with me if it hadn't worked out for him and yay we found our unicorn bit!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very harsh I have been trying literally every bit out there for my recent import. He goes amazing no matter what I put him in, but we haven't yet found a bit that he likes when jumping. He opens his mouth and sticks his tongue out. Other than that, he is still pretty perfect. This bit was recommended for sensitive horses. He absolutely hated it and went terribly in it. I don't normally review things, but this bit took a horse that will tolerate literally anything, and made him extremely angry. He simply would not move into the contact. I will be returning this and using my myler level 3 D until I come across something else. For a bit that is advertised as suitable for extremely sensitive horses, this was a rather rude surprise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive but a good bit to try I bought this bit for a 22 year old OTTB. She tends to be a little heavy in the hand. I did not notice a tremendous difference but she seemed happy in this bit. She has always gone in a KK Ultra style bit. This bit seems to fit the mouth better than the Ultra. I wouldn't say this is the miracle bit but it is definitely worth having in your bit collection. I have also used it on a young OTTB right off the track. Again, not a miracle, but the horse seemed to like the bit overall. This bit is really overpriced but there is nothing else on the market that is like it. I like that you can get a smaller size as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Money I purchased the Dynamic RS WH Ultra for a 4 year old draft Mule who was just started under saddle. He is very mouthy and will try to get his tongue over the bit if he is unhappy. With the Dynamic, he licks and chews, but does not fuss or chomp the bit excessively. The roller seemed to relax and focus him. The Dee Ring gives plenty of control while the mouth piece design enhances a soft connection. This is one of many Sprenger bits I have purchased over the years and I find them all to be well worth the spend.

I bought this bit with hesitation thinking the roller may encourage him to play more. The bit has worked out great and the solid position of the D rings versus the loose ring make it a nicer choice for a horse learning to steer.
