SmartDark & Handsome helps bring out a deep, dark shine in black, bay, and brown coats. This unique formula provides a targeted combination of ingredients specifically designed to help horses maintain their most beautiful coat color. Flaxseed serves as a high-quality source of omega 3 fatty acids, which support healthy skin and a shiny coat. Paprika, a spice rich in beta carotene and other antioxidants, supports a deep, rich coat color. Finally, 5 mg of biotin and minerals such as copper and zinc support a healthy, resilient haircoat. Plus, it contains fenugreek for a delicious flavor and aroma your horse will love! SmartDark & Handsome is ideal for horses with black or dark bay coats, but may also be helpful for any horse that has a coat prone to sun bleaching. All about that horse from
It definitely works!!
I wish it came in pellet form, my horse just leaves it in his bucket unless I spray the grain so it sticks to the pellets! My other horses love it!! Lol but they don’t need it!

So far, so good!
My horse loves this and cleans it up readily out of his bucket. It is winter, and I notice a softer, shiny winter coat with less static, his hoof grow out is looking great, and I will update this review in the spring to see if his black coat remains (vs orangish fade) in the desert sun.

Amazing product!
I am so happy with this product! Not only were the results quick (within a month), but he hasn't had rainrot since. I have an Arabian gelding, and his coat looks so beautiful, and I am so glad that I haven't had to deal with rainrot. The photo shows before (top) and after (bottom) two months of smartdark & handsome

Good stuff, But Mare Dislikes It
I bought this as a replacement for my ususal darkening supplement, and it worked great, but after a while my mare would let the last of her grain and the Dark & Handsome in the bottom of her feed pan. She just does not like it's taste, or possible it's texture. Don't understand why, as she will lick the pan when given the "other" brand and the ingredients are pretty similar.

Amazing!
My gelding had faded from black to a very light brown, with patchy coloring throughout his body. I assume sun and possibly flyspray helped with the bleaching of his coat. I was desperate to get his coloring back to the rich dark color he once was. I started him on Dark and Handsome and within less than a month his bleaching was barely noticeable. I was and still am shocked at the amazing results. I would highly recommend this supplement, it is a miracle supplement.

Fast results
I started my black pony on this supplement about 4 months ago and he was so sun bleached he looked brown. He loves the taste, but he is definitely not a picky eater. I started seeing his black color coming back gradually after only a couple weeks. He is now completely black even with daily exposure to the sun. I definitely recommend this!

No Difference Seen in Coat
I started my mare on this supplement before she had bleached out for the summer. She is dark bay, or was rather. She bleached out like normal. No difference than when she was not on this supplement.

My horse hated the smell
Since my horse never ingested the supplement, I can't attest to it's worthiness of claim. What I can tell you is my horse absolutely refused to touch it, and he isn't a picky eater. He gobbles up all the other supplements, but this one smelled awful.

Worked Fast!!
I only used this for 1 month because my boy needed another supplement more than this one (trying to stay on budget). I noticed a difference within about a week. He stopped shedding (finally in June) and his coat was getting darker and very shiny. I will definitely consider using this again and recommend it.

Did not keep my Friesian Black.
Every year about June my Friesian gelding will start to fade, so I started this product well ahead of time. I keep him out of the sun 9-5, rinse off sweat, and keep a fly sheet on him. I was hoping this product would make a difference. Unfortunately it did not. Smartpak was kind to give me a partial refund. He is nice & shiny however.

I did put my colt on this a month a go Cree is,a,Grulla but he changes in early spring he is almost black then goes the lovely gray and then more buckskin
Being on this,product he is holding more of the dark gray so am very happy

Great results, horses enjoy the taste.
I have been using this product for over three months now. Helped with hair growth and his mane is longer than ever! I didn't notice the difference in his coat until our first show. The gypsy's black was so black other owners were wondering what l had done. He is 3/4 outdoor and not blanketed during the summer but his black stayed dark! Cheaper in price than other products but seems to work well on a longer timeline.

Cleveland Bay's summer coat is gorgeous

Great product!
Started my horse on this a few months before competition and I loved it. It was in October so I'm not sure how much of it was a new coat growing in and how much was this supplement but I would definitely use it again.

BEAUTIFUL COAT
I started using this product two months ago and my dark bay gelding started to shed his winter coat this past month and the difference in his coat was wonderful. He's dark and extremely shiny. I've always had a difficult time with his shine and this product made the difference I wanted! I'm hoping this product will maintain his color for the rest of summer along with his stall:) The only thing I don't like is that I have to soak his feed in order for him to eat all of the powder. He often picks it out if not.

Black pony colour returning

No effect on coat, but smells good to horse
Unfortunately, my black and white pinto did not respond to daily addition of this product to his diet. He loved the smell and taste though. SmartPak refunded my money and I am trying a different coat supplement next cycle.

Works very well!
I've had my chestnut gelding on SmartDark for over a year now. He's not a picky eater, and also gets another supplement that it can stick to, so eats it right up. Initial results take a while, so be patient! My boy's mane and tail are darker, and there are liver chestnut tones coming through. I DO keep him completely covered in a fly sheet from spring-fall, and/or turn him out at night to keep him away from saving sun rays.
