The Jury is still out.
I purchased this item in February after rescuing my OTTB from bad conditions. He was 300 lbs. underweight and very weak. I added this product after realizing he most likely had ulcer issues as well as his poor weight and body condition. He is slowly gaining weight and building up some muscle. I only gave the 3 stars since this process is slow. He is much improved but more time is needed.

Works really well
I bought this for a mare that has soft stools every winter when she gets put on hay. We'd tried different hays/feeds, but the soft/loose stools continued. We tried one scoop with minimal results. We put her on two scoops, along with a scoop of Source daily. Her stools are now normal. I have two more mares that have mild gas colic from time to time. So far, no more problems with them either. If your looking for a good product that is a little cheaper than the Smart GI, this product is for you. I've fed Smart GI, but can't afford to keep four mares on it. This is a good product..

I bought this product for a new horse I bought. He had a small episode of colic vet suspected ulcer have had him in it about 6 weeks and he has been doing great. Love that I don't have to add electrolytes they are in the product

It WORKS!
Great product! Used on a paint filly that was very sensitive to changes in hay and seasonal pasture weeds and it helped greatly in firming her poop! I've also used it when our other horses have had occasional tummy upsets and it seemed to work great for them as well! No issue with getting them to eat it, either!

Wonderful Product!!
I started my nervouse barrel horse on tract gard. hes a bad drinker when hauled and gets very hot and nervouse. He has done amazing on this product. drinks alot better and eats better on the road and over all feels good. Hes a picky eater and eats this right up.

Great for Show Horses
I have a mare that is in a rigorous training and showing schedule. She would be off feed the day after getting home from a show or lesson and never drank water well when we were away for the day. After treating her for gastric upset, I put her on TractGard and within a few weeks, I noticed a difference. Since being on TractGard, she has not refused a meal and seems to drink when we are away.

Seeing improvement
I started a young horse I am training on this product because he seems to produce a lot of gas. In the first month I can definitely see a reduction in the amount of gas being produced although he still has more than most of the other horses. We will continue to use TractGuard and track his situation for the next several months but I expect this product is doing what we need it to do.

Pick something else.
I sent this product out in smart packs to several ponies in training at different farms. (size- small, medium, large ponies). ALL of them began consuming HUGE quantities of water, even at drastically reduced doses. They are at different farms and had the same response, even in the cold months. As soon as this supplement was removed from their packs, they went back to normal water consumption. The most dramatic was my small 12.1h show pony, who was drinking a whole full size trough in 12 hours, that is WAY too much! Changed over to U Guard for the ones that need gastric support and have had no further issues.

Excellent product! (Be mindful of dosage)
I absolutely love this product. My horse went off her feed and wasn't even really eating her hay. I suspected she didn't feel good in her digestive system as she eats relatively large grain meals and is a hard keeper thoroughbred. It is vital that she eat up in order to maintain condition and health. I changed her feed to a type she likes and added this supplement. As a result she is now licking her bucket clean and has never looked better!
I was drawn to this product because it contains no aluminum, which was important to me because aluminum is linked to ailments such as dementia. I also needed a pelleted product that has no apple flavoring because my horse hates apples and is a very picky eater. I liked the added electrolytes and yeast that aid digestion as well as the buffering features to reduce the acid associated with feeding grain.
Be sure you are feeding the correct dosage to get results. Smartpak's maintenance dose is 1/2 scoop per grain meal or 1 scoop per day. However, the Foxden packaging states that you should begin at 1/2 scoop per grain meal and work up to 1-2 scoops as necessary. I have found that 1 whole scoop per grain meal (twice smartpak's maintenance dose) was the highly effective dose for my thoroughbred mare. I have had excellent results with this product, both increasing my horses appetite and improving her overall condition and health. Thank you Smartpak!

Love this product!
When I purchased my haflinger gelding last fall he'd just gotten done with a heavy show season and went straight to the trainer for a month of saddle training before coming to my farm. When he arrived, I noticed that he wasn't the best eater, especially with hay. His appetite, career history, and go-getter attitude made me think maybe his GI tract needed some help. After some research, I decided to try TractGard to help with King's 'nervous tummy'. Sure enough, he was feeling much better within a week of starting this product. He eats and drinks really well as long as he gets his TG everyday (I actually only feed it with dinner instead of with each meal) and it's very affordable too which is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this product for any horse but it's probably even better for those that need a little extra help due to stress.

Did Not Work
I started my horse on this product after a mild colic incident. I tried several others by smart pak but he is a very picky eater and would not eat anything that was a powder only in pellet form. He was on this product for 4 months when he had another mild colic incident. I no longer will be using this product for him.

Love this stuff!
My 11 year old Arabian stallion has been a chronic "barometric colicker" his entire life. We live in central SC, where temps can vary by 30 degrees in 24 hours, and despite rigorous management "Tummy" would have a minor gas colic every time the temp would drastically change. Two weeks ago I started him on TractGard (and made no other changes), and he's been colic-free for 2 weeks! Up until then he'd been mildly uncomfortable at least once, if not twice a week. He's drinking more water, and is overall a much happier horse.

This stuff is amazing!
My 19 year old thoroughbred has always been a hard keeper, and sustained an injury about a year ago and lost a good bit of muscle mass and some weight due to stall rest with hand walks and an hour grazing time. I had him on smart digest but that was not enough so I added tractgaurd to his smartpak and within 3 months he has gained weight and is healthier than ever. He is a VERY picky eater, but eats all of this stuff! I also have fed him rice bran pellets for the past 11 years along with his daily grain which helps keep weight on and his coast nice and shiny. I highly recommend this to anyone with a hard keeper or a horse who gets colicky.

Happy Horse
I have tried several supplements for my Paint gelding without success. Tract Guard has been great. We are on our second delivery. He is less girthy and less grumpy when working around his ouchy areas. Would recommend!

Good so far
Purchased this product as a preventative after treating a horse for ulcers. Worked our way down from omeprazole paste, to a strong daily supplement with a digestive aid, and finally maintaining him on this alone. He's doing well so it seems to be working for us.

I Love Linee LU!
Poor Linus has frequent stomach upsets -- and this stuff covers ALL of the bases. Above all, I deeply appreciate the electrolyte buffering factor. He is doing exceptionally well on this supplement!

Horse didnt like taste
My horse who is not a picky eater didn't like the taste of these. Also I found it to be not as effective as the U guard we had been on before. When I trailer my horse she gets a upset stomach and the U guard kept it in check. So I switched back. I will say I like the fact the product has salt so I don't have to add it to my feed and it is safe for HYPP horses as it has no Potassium.

a little too soon to tell
My 16 yr old Arab gelding has only been on Tractgard just under 2 months. He had bouts of colic in Jan & Feb, with an impaction diagnosed for the Feb bout. With the cold and changeable weather in Western New York, we felt he wasn't drinking enough water. Most other colic supplements addressed ulcer issues. TractGard seemed the most appropriate for the hydration issue. No colic/impaction since starting this supplement. It is economically priced. And if it continues to perform, it would be worth twice+ the price.

Change maker!
Really is helping my ulcer prone mare! We are able to take her off of at least one of her ranitidine doses and after her stall rest from surgery we hope to only use tract guard and no ranitidine!

It definitely helped!

He is finicky about eating it by itself, he is on a strictly hay diet. I mixed it with a handful of equine senior and he cleans it up. In the 3 months I have used this product, Bucky has put on weight and had no further episodes of colic. I will re-order another 3 months worth and recommend it to other horse owners as well.

Fantastic Product
This is a fantastic product that should be used year round. It encourages drinking, helps the gut absorb water, and has ingredients to soothe the stomach. I've used this product for almost 10 yrs and its the first supplement I put all my horses on. I recommend it to everyone, especially during the winter months!

My horse has only been on this supplement for a week but I would already recomend it to a friend ! My horse is a very picky eater and would only sometimes finishes his food and other supplements but since adding this he has consistantly finished all his food !! He also had some runny stool due to very good grass and hay and his stool is way less runny already!

Very glad I purchased this!
I live in WI and this summer has been a killer so far...day after day of temps in the 90s and the past few days of being well over 100. We are not used to that. I knew we were predicted for a hot and dry summer, and I added this to my horses supplement regimine (they are 23 and 10). It smells like banana, which is a flavor horses go crazy for, and I love combination of the digestive protection, antacid and electrolytes. Several fellow boarders asked me about it. My boys are drinking a lot of water to stay hydrated and no signs of colic (knock on wood) so far. Great multi purpose product and glad I tried it/

Used for years
I like this product and have fed it on and off for years. While the horses I feed it to are healthy and not in distress, they haul a lot - sometimes thousands of miles a year - and move from climate to climate, and they seem to stay healthy and not in distress on this (we do use 1/4 tube gastrogard on the road as well). It feels like inexpensive insurance. While I sometimes do switch to individual sources of electrolytes, GI protection, and prebiotics when I feel like I am really going to stress those areas, I always come back to TractGard as day to day supplement.

OTTB helpful
I purchased this product for an OTTB rescue . She came into the barn 300lbs under weight and with ulcers. In the last 6 weeks she has gained weight, and no longer has gut issues. I really like the salt added to this product , it keeps my mare drinking plenty of water, while she is eating extra hay to gain weight. I will use the product on my next rescue as well.
