Very few options for size in other brands.
Happy with them so far. I have only wore them once so far but this brand was one of the few brands that offered custom inches in width and height. Since I have short muscular calves it’s hard to find something to fit. But this allowed me to get the right height and width.

Great fit, great look.
This is my second or third pair of Tredstep half chaps. I’ve had Tredstep Original half chaps before. When one of the zipper pulls broke after many years of hard use (other than that, the chaps were probably still serviceable), I decided to upgrade to the Liberty style. I love them. They fit well and have a long, slim look on my legs, which are not long and definitely not slim!

Finally, custom fit chaps at a reasonable price!
I love that these come in a variety of sizes. My leg is short (15"), but calf is large (15"), so most chaps are either too long, or too tight. Custom ordered chaps are so expensive! These are reasonable. I also like that these don't have Velcro, since Velcro snags. These are true to size--exactly what I measured and they fit snug enough (any tighter and I wouldn't be able to zip) and are ALMOST the perfect length (stir-up is just a tad too long, but I can take that in) I can wear these for hours and they are comfortable. A cloth cleans them up and they look like new). You do sweat, and I noticed that they bled on my light-colored pants--that didn't wash off). Only a big deal if you want to wear the pants without the chaps or long boots. If you have an odd-sized leg/calf like I do, I would highly recommend these chaps.

Wonderful
I've had these half chaps for about 2 years now. They have held up wonderfully and are only just now showing signs of wearing. I ride 2 horses 5x a week so that's pretty great. My calf was 13.5 inches so I rounded up to the 14 inch calf, but I wish I would have gotten the 13 inch calf because they do stretch a little as they age and the elastic panel works very well. However, they still do fit very well. Tredstep is the only brand that makes chaps that are short enough for me and I love it! It's so difficult finding anything to fit my 15 inch calf height. Definitely buying my next pair from Tredstep. Now if Tredstep could make tall boots this short I would be in heaven.

Not durable.

Better than my last Treadstep Half Chaps
I bought these to replace the Treadstep half chaps I bought a few years ago. I was concerned these would have the same quality issues with the zippers. I'm happy to say they have improved the durability of the zippers, changed where they zip up as well as the direction the zippers work. I have used them every day for about 2 weeks and I think I'll be pleased with them. They're the best looking brand of half chaps.

Awesome Half Chaps
These are a very durable and sturdy leather. I measured and then ordered and they were a perfect fit, even with a 17" calf. There's even a little bit of extra height to allow for settling. The zipper is also very sturdy. Advice: do not try them on for the first time at night after a long day of riding! They will be impossible to zip. I put them on the next morning and walked around the house in them all day (that comfy!) and they zipped great the next time I put them on. I also use zipper pulls (little cords - avail at sporting goods stores or Amazon) that make zipping up quick and easy.

Fantastic Chaps!
I wore out my old half chaps and was looking for a good replacement. These chaps fit well (I am shorter and have an odd sized calf) and also look great. The quality of the materials are great and the suede panel on the inside allow for really good grip.

nice but not worth the money
With in 4 months of owning these chaps they had stretched a whole size bigger and had ripped at the seam on my inside calf. I love these chaps they are comfortable and look nice but for the price I paid they should have held up longer. I ride 2 times a day every day and take very well care of my equipment. My "cheap" ariat chaps lasted 2 years before I decided to upgrade to these Tredsteps and so far I have not had a great experience.

Great schooling chaps
Love the look of these chaps.I took the advice of one review and ordered a size smaller in the calf and one inch taller in the height.They were hard to zip at first,but a great fit.The suede panel on the inside gives a secure leg on the saddle.Can not say about the durability yet,but very comfortable.

Good schooling chap
I tried these chaps after I wore the Ariat Concord's for two years. I felt like they didn't hold up or last as long as the Ariat's...the stitching around the bottom came undone rather soon and the insides on the calves eventually cracked. They lasted about 9 months before I really had to retire them - granted I ride 2-5 horses 5-7 days a week. But, they are comfortable and I actually show in them XC instead of my tall boots.

Wore out after 2 months
After two months of riding in these there is holes in the leather of both inner calves and the bottom snap broke on one half chap so that the zipper will no longer stay zipped. Very comfortable and good fit but these half chaps do not stand up to use.

Good Schooling Half Chap
I took a chance and ordered these half chaps after growing tired of the zippers and snaps failing on the Ariat brand half chaps. I've used these half chaps for about three weeks. I ordered them 1in smaller in height and calf size because I measured in between the available sizes. They were snug when I first put them on but they have already stretched out quite a bit. While the height is fine, the ankles are so loose that they slouch a bit and are baggy. They are also quite gappy at the top. I think if I was to order them again, I would get them one inch taller and one inch smaller in the calf. The leather is very soft and supple and the zipper is good quality. I like that there is a snap at the top and bottom. They don't have a close enough fit or clean enough look to be acceptable for a clinic or schooling show, but they are fine for schooling. They are quite grippy in the saddle (almost too much for dressage) and very comfortable to wear.

Really nice!!
I was a bit skeptical about these but had to try them! I LOVE Treadstep because they have such a wide variety of sizes. They fit great and look far more expensive than they were. Thanks SmartPak for carrying all the Treadstep sizes! Can't speak much about the durability yet but all of my other Treadsteps have held up great.
