Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really works We live in the desert so horses eat off rubber mats to cut down on sand in feed. I give my horse this product first seven days of the month. Last week a horse at the barn, not on this product, had a sand colic. She is ok but owners will be using this in future

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple solution I've used it twice for my horse this winter, the first time when he was having impaction issues due to not drinking enough water. When I realized what was happening (very dry manure and pain on his right side by his flanks, where he had hindgut ulcers terribly which Succeed was effective in treating), I gave him table salt and offered a bucket of warm water, which he drank down, to my relief. But it wasn't enough. I was able to find Sand Clear locally and get it to him the next day. One week and his flank pain was gone and his manure was sticking together better. We skipped a month but at the 2-month mark since that first impaction (just a few weeks ago), he starting having flank pain again on the right side but no sign of ulcers (still on Succeed). I decided to add Sand Clear to the Smartpak shipment of Succeed at that time. After a week, the pain was gone again (no more objecting to being brushed or touched in that area). I can only assume that the Sand Clear made a difference in whatever was going on in his hindgut. I'll use it when I see a need, which may not be monthly. My boy has digestive issues, so I watch him closely for signs of arising problems. This is one of the products that I now trust when his problems swing opposite of what they normally are. And I had to feed this with something else, otherwise he didn't want to eat it. Alfalfa pellets worked well. When he eats the tiny Sand Clear pellets, he seems to have issues getting them stuck in his teeth and makes goofy faces as he tries to get them out with his tongue--something to be aware of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sand Clear So far, so good. My horse had colic surgery for an impaction an number of years ago. We have moved to the Low Country of South Carolina where the soil is sandy. As a precaution I am giving him this product. It was recommended by my previous barn owner in Maryland.
