One basic tweak would make this saddle 5 stars
My new young horse came to me with a very sore and inflamed back due to a very heavy ill-fitting saddle and a rider who was too big for him (he’s just a little guy, slender build). The vet put him on a 2-month no riding convalescence, and I started searching for a lighter-weight saddle than my leather dressage. I ordered the Wintec Pro Endurance on trial and it worked out so beautifully once my horse could be ridden again that I kept it. I really did not want a synthetic saddle as, I admit, I am spoiled with having top-of-the-line custom dressage saddles. That being said, this saddle is really wonderful for what it offers my horse and me. Most importantly, I was able to change the gullet to fit him and add a very thin riser at the rear panel to balance it to his conformation. The CAIR system takes care of the rest. It is very light-weight which is wonderful for his back. He has been in work now for 4 months and my vet declared no residual back soreness at all. As for myself, I have some mobility/flexibility issues and this saddle is so darn comfortable for me. The cantle is lower than my dressage saddles so it is easier for me to get my leg over. I was able to adjust the stirrup bar to accommodate my hip angle. I also was able to adjust the thigh blocks to individual angles for my slightly different leg angles. I feel very balanced and secure in this saddle. I also love the fact that all I have to do is take a damp cloth and wipe it down. I tried many different girths to find one that was the most comfortable for my horse, and the winner was — big surprise — the Wintec girth with CAIR. My friend who helps me with my horses (and does not have physical limitations) also loves this saddle. In fact, when I recently took out a couple leather dressage saddles to try, she said she was really hoping I would keep the Wintec Pro Endurance … which I did. This is not to say there isn’t a CON with this saddle. The seat is definitely not the most comfortable (ie, cushy). It would benefit from more padding. As it is, I have a gel seat saver which works but it would be nice not to have to need that additional layer. As forewarning, the videos showing how easy it is to use the Easy Change Gullet System and Easy Change Risers are deceiving. I needed to change the gullet plate from the M it comes with to XW. It was easy to figure out what to do, but the physical strength needed to install the XW plate was incredible. Instructions advise gently stretching tree before adding wider plate, which I did, but it was a long lots-of-swearing process. I ended up having to get help stretching the tree while screwing in the plate (both of us swearing). The same with adding the riser to the rear panel - videos show how easy it is — what they don’t explain is the saddles they are using have been open and closed as demos for unlimited demonstrations. The new velcro is really strong - not a problem when opening the panels from the pommel to mid-section, but when you get back to the rear panel, it is unbelievably difficult. Trying to get your fingers in the very tight space and rip open each tiny section of velcro as far back as you need to in order to install the riser pad is excruciating. I understand the advantage of strong velcro, but for the tight space available at the rear panel, they should probably switch to a milder version. All in all, I will not have to change the gullet or (maybe) the riser any time soon, so I’m not going to stress about it. Consider me a very pleased Wintec Pro Endurance convert.

Awesome! Better than expected
I was not sure what to expect and looked at this saddle for a while before doing a test ride. I have always ridden English and I am trail riding more these days on a young horse. My jumping saddle is not comfortable for trail riding and my dressage saddle didn't feel right on this horse. I tried a western saddle but I just don't like western saddles. This one is perfect. The amount of security it gives you with the knee blocks is really nice on spooky horses and going down steep hills! It still rides like an English saddle, which I wanted, but is comfy and has lots of rings to put on saddle bags or tie on a rain jacket. I really like this saddle and I think more people would really like it if they tried it. If your on the fence because it says endurance just try it. I don't ride endurance but do trail ride long rides all over the USA. Really helps you feel secure if out of shape or spooky horses! Do wish it was a little more reasonable priced like other Wintecs and it is heavier than my winter dressage, but over all it's nice and comfy on horse and human.

Surprisingly Nice!
I have been searching for a saddle to fit my broad-as-a-barn Haflinger pony and hoped this one, with all the built-in fitting adjustments might be perfect. I ordered a wide template, too, as I was sure it would be needed. Well, I was wrong and never actually got to try the saddle. After difficulty loosening screws to change the gullet plate, I realized that it might be easier to simply try the wide plate for fit before going further. For this mare, wide wasn't wide enough, but the experience deserves a review. There are SO many ways to fit this saddle! Of course, the gullet width can be altered, but there's more. The stirrup bar is adjustable. The panels can accept shims to balance, fit, or compensate for a horse's asymmetry. Even the billet straps can be adjusted. On top of that, the suede-like finish is beautiful, will be grippy and comfortable on a trail ride, and there are ample rings to use for tying on gear. These positive factors coupled with a very reasonable price and the unbeatable service from SmartPak make this saddle a great choice. I am looking forward to seeing it in the extra-wide category, but to make the next attempt easier, I'll just order the gullet bars I might need before ordering a test ride saddle. Now that I know about the quality and features, I believe that would be the simplest route to take.
