Love it!
I’ve had this a few weeks now and it’s been great. My mare is built downhill, so it can appear roomy up top, but she seems cozy. The warranty keeps me feeling comfortable as well :)

I already owned the sheet version of this and loved it so much that I jumped on the chance to buy the heavyweight while it was on sale. The fit is great; the high withered version fits my thoroughbred really well, and I feel like it breathes a little more than having a full neck cover on. My mare seems quite comfortable in this blanket, and it has kept her warm through the single-digit weather so far this winter.

Great fit & value
These blankets are great. The high neck fits my thoroughbred's withers perfectly; we haven't had any rubs! The material is super durable and has stayed pretty clean. It's absolutely worth it to pay a little more for the warranty on this already great blanket. After trying many different brands, I will now only buy Smartpak blankets. I recommend this to every horse person I talk to!

Good quality and fits my horse well
I purchased this turnout in both lightweight and medium weight about a month ago, after struggling with blanket fit issues for my Lusitano/Oldenberg mix with a high wither and more narrow chest. I started with traditional turnouts, then moved to Rhino wug, but that restricted his movement in the shoulder. These SmartPak high neck turnouts have gussets which do not restrict his movement and seem to be very durable, but time will tell. They are a perfect fit for my horse, great job SmartPak!

Why buy anything else?
These blankets fit everyone on the farm and with the 10yr guarantee why would you buy anything else?? Only issue I have had is small tears in the liner, not even worth cashing in the guarantee on.

Not a great fit for a draft cross
I really like the texture and quality of the material that was used to create this blanket. It seems hardy and weather resistant, but the fit is not at all ideal for a wide bodied draft cross. I truly wish I had known before ordering. The chest area was extremely narrow and tight fitting for my Percheron QH gelding. The material also draped very short along his sides, sadly exposing a lot of his under belly to the elements. It seems that the company took into account the length for a large bodied horse (I ordered an 87) but they neglected to factor the potential for increase in body width. There was nothing I could do to modify the fit for my gelding. I sadly had to repackage and return it immediately. I would NOT recommend this blanket for large warmbloods or draft cross horses. For an "average" or narrow bodied horse, I bet the fit would be fine.

Runs big but great otherwise
I rogibally purchased the high neck sheet in a 72” which is my horses size in other SP blankets as well as every other brand including high necks. When I got the 72” it was like a tent on him! I returned it and exchanged it for a 69” and it just fits. Any smaller and it wouldn’t work. I love smartpaks line of blankets especially the ultimates due to their 10 year warranty. I would compare them to horsewares Rhino like. The color I bought was on sale, I believe they discontinued he color, it’s gorgeous! Their blankets fit both my higher carriage half Arab/app cross and my low carriage qh wonderfully. My Arab is usually hard to fit and I’ve had great luck with both their High necks and regular cuts. The exchange was simple too.
I attached a photo of my half Arab in the sheet when I tried it on. Don’t mind the mask he has uvetitis :( and of course the mess... winter has been sooooo cold!

A great blanket for the price with nice features. Not as heavy as Rambo, but coverage is a bit better. Price is better too. Tough material.
On the hooded blankets, wish the hoods were detachable. Heavy and difficult to deal with attached hoods.

Good waterproof sheet
This is a durable, nice looking waterproof sheet. The high neck is nice when I need to leave for the day and certain horses refuse to stand under the roof when it is raining and sleeting. It goes on easily (love the quick snaps and clips) and stays in place all day. One of my horses rolls in anything she can find and has been known to tear holes in blankets. This sheet stands up to her hijinks very well and the mud brushes off. I have blankets or sheets in black, navy, and burgundy. The burgundy is my favorite!

Great quality and fit!!
I have had this blanket as a sheet for about a year now and it has held up beautifully! This cut fits my horse better than any other blanket that I have found. I have an appendix quarter horse and he is difficult to fit without getting blanket rubs. He has really high withers and he always seems to get a blanket rub on the point of each shoulder. I was afraid to try any blanket with the cut back wither because I didn’t want the pressure point on his withers to just get pushed back. This cut completely takes care of that and there have been no shoulder rubs! I now have this blanket in all three weights and I absolutely love them all! They fit wonderfully and I know if he happens to destroy one I can get it replaced within 10 years.

Love the high neck
I got this about 3 weeks ago for the chilly California nights. I love the high neck but I wish it was longer on the sides. Once I hook up the belly straps the material is pretty short allowing cold air to get up into the belly area.

Nice quality, poor fit.
This seemed like a quality blanket that would last a long time. The insulation of the heavy weight version was not quite as thick as I expected. I ordered the burgundy, and it is actually a beautiful brick red color that looked great on my bay horse. However, the fit just wasn't right. My horse has high withers and I hoped the high neck style would be right for him. However, the blanket was too tight in the shoulders, while there was a lot of extra length on the sides - it hung almost to his
knees before fastening the belly straps, and all the straps were adjusted to the shortest settings. I felt that if I went up a size to get more room in the shoulders, he would be swimming in the rest of it. Evidently this is not the best cut for my horse so I had to send it back. The return process with free return shipping was simple and hassle-free.

Wonderful Blanket
My horse has only had this on a few days, but it seems like it's going to be a great blanket. It fits his high withers/narrow chest very well, and is true to size. It's the only blanket I've ever used that doesn't slide off to one side all the time. Love!

Very good turnout with great guarantee
I purchased this turnout last spring for my Trakehner mare, aged 30, to wear on rainy days. It fit well, went on easily, but did not repel the rain well. Apparently the water repellent coating was not done properly. I contacted Smartpak, and they said to return it for replacement. I returned the sheet using the original shipping label, and Smartpak promptly replaced the sheet with no shipping charges. The replacement sheet is water repellent and I use it often. The only improvement I would like to see is to have larger clips on the front and leg straps of the sheet, which would be easier to handle while wearing gloves. I appreciate the easy return and replacement offered on these turnouts, a smart option when dealing with horses.

The best I've found!
I bought this blanket for my 30 yr. old TB mare -- and she will wear hers again this coming winter. Just recently I bought the same blanket for my TB/Connemara mare who is my current mount.(And she is like her mother - the 30 yr old TB -- loves to buck and gallop!) I love the high neck/fit and the durability/waterproof-ness of the Ultimate Turnout Blanket ! So far I really have not had to worry about the blanket moving or the horse getting wet. Wish that I had invested in the Ultimate High Neck's in the past.

fit was a "meh" but my horse was dry!
We get A LOT of rain in WA. Recently, my one horse was in another brand 1600D rain sheet and was wet through. Other horses in the herd as well. My little horse in this blanket was DRY (the blanket was heavy and wet but it didn't saturate). He's a stocky thing with a short neck and the fit isn't great: it's a bit too long (but belly surcingles fold it up well enough) and when he lifts his head he inverts the high-neck inside out. But he's happy and dry which seems a miracle so I'm giving it 4 stars. I also have my horses in a herd of seven geldings 24/7 so the 10-year guarantee is a big seller for me.
