My mare loves this!
This is the best cure for boredom when my mare is stuck in her stall. She rolls it around the floor and even up the walls to get her treats. It keeps her very entertained.

My ponies love these!!
I have 3 minis and I started with one of these and now am up to 3! They love them and it keeps them so busy. I use Cheerios for the minis and they get such a kick out of playing and rolling them around!!

Perfect for my stall bound horse
I purchased this for my gelding who is recovering from a suspensory injury (I’m trying to keep him from climbing the walls ha!). It’s worked perfectly. He picked it up right away. Smelled the treats and started rolling it and pawing at it. After a few days he got better and would roll it, and then sniff around to see if any treats fell out. He’s definitely gnawed on it and stomped on it and it’s held up great. Recommend for all stalled horses!

Great but needs to be openable for cleaning
My horse loves this and it entertains her for AGES, however it needs to have a way to open it because it's impossible to clean. It will grow moldy over time and takes ages to dry out when you do clean it.

Hours of Fun for My Horse
It has been a very rainy in Houston the past couple of years. As a result, turn out time is not a daily occurrence. I was looking for something that would help my horse pass the time in her stall. Hopefully, something that would engage her mind and encourage her to move around. I was very happy to come across this product on the SmartPak website. I read the reviews before purchasing this product, so I knew the size of the goodies put in the ball was important. Too small and the treats would pour out. Too big and the treats wouldn't come out at all. I found Manna Pro Start To Finish Apple Treats at my local feed store, and they seem to do the trick. If I had to guess, I would say each treat is about 1.5" X 0.5". Ruby happily roles her ball around her stall for hours, and the ball is empty when I get to the barn every evening. Ruby and I are very pleased.

excellent boredom breaker!
My two OTTBs LOVE this thing, I think they could play with it for hours if given the option. It rolls easily enough, but not so much that they have to chase it down. I have not had issues with treats getting stuck, in fact they come out almost too easily. I use a combination of the Standlee mini hay cube treats, Purina's nicker makers, and Horse Guard's Flix treats. It seems like the variety of shapes and sizes of treats makes it more entertaining for the horses, and they have to work slightly harder to get the treats to come out. My two mares are interested in this, but they tend to get frustrated more quickly than my OTTBs and either abandon it, or try to destroy it. So far it has held up to biting and pawing quite well. Very reasonably priced for a toy that seems like it will last a lifetime, it arrived quickly and serves its purpose. 5 stars! Thanks Smartpak!

Hard Pass on this one
I purchased this busy ball and the amazing graze from horseman's pride. Tried them both out with my horse. We both picked the amazing graze because the Ball Feeder doesn't roll as well, doesn't dispense the treats as well, you have to put very small treats inside of it because it is hard to clean out- it doesn't have a removable lid and the mouth is small. Don't put carrots or apples in it, because they can get stuck.

an absolute must for stall rest!
I bought this for my horse recovery from surgery on stall rest - I dont know how she would survive without it. She plays with it CONSTANTLY. It is hard to clean, but i'd still say its worth the money.

Horse loves it / wish it dispensed easily
My former Amish Mare had never seen a toy in her life and was immediately enthralled with this. Licked it rolled it around bit on it... I used nickermakers inside it but may switch to smaller pellets. She was tenacious but only got 3 out of 5 treats out of it in 45 minutes

Well made and stimulating for pasture turn out
I have a WB that gets bored and cribs during turn out. I tried to explore toys that would keep him focused on treats and not on chewing the fence. He is young and rough and this toy can tolerate his abuse.

Gets away
I like the idea of this, and my horses do seem to play with it. However, the ball is so small it rolls out from under the panels quickly and the horses can't reach it any more. This would probably work well in a stall with solid walls, but it may get out of a pen with higher rails.

Great, but hard to clean
My horse loves it, but you can never get all the treats out, so it gets gross after awhile. I use hay stretcher large pellets. Tried pressure washing it and that kinda worked. Would be better with a screw on/off bigger hole for cleaning.

Very engaging
I have 3 horses and they all seemed interested in it for a few minutes, then 2 of them got bored with it, but my other one still loves it. She bites on it and it has not broken. They can still scrape the ball up, but they can not grab on to it. Overall, I love it and so does my horse. It is very durable so far.

My horse loves it!
My horse is pastured by himself and recently his neighbors moved leaving him without horses next to him. I got him the Shires Ball Feeder to keep him occupied and entertained, and so far it’s doing just that! Works great with feed (we use Total Equine and the nuggets are an ideal size for the holes).

Hole needs to be bigger
Horses went for it. I put alfalfa cubes in it and broke them up to fit in but they can’t get them out. Might try grain pellets in it next.

Maybe If You Tweak It?
I ordered one over the phone, and whoever took my order assured me that the hole was big enough to fill the ball with hay cubes. That turns out not to be the case. Maybe mine are unusually large? I tried changing manufacturers, but the cubes are still too big. I have to use pellets, and they don't slow down my mare's feeding time at all. On the other hand, they don't blow away, either.

Best boredom breaker ever!
My horses are currently on a dry lot for the time being & they get so destructive cause of boredom. I decided to try one of these & they actually play with it!! I was expecting my youngest to take to it first, but my senior horse pushed him out of the way! Needless to say I had to order a new one. I put mini cubes or pellets inside the whole. Not big enough for regular size cubes. But it's durable & tough! One horse paws at it & another bites it. 10/10 would buy & reccomends again!

Challenge the mind
I am on my second set of these feeder balls. We make the hole a little bigger & Add a second one so we can use alfalfa cubes & homemade snacks. The horses look forward to them & will pass up their hay to feed off these balls.

Wonderful boredom buster
Love these treat balls for my 4 horses. They are kept busy and entertained and they look forward to when I fill them with 50/50 pellets or treats. This toy has reduced fighting between my bossy gelding and his neighbor. I am so glad I got these for my horses and they were priced better here on Smartpak then anywhere else.

Ball Feeder - Nice product but hard to clean
I got the blue because I read somewhere horses see blue better than the other colors offered. It pretty durable so far. My horse pushes it out of his paddock however and it is super hard to clean and takes forever to dry. They should have put in some small air holes instead of just the one hole where treats can exit.

A real boredom breaker!
I have this for my gelding on a dry lot. He really looks forward to getting his ball every afternoon. We put timothy pellets and it keeps him busy for about an hour. Keep your floors swept clean so they don’t pick up sand or dirt with it.

Great at easing boredom
Bought this 5 months ago. My horse lives alone so he has a jolly ball and lick it boredom buster and the ball feeder is by far his favorite toy. he plays with it all day until he gets all the treats out. I did drill a couple of small holes in the ball to help drain water out. Easiest way to clean it is to stick the hose in it and let the water overflow out of it, old treats will float right out of the top. He paws and bites at it and it’s held up very well.

Totally awesome!
I bought this for my lease horse for while he's in a small paddock. He loves it! The hole is small enough that regular treats don't just fall out, but big enough that they will eventually come out. It's about an inch in diameter. The flat sides make him need to do actual work for a reward! It's pretty durable, but he likes to try to chew it.

Wonderful way to feed pellets & slow down eating
I bought this for my half pony after using a Prevens feeder for the last 9 months. My horse aspirated his pellets this summer - gobbling them so fast they got stuck in his throat. I got this ball because others at my barn are using it to feed pellets in their pipe corrals and I like seeing the horses move around while eating. This does both slow down their eating & make them move about while eating - like grazing. For Socal horses who don’t get grass to graze this is a nice way to feed. And my horse takes much longer to eat his pellets than with the Prevens feeder. He only gets a few pellets at a time. Love this feeder!!
