Gorgeous, but durable?
Love the leather, snap at the top of leg, (does not get in the way of spurs), fit (wear 'em for a couple days to stretch), snap and zipper are good. But looks like Ariat is moving away from an extra layer of material on inside of calf, so will these chaps last? I'll be saving these for lessons and looking for an ugly, durable, trail ride pair.

Beautiful Half Chaps
So far I am completely in love with these half chaps! They definitely run small I ordered one size up in calf width but stayed my same size in height. I’m very pleased with the classy style, good enough quality leather and zipper. I also ordered the Close Contact style to compare but definitely like the more classic look of the Kendron, they are a little closer to looking like a real field boot.

Fit is waaaayyy off....
Something went wrong in production of these! I measured and used the sizing chart here and these should have fit like a glove. I ordered a Large Tall, and my calf is 15" (the size range for Large is 15.5 - 16.5"). I even sized up a little bit, because other reviewers said these fit small. Well as you can see in the pic, the zipper closure was 2" too small. That's a pretty big discrepancy, Ariat! Had to return, sadly, since there are no Tall X-Large options. Otherwise they seem like a really pretty and nicely made half chap.

Very good quality
I am really enjoying these half chaps over many others that were never quite tall enough. I did have to zip them up first and slide my leg into them because there was no way I could zip them up the first time. I wore them around for a couple days and it was no problem to zip them as I normally would. They look great with my brown Ariat paddock boots. A nice, "tall boot" look and very comfortable!

Beautiful but runs small
This runs short and small. I have a 13.25" calf, so between the XS (13") and the S (14") I decided to go down since it has the stretch panel. But the chap sides were an inch or inch and a half way from touching - I couldn't even get the zipper started to try. Now I'm sizing up. Also my leg measures 17" so I was worried the mid size would be too tall (it's 18" in XS) but it wasn't at all, could even have been a touch taller. Looking forward to seeing if the small mid will work since they're an inch bigger and and half inch taller. Sure wish they matched their own size chart!

Runs Small, Ziper Doesn't Feel Like It'll Hold Up
Just got this, quality doesn't seem like what I am used to getting when buying Ariat products. Had trouble unzipping and zipping the zipper even just holding it outside of it's packaging. I got the LT size, which had the same measurements that I had taken of myself. I couldn't zip past my calf even with wearing the thinnest breeches and socks I own. Usually it should be tighter/taller as it'll loosen as it breaks in but considering I can't even zip it half way, I think it's truly that it run small versus just leather than hasn't broken in.

I’d been trying to replace my old Ariat half chaps that they no longer make. Wasn’t too optimistic until I opened the bag. These are gorgeous soft leather and match my boots perfectly. Very comfortable to ride in and feel like they’ll last for years. Love them!

Ended up returning
These half chaps were so tight around the ankles that we couldn’t zip them around my daughter’s paddock boots without a real adult full force struggle. She has women’s size 11/12 feet but narrow calves. My daughter couldn’t walk in them because they were too tight around the ankles. We ended up returning them and opting for a more stretchy pair of leather half chaps.

Very elegant
These half chaps look very elegant with my Ariat paddock boots, even though my boots are not the Kendron model. Luckily I read the other reviews and ordered the next size up in width. They fit perfectly with no break in period. Good support while riding.

Very nice but runs very small!
I bought these half chaps a few weeks ago and they're very nice. No break in time and they do look very classy with the Ariat Kendron paddock boots, almost like tall boots. The calf panel is thin so I wonder how long they'll actually hold up to daily use. Like all the other reviews have said, these do run really small and tall; the calf runs ~2" smaller and height is ~1" taller than the size chart says.

Great features
I was a little wary about the velcro, but it is fantastic. They fit great and don't need any brake in time. They give you good flexibility and feel of the horse. I have only worn them for a few weeks, but pretty impressed thus far.

Very nice half chaps
These are very nice half chaps. They go quite nicely with the Kendron paddock boots. They are a little tight but I suspect will loosen with use. My only complaint is that the size chart is wrong. Otherwise quite happy with them.

Beautiful half chaps
I ordered these in the mahogany color and the leather is really very smooth and supple. The zippers are heavy duty and should hold up over time. When you get the matching paddock boots you really can’t tell they are half chaps.
My only issue is the sizing chart for this product is incorrect. The size runs at least one size smaller. I ended up sending two pairs back until I got the correct size. Smart Pak is great with returns.

Love these chaps!
These chaps have a great feel, a great look, and a great fit. I love that they zip from bottom to top unlike my Classic Chaps which zipped from top to bottom and would unzip while I rode. The zipper on the very back was difficult the first couple of times, but it’s easier now that the elastic gusset has stretched out a little. I did have to exchange to go up a size which Smartpak did quickly and easily.

Size chart not accurate
Ordered these half chaps in my regular ariat half chap size - ST. When I received these I laid them next to my current pair of Close Contact chaps and they were about an inch and a half more narrow in the calf, and an inch and a half taller than my current chaps. The Kendron's were so small and so tall I had to return. I am re-ordering up a calf size and down a height and hopefully they will work. Beautiful chaps though! Sizing is just very different from other Ariat half chaps.

Elegant & Serviceable
....these beautiful half chaps are very different than other similar products in today’s equestrian market! The lush, smooth leather legs coupled with Spanish tops and easy to use zippers and snaps are elegant but sturdy and serviceable at the same time. If you pair these chaps with the Kendron Paddock boots, you’ll easily recreate the look of tall boots fit for the show ring and for schooling too!
