Terrible fit
I was looking for an insulated boot for use in cold temps and wet weather. A person needs to be able to zip the boot closed before wearing the boot.
I could not zip this boot up over my calf. Surat should provide a customer service notice with the maximum calf width this boot can accommodate. It would have saved me time and money to know this boot would never fit my calf.

I like these boots!
These are the first riding boots I have bought online, without trying on first. Pleased to find them to be all the I had hoped: easy to get Into and out of, comfortable to wear both for walking and for riding, and good looking. They are warm but not too warm and provide room enough for heavy socks if necessary. Very happy with these boots.

Love
I bought these boots 3 years ago! They are still in good condition and I still wear them! I live in nother WI so our Temps are quite cold and wet for a good chunk of the year. My feet rarely get cold in these, they are super comfy for all day use. I only wish I would have bought half a size larger as they get tight in our extreme lows when i need 2 pairs of socks, and long John's in them.

Keep your feet warm
Have been riding in the Extreme's thru two harsh cold New Hampshire winters and they keep my feet warm and my leg on the flap. Loved them so much! Several riders at my barn have purchased them because of my recommendation.

waterproof
i have now worn these boots 3 years ...and i am in the NE so that means a good 6-8 months a year. they are warm in the winter but not too hot in the MUDDY spring.. i like them because i can go from chores to riding w/ out swapping boots. they are comfortable and have great support but with good flex in heel. fits over a breech or straight jean or can pull a boot leg jean over.. i never write a review.. i did these boots and plan on buying a back up pair for the day these cross the rainbow bridge. still going strong... fully waterproof and i am not one to do much other than brush them off . best. boots. ever.

LOVE these boots
I usually do not leave reviews. Let's face it, when we own horses, the last thing we have time for is leaving reviews. However.....I loved these boots, literally, right out of the box. 10 degree weather, I have had these boots for about a month, and have worn them almost every day. They are warm, they fit great. I have seen some of the other reviews stating that the calves are tight. I did not find that to be a problem. I am 5'6, and the height is great. They have not slouched, nor do I think they will. Sizing seems accurate.

The winter boot I’ve been looking for!
I’ve been looking at these boots for a long time now. The sale price plus USEF discount finally made me pull the trigger and I am so glad I did!
Every review comments on how the calf is really narrow and too tight and I’m a runner so I have beefy calves but on first looks before I put them on I thought they be too big! But the fit is perfect. Tight enough to feel secure to ride but not restricting much needed blood flow.
The boot sole is pretty thick and dense; it’s a winter boot so it’s gong to be heavier. I’m curious to see how that breaks in; I haven’t ridden in them yet but I think I should be able to feel the stirrups just fine.
They are a little short; I’d love another inch or even a half inch at the top but not a deal breaker.
The ankles are quite generous and there is no pinching when your heel is pushed down; no break in at all in the ankle needed.
These are warm! I’m worried my feet may get sweaty on warmer days. I’m hoping not to need as many toe warmers.
I wear my shoes at less a half size bigger almost up to a full size; something I learned from running; to avoid blisters and sores and rubs. My go to size in Ariat is a 9.5 and these are perfect.
As always, Ariat makes beautiful tough workman shoes and these embody those traits perfectly. I almost feel sad about all the mud they will encounter.
I’m a professional; on my feet at least 16 hours a day; riding up to 10 horses and teaching lessons. I’m tough on all my gear especially boots so I can’t wait to see how these hold up.

Very warm and comfortable
I received these as a Christmas gift. They are super warm. Very comfortable to ride in. They are short in comparison to riding in tall boots. I was more concerned with warmth and comfort. I would highly recommend these if you want a warm, comfortable and durable boot to wear in the winter.

Great for all-around
I bought these for riding the winter of 2019. I found them to be too short to ride in and actually considered consigning them but am so glad I did not! I have used them as my go-to in cold weather for all sorts of purposes and absolutely love them. My daughter has borrowed and loved them as well, so I am getting her a pair for Christmas this year (and getting myself a pair of Bromonts to ride in because she loves hers)!

Love these boots!
I needed waterproof, insulated boots. I have a very high arch so need a tall boot with a zipper. These are wonderful! I love them in the barn and when I am riding. I highly suggest them.
I do wish that the boots were a bit taller. I normally wear a small-tall.

Calf is too tight to wear comfortably
Bought these on half-off sale and now I understand why. As I have been riding more my calves have grown and the boot it too tight to wear. I will follow another posters idea and sell them to a tinier legged rider.

Sheer Perfection
I received these for Christmas 2018 and wore them yesterday for the first time. My feet and legs were perfectly warm. The fit is nice and tight and I have a bigger calf than most. Riding in them was perfect too. I rarely write reviews but am so happy I felt the need to share!!

Great for skinny legs!
I got these for Christmas first year they were available and are the only boot I wear in cold snowy, wet weather. Easy to zip up wearing insulated winter tights. Feet and legs warm and dry with 17 inches of snow! Most boots are too loose at top for me and snow comes pouring in.

Extremely warm and durable
Ive had a pair of these boots for over 2 years now and love them. I wear them starting in the fall all the way through mud season in the spring. Rode in them all winter last year and never had wet or cold feet. I live in midstate NH where it gets pretty chilly and we get a foot of snow every storm. During the cold spell we had for 2 weeks last year of single digits down to -15 durinf the day i wore these every day feed horses and doing chores. With 2 pairs of socks I never had cold feet. Extremely comfortable to ride in. I am 5'9 and the only downside I can say is they are a little short on my calf but that is just preference from riding tall balls all summer as well. Definitely investing in a second pair this year at Equine Affaire.

Beautiful, well constructed boots but small calf
I really like these boots but cannot zip them all the way up and don't think I have huge calves (I wear a size 10 jeans and am pretty proportionate). PLEASE make them in a wider calf! I can't wear the Bromont field boots fox hunting and these would be ideal.

Awesome boots for winter riding!
I am very happy with the fit and function of these boots. In contrast to other winter type boots they are more elegant, and I feel I ride better with these Ariats compared to big and bulky winter boots by other manufacturers. These are keeping my feet warm in temps in the 20's when paired with a thick pair of wool socks. I bought my normal shoe size-9. I wear them with polar fleece long johns. They are not overly snug in the calf. I am 5 foot 8 and 125 pounds. I do wish they came in a TALL as it would be nice to have them 2 inches taller.

Great but calf either need to be wider or taller
I bought these for snowy wet Chicago winters. They are great, but it's always hard to latch the top button and zip the zipper all the way up. I think they need to have a taller shaft, because lower on my leg there is an excess of room. If they added maybe an inch these would be perfect. When I was riding I would always have to order talls so this makes sense.

I don't know if it's just me or not but this boot seems very short, I looked on the box and there wasn't a "short" or "tall" option. Otherwise very nice looking boot and fairly warm.

This is a great boot with some BIG exceptions
Ariat needs to make this in a wide calf. It is too tight under the knee, not only for me , but for several friends who tried it on. I would buy another pair in a minute if they came in wide calf. I sold my pair to a skinny legged friend. I also don't like the hook on the top of the boot. Either velcro or a buckle would be more comfortable. Workmanship was excellent. Really sad I can't wear these as I need them and would use them daily.

Calf needs to be wider
I'm trying to replace my first pair that have served me well for many years of winter riding in New Hampshire, The calf needs to be wider. I tried my normal size and couldn't zip the boot all the way up. This is very disappointing since my old pair kept my feet very warm all winter. They were my favorite winter boot for anytime I was out in the snow and cold, not just riding. Please make these in a wider calf width like you do in your regular riding boots. It's just too cold to ride in non-insulated boots.

I tried these on and loved them - just what I was looking for but they didn't go over my calfs. PLEASE make these in a WIDE CALF size. With all the chores we girls do, our calves get bigger, so come on make them in a Wide Calf size. I've seen others ask you for the same thing, so it can't be just me! KC

Please make these in a wide width!
I tried these gorgeous boots on at the tack store today. I would have bought them instantly, but could only zip them up halfway because of my wide calf. I ride horses and do chores so my calves are muscular. Please make these in wide widths. 10 and 11 wide especially. The footbed and ankle fit great, but there's no stretch so I couldn't get them zipped. They were only too narrow in the mid to upper calf area. So bummed because these are high quality boots. Love the suede on the inside for riding.

Not so good
I bought these to replace the same ones I had for 4 winters. Of course "improvements" had been made.
The insole squeezed my feet so hard I had to remove them and use a half sole (otherwise wool socks would not fit in the boot.
The clever little buckles on the outside dig in to your knee when you cross your legs.
And my spur straps would not fit on these either.

So comfortable!
Just bought these after trying lots of winter boots - they are snugly and warm but fit like a charm with good heel and arch support which I wasnt even counting on. Sized perfectly for me. I do a lot outside in the winter and these are perfect. Also, they are beautiful!
