    U-Gard is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 242.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! My mare is uptight and very girthy so my trainer suggest an ulcer supplement. I got the pellets and am almost done with my first months supply. Surprisingly I am noticing subtle differences; more shine in her coat and less ridged when I ride her and her little forelock is growing out more than usual. I am impressed and am purchasing the powder form this time (I got the pellets but they were more expensive and didn't last as long for the price).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I am happy with the results I have gotten from putting my horse on this supplement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent product. I like the ingredients in this supplement. And my horses did eat it. My only issue is it's so messy and hard to mix - not the best powdered supplement I've used. I tried both water and oil, but either way it's messy and stuck more to the bucket than the grain. So I'm switching to the pelleted form of the same product, as I do think it's a quality supplement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps anxious ulcer-ey horses Put my gelding on this about a year ago and within the first few months he stopped cribbing and there was a definite change in his demeanour. Smartpaks make it so much easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy! My horse ate it in his feed with no problem! Put weight on his top line and filled out in the rib area. LOVE this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helped with crabbiness I bought it originally to try to stop my bad cribber. I haven't really noticed a difference in his cribbing. But he does normally get crabbier as the cooler weather moves in and so far has been quite pleasant. I do believe it has helped him be less crabby and so I am happy I put him on it just in time for fall and winter!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decreased Diarrhea! I tried the Smart Gut ultra and had no luck for my 2 sensitive stomach horses. I switched to the less expensive U-Gard and my boys are feeling much better!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKED FOR DREAMER! My farrier worked with a veterinarian and believed my horse was "girthy" due to stomach ulcers. She also touched a pressure point that my horse responded to that would be another indicator. After taking U-Gard she has shown improvement for certain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bought this to ease ulcer pain Im still not sure if its helping or not, but my gelding loves the taste of this powder mixed with his pellets!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good priduct Good product. Does the job. Flavoring a little strong and artificial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! My hot barrel horse suffers from ulcers, and after using this product she has gained weight, calmed down, and is overall more happy than she has ever been. I would highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+ My dressage mare has always struggles with weight and ulcers. After treating her ulcers with Succeed, we continued with U-gard during the hard keeping show season and summers, where she tends to get an ouchy stomach. After some time off over the winter, I restarted her on U-gard and immediately noticed an improvement in her appetite, attitude, and overall gastric health. It's definitely my go to supplement for her sensitive, easily stressed out stomach. Helps keep her preforming at her best during show seasons and intense training. My only negative is the powder is very messy and sometimes difficult to mix unless with soaked beets or something else to stick to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Maybe it needs more time... I tried this on a bit of a whim because I suspect my TB may have some GI issues. He's getting scoped in June, but I figured it wouldn't get to try UGard for a month. It was within my price point, and the reciews were ok. I got the loading dose and was giving it twice daily, as suggested, but really didn't notice much of a change in his girthiness or irritability. I decided to switch off after a month and try a two week sample of Redmond GoldSupreme, which is touted to have similar results. After a week he was not grunting when I was brushing his belly. I'm not 100% sure whether it was coincidental or not. Maybe I'll give UGard another longer trial in the future, but one month didn't cut it for me. Also, it is very powdery! A lot stuck to the feed bin and was left behind....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! My horse feels WONDERFUL after just a short time on this!
    Date published: 2016-05-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for the price My horse refused to touch his food with the powder in it (as expected), so now I mix it with warm water, put it in a big ol' syringe and give it to him like wormer paste. Problem solved. He reacted to all ulcer points, so I give him U-Guard before I work him. I can't be sure it makes a difference, but it gives me peace of mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great in a month my horses attitude problem has disappeared completely! Only thing that's AWFUL is the mess. I did switch to pellets now. just this week not sure if there effectiveness it the same. I honestly would recommend sticking out the powder for the first month or too. I think it may absorb easier, than switch for maintenance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Picky mare would not eat I am sure this is a great product, so sure I will give the pelleted form a try soon. However my mare would NOT touch the powder with a 10 foot pole. Even after I mixed it with several things, she simply would not touch her meal with this stuff in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Works as expected! My 12 year old Haflinger mare was showing signs of chronic stomach discomfort. U Guard powder works immediately to calm the stomach. I use it every morning as a preventative and again in the evening if she has had a stressful day. The powder is easy to use. I add to her grain and mix with a bit of water. She likes the taste and has never had an issue eating it. I feel better knowing U Guard is making a difference to make my horse feel better. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy horses I have been using the U guard for two of my "sensitive" horses. The changes in one of them is amazing attitude wise. He has totally flipped from a miserable grump who was pin eared all the time to a happy loving horse. The other one has be able handle stress and work loads that would have been impossible for him before using U guard. He is settled and calm in new situations and it's all because his tummy doesn't hurt any more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit messy but is being eaten Other reviewers weren't kidding when they said this product can be messy and powdery but my horse eats it and it is manageable. I prepare it myself in a small bin with a flax supplement and it is top-dressed on his feed. The bin needs frequent cleaning but his feed tub is licked clean. It has a pleasant Kool-Aid like smell. I am using it as a precautionary measure and so far, so good. I'm giving it a "good" as opposed to "excellent" due to no fault of the product. I just can't personally speak to it's effectiveness and I've only been using it a little over a month.
    Date published: 2015-09-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I started my young mare on this after her trip across the country (GA to CA) as a precautionary measure. She was skinny and stressed when she arrived and I do believe having her on this helped her gain weight back faster by either preventing or stopping ulcers. I kept her on it for 2mo and have switched over to SmartDigest for continued gastric health and support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from U-Gard good choice for this senior horse My senior Western Dressage partner, Finest Five, was acting a little "cinchy" last month and we were concerned her arthritis meds were causing some irritation to her stomach. She'd never acted that way before. U-Gard seemed a good choice for the money. Within two weeks of starting the supplement she was back to being her happy self.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from He is still eating it Charmer, 32 years old, needed a bit of help. U gard seems to be helping him feel good enough to continue eating. It smells like erasers and I mix it with his senior kibbles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mix with wet feed! I switched from the pellets to the powder because of the cost reduction. My gelding (who isn't usually very picky) gave it a snort the first time, but has not had any issues eating it. Warning - it is VERY powdery. I soak alfalfa pellets first and gently, oh-so-gently, open the smartwell into the bucket and mix it it. It goes everywhere if you don't mix it with something to knock the powder down!
