Replaces key minerals lost in sweat
Dehydration in horses has serious consequences. In order to keep your horse properly hydrated and performing his best, it is essential to supplement his diet with salt. Neither hay, pasture, nor fortified grain contain enough salt (sodium chloride) to meet your horse’s needs, and not all horses can get their requirements from a salt block alone. Feeding a well-balanced electrolyte supplement like SmartLytes can supply the sodium chloride your horse needs, in addition to the other electrolyte minerals that are lost in sweat - potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Supplying these electrolytes will also encourage your horse to drink more water, rebalancing his fluids and helping to ensure proper digestion of feeds.

The BEST electrolyte in the market!
After trying multiple electrolytes that my horse would not touch, he loved this one! I like it because it is sugar free and truly has an effect. My horse is known to sweat a lot even standing still in hotter weather. The water intake has been noticeably increased and he has a healthier coat due to hydration! Thank you SmartPak for making such a wonderful product at a reasonable price! This supplement is highly recommended!

my horse won't eat it
My horse will not eat this. Which is weird cause he eats everything. So I don't know if it works or not. He eats all his other smartpaks just fine.

Only 4* because...
Smartpak was incredible in their customer service. My mare didn't like this at all. She would eat all around it and leave any grain that was touching the powder. I let them know and they completely refunded me! I was quite shocked but a very satisfied customer! Thank you Smartpak for being so awesome!

Makes my horse drink!!
I bought this after my horse had a "minor" colic that entailed him spending four nights at the vet's hospital. He had somehow gotten dehydrated and his system stopped working properly. We added electrolytes to his supplement pack to ensure he drinks enough water, and now we are all thrilled by how much he drinks!! Yay for Smartpaks!

Great for heavy work!
I used to use some other electrolyte that i would have to buy in buckets by my vet. I found this that was cheaper and had a coupon code so i thought, why not! kept all my horses drinking! so before and after i go to a show i give them each 1/4 to 1 scoop, depending on the heat and how hard they're working. If im ever worried about colic or working them hard, i just add to grain (sometimes add water to make it stick) then I know they're drinking. I always keep a small bucket around!

Won't eat it!
My picky eater mare won't eat this at all, she cleans her bucket completely except for the tiny white powder despite mixing it in...have tried for a month! :(

Sensitive summer time
My horse is sensitive in the hot summer months. I almost count on him having a bout of colic in the summer.... well between this product keeping me hydrated, smartdigest and regular light exercise (no big jumping or x country just regular arena work and small jumps) he has been fine so far this year with temps well above his comfort level.

My horse is feeling better this summer!
My horse Nashville seems to sweat more in the summer months compared to my other horses. He was also licking the mineral block daily if not more and gulping down water like it was going to go away. Then someone told me he needed electrolytes. Ordered Smartlytes from smartpak, and in just "one" week, Nashville didn't seem to need the salt as much and didn't seem as tired after a hot day. His energy level improved. Within 3 weeks, Nashville seemed to be drinking normal amounts of water, not licking the mineral salt block, and feeling a lot better. I hadn't realized that the need for electrolytes to maintain energy levels in the summer for horses. But now I know, and Nashville is keeping up with the rest of the herd on trails and enduring the heat much better then ever before! I love this product and would recommend this to anyone for those hot summer months, for any horses that are rode often or seem fatigued in the summer months. Huge difference, in my horse, for sure!

Ick!
I bought this for our horses because we were going to be traveling a lot during summer months. I was so excited to get my SmartPaks before we left on our trip, but, there was a little problem.
My horses wouldn't even touch it (even my "eat it all" horse took just a couple licks)!! I tried everything to get them to eat the SmartLytes + their regular SmartPaks to no avail. :( Once I stopped giving them the SL, they immediately started eating their supplements again. I love SmartPak, but would not recommend this as a way to get Electrolytes into your horses. :(

Horse won't eat it
Not really sure who was in charge of the flavor of this stuff but my filly who loves food period wouldn't touch it. We tried giving it to another horse who will eat anything (including cough free which if you have used know just how nasty that stuff smells) he wouldn't touch it either. We tried the pellets again to the same result. We are going back to our other product.

Great product for working horses in hot summers
I've been giving my 28-yr old Morgan Smartlytes ever since he had a mild colic episode two summers ago in 115-degree heat. He seems to handle the ghastly heat much better since he's been getting Smartlytes, and adapts sooner to really hot days, too.
