Cavallo Simple Boots are multi-purpose hoof boots that are excellent for all-terrain hoof protection for the barefoot horse. Allows natural expansion of the hoof wall as well as increased blood circulation. Absorbs shock so your horse's legs don't need to! Also provides comfort for chronic pain, hoof sensitivity and helps with rehabilitation from injuries, abscesses, navicular disease, laminitis/founder, punctures, sole bruising and contracted heels. Adds protection during trailering and breeding and works great as a "spare tire" when a shoe is lost. Lightweight, simple to put on and remove, and stays securely on the hoof. Shaped for the natural hoof (needs no inserts or shims).

These are a LIFESAVER
These boots are literally a lifesaver for me and my gelding. We’ve been battling a mystery front end lameness that we’re thinking is navicular for years, 6 to be exact. Even if not navicular, definitely caudal pain.
We’ve tried a lot - bar shoes, pads, wedges, Osphos, steroid injections, etc.
Pads and Osphos do a lot, but I will say that these boots have made the MOST difference in him. I bought these because I was paying $200 every 6 weeks for front shoes with pads and I just couldn’t afford it anymore. I figured I’d buy these, and if they work, that’s $180 once instead of every 6 weeks.
My horse is SO comfortable and SOUND in these!!
If you’re questioning if they’re worth it, try them!!! I shed tears when I lunge now because my big guy is finally comfortable enough consistently to start working again!!

Not suitable for agressive trails
I purchased these boots to replace my worn out Old Macs based on good reviews. They were easy to put on but did not perform well on trails. We do back country trail riding thru mud, water, sand, and more. The first time we went thru a swampy section of trail I lost a boot. Needless to say, didn't find it as the swamp monster sucked it into the mud! Expensive lesson.

These boots are the only ones I found that will stay on my horse in light turnout or longer turnout. They did bruise his heel bulbs so I bought the socks that cavellos sells. Also the trek boots have more padding at the heel and are a little more flexible for horses going into turnout. My party animal keeps them on. He needed them after an unfortunate farrier issue and trying to get his hoof to grow out. U can even use them over a shoe.

Rugged lightweight trail boot for a barefoot horse
My first pair of these boots finally wore out after several years. I use them for trail riding in rocky terrain and also for support of a tender footed horse after a bruise or abscess.

These boots are amazing
These boots are very sturdy and extremely well made. I have an OTTB with a thin wall on one hoof and cannot hold a shoe to save his life. When that shoe starts to come loose, on goes the boot ... and on it stays! These boots do not slip off like other boots do! Our horses are turned out 18 hours a day, through nearly all sorts of weather and field conditions, and this boot has lasted through downpours hours long, overnight in puddles, inches and inches of mud, large rocks, gravel, even snow. They are roomy enough too that they can hold some cotton gauze, poultice, vetwrap, and ductape during an abscess, so my horses can go outside while their abscesses heal! Another girl at the farm has the same issues with her horse's one foot, so she uses one boot and I use the other, with the same results! Both boots look beat up, but after a wash in warm water, a good dry, and a nice soak in Leather New, they really are in great condition. I cannot say enough good things about these boots.

So far pretty good
I have ridden 4 times with these boots and they are pretty good. I have even cantered a few times. They are well made. Do makes some noise while riding. Stay on well. Great for trail riding and tender footed horses. Price could be better, Smartpak had them a bit cheaper than others but still a bit much for me. I would buy again if needed.

Great all-purpose boot!
Love this boot! Did a lot of research and this one lives up to its name! So simple and great quality. Good for turn out and good for riding. My boy doesn’t seem to even notice he’s wearing them. Sizing chart is accurate to fit.

Love these boots!
Bought these to transition my horse from shoes to barefoot. I was nervous about using these because I had a hard time getting them on when I first got them in and wasn’t sure that they were the proper size. Definitely recommend getting your farrier to help measure if possible. Otherwise they are great. Takes some time to break them in but so far so good.

Great boot
My horse had abscess and needed to protect foot. He is barefoot on hind so put them on both back feet. They fit well and are easy to put on. He has worn them for week and no problems. They stay on well even when he is running around.

Best boot
I have used other brands. I trail ride and we do go thru mud and rocks and climb on must trails. I have had to get off and pull boots out of mud duct tape them because the blew apart. I have only done about 50 miles bit I have not lost a boot yet. She seems to love them too.

Love these boots
My horse went through a difficult time with his feet and these boots saved him. He ripped off a shoe and took his hoof wall with it. Without being able to put shoes back on he went lame barefoot. These boots allowed him to keep active and move around comfortably. After a few days in them I did wrap his heels in cotton and vet wrap to prevent rubbing.

A miracle
27-1/2 yr old Chestnut TB Mare...mine since she slid out...we have lived the good life...we are BOTH paying somewhat for it...arthritis...lameness in both front evident recently, x-rays showed more so in right front...also transitioning to no shoes and pads (after a lifetime) in front...transitioning went well, having trimmed q3wks...but trouble with hard surface/rocks (flat-footed sensitive TB)...ordered these boots and the gel pad inserts...put them on and she walked out of the barn instantly happy! Vet and farrier Happy...I'm HAPPY...MOST IMPORTANTLY, SHE'S HAPPY...we can now start "back to work"...e.g. grassy acres out back...gradually...the gals at SmartPak have spent a lot of time with me on the phone to educate me about boots and arrived at the perfect solution...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. While the boot was intended to help with barefoot in front transition (no shoes on back for some time now), it has also helped with concussion effect on the arthritis...when I opened the gel packs, they are thin, seem hard...I'm thinking "real gel"...however when you take the boots off, the hoof wall impression is in the thin gel and again, seems to take care of concussion (like shoe pads did) and is forgiving of her flat feet soles...the size 4 (her feet measured 5" wide and 5-1/2" long) are perfect...they do not rub...although I do have a tip if they do...when you order synthetic halter fleece, I don't use the side cheek pieces and tried one in the back of the boot just in case I get a rub and the velcro sticks to the inside and you can then trim off the excess that drapes over the back of the boot...this is a long reply, but to all of us, even the smallest bit of info is sometimes very helpful...happy trails to all!

Good protection but some fitting problems
I bought these boots for my warmblood who is barefoot because of some soundness and infection issues. The boots seeemed to fit fine in the beginning (no problems getting them on) but after a few weeks the boot would rotate on my horse's foot to the point where my horse would act super sore until I fixed it. This would happen every few minutes while I was riding (walking). Also started to notice my horse was getting rubs on his heels from the boot. My horse seemed very comfortable and sound in them at first but once the foot started growing more, the boot no longer fit.

Wow!
I bought these boots for my Morgan mare who foundered seriously a year and a half ago. Prior to her devastating event she went barefoot and had great feet After foundering, she had serious internal damage that may never be completely rectified, but she has been steadily improving. It was time to really start really exercising her and despite having a son who is a farrier, I was loath to compromise her new feet with nail on shoes. I tried these boots and have lunged her several times in them. Are they a miracle, no, but they exceeded my expectations. She comfortably walks, trots, and canters in them and looks pretty darn good. They keep the sole of her feet off the ground just enough to give her the relief she needs. I also bought the Cavallo fetlock/pastern wraps (on another site) and will likely invest in the gel pad inserts. I measured and held my breath ordering, she measured 5" in width and length and the size 3 fit her pretty well three weeks into her trim cycle. They may be a tad big right after trimming, but that's ok. They seemed too simple to put on to actually work, but they do!

Did not work for my horse, SmatPak was great
The size 4 was too small, the size 5 too big. Just didn't fit my horses round shaped hooves. Smart Pak was very easy to work with on the return shipping. Definitely would purchase from them again.

Bad fit through the heel bulbs
Extremely easy to put on/off and the hoof portion fit well but the single shaped leather piece over the heel bulbs was a bad tight fit and exceedingly uncomfortable to my half
Arabian mare.
I am not sure how well it would stay on a very active horse in turn out or for aggressive
riding.
Measurements other than hoof alone need to be considered for this product.

Boot of other purpose!!
At our barn, we have found that this boot stays on sooo well when we are treating a hoof abscess or other hoof injury. Wrap fits inside and medicines are easier to keep on the bottom of the hoof with a pad then wraps...then the boot! The horse is less bothered by this boot and can Raven be put out to pasture.

Perfect for Tracking Out !!!!
I purchased these boots a few weeks ago with a little hesitation. Having a 19 year old quarter horse who never wore shoes let alone boots I wasn't sure what to expect. I bought since his feet seem to be more sensitive as he aged. He loved them. He moved forward and I could see that he had more spunk in his stride. I highly recommend buying the boots rather then paying for horse shoes.

Excellent Boots, Very durable!
I bought these boots for my gelding to wear through the fall and winter while he took a rest from having shoes on. Since he needed support 24/7 he wore them for long periods of time, with a few days off in between. They survived rough turnout, including mud when it rained and two winters with heavy ice and snow! I had the same pair for two years and even as rough as they look, I can still use them in an emergency (I have the new Trek model now). We can walk, trot, canter and I've even jumped him up to 2'6 in them without any problems at all. They are a great boot.

Cavallo Boots
I just bought these boots and only used once. They are easy to get on. They did not fit as flush around the top (coronet band) area as I thought, but I went on a 1 1/2 hr. trail ride and they stayed on fine. I bought them to use on the horses I don't keep shod, and I only use them on the front. They worked perfectly. We have hard packed rocky ground, and they protected the hoof as expected.

Good boot
I bought these boots for my gelding who became lame and he has been able to walk normal while his foot heals. I do recommend that one cut the straps to the required length and use the "keepers" that come with them since if the velcro gets wet, the straps have a tendency to come undone. I wish SmartPak had the size 0 since my mare needed this size and I had to order the size 0 from Cavallo

Love so much!
These boots have made a world of difference for my old guy. He has thin soles, and the hard ground has caused accesses and continuing foot pain. So much more comfortable, and walks, trots and even canters (at 29) with no pain.

Great quality!

Great Boots
I do a lot of riding on the pavement, so I wanted something to help protect from road concussion. These are working great for my horse, and she seems to like them. They run big though, so if you are measuring and have any doubt about size, go DOWN.
