Love this halter!
Great quality leather & hardware As others have said if you have a particularly thin skinned horse the nylon might be a tad stiff for 24/7 use I however purchased it for safety for trailing & highlining while camping so suitable for my use & is hard to find a breakaway halter with a fixed leadrope ring & rolled throatlatch which this one does have. A note about sizing... my mare is a 14.3hh mustang that wears a horse size bridle. I ordered cob size & it fits her perfectly on the 2nd hole down on each side of the crown although I do prefer my halter fit to be higher up on the nose then many seem to so the throatlatch is in the proper spot

Looks fine, material is a bit rough
This halter is perfectly serviceable and looks just fine on my boy. The breakaway does indeed break, and pretty easily for that matter, it's definitely on the thin and chintzy side. The material surprised me in that it's a bit rough would borderline hard edges to the point that I'm seriously considering getting some kind of fleecy covering for the nose band. I have no doubt it would rub the hair off if he spent more time in it.

Nice halter, but does not match Baker blankets
Giving 4 instead of 5 stars because this halter - which is tan with black and lavender plaid - doesn’t match the traditional baker plaid blankets and sheets. Disappointed that item does not match my blankets, but quality is good.

Good Looking Halter
This is a great light weight "at home" halter. Would not recommend using this as a shipping halter where absolute security is a must but I love the Baker plaid look for everyday use.

I like these a lot. They hold up well to 24/7 use (and these horses love to play). The nylon is stiffer which I actually prefer because it creates less pressure on their poll/face. The leather of the crown piece is soft right out of the box and is long enough to accommodate many different size heads. It's true to size (cob fits my 15.2 & 15.3 TBs perfectly, horse fits my 16-17.2hh group). I love how the clasp on the throatlatch still works even when it's coated in mud (other halter's the clasp gets jammed with mud). Overall, these are awesome. I think I found my new go-to breakaway halter!

Looks amazing on bays

Good turnout halter
Bought this halter as a backup turnout halter and it is so nice that I made it worthy of an every day halter. It was a tad stiff to start with, but after a few days of rolling in the mud and then getting cleaned, it is looking and wearing wonderfully.

Poor Quality- not Baker Plaid
I ordered this halter 5 plus years ago and loved it. This halter I just received is a cheap imataion! It is a tan and black halter, true Baker plaid has navy in the plaid. Faux brass as well. The head piece is thin, and one jerk and I'll be replacing it. What happened! So disappointed!

Love it, but snap rusted quickly
I *love* this halter... but I've had it for about 1.5 months and already the snap is rusting. It won't swivel anymore. I've applied WD-40 and other agents to try and get it moving again, but no dice. It's a bummer... but it still looks pretty awesome;)

This is my favorite halter!!!
I bought this halter because I wanted a breakaway halter that is a different color. I fell in love with this halter!!! It has held up great even with games like halter tag. It is extremely durable to say that the leather is thin.

This halter is awesome! This is the second one I've purchased (the previous one was purchased for a large horse.) It's super cute and looks good on almost any color horse. My only complaint is that the noseband isn't adjustable.

Looks great but breaks too easily.
The Baker Breakaway halter looks great and works well...perhaps too well. The leather strap, which is very thin, broke the first time I used it. My horse barely pulled and it broke. Then I had to go catch him because he was loose. Thankfully, I brought a back up halter. I'll be looking for a thicker replacement strap. Not sure I would purchase again.

Bought in 2013 - still going!
I own a large hanoverian warmblood with a stocky build. I tried 4 halters before this one, and this is by far the best fitting. I purchased the halter from SmartPak in 2013 and have used it as an everyday barn halter since. We are going on our second leather crown piece (our stall & pasture partner is 1yo and uses the ends as a chew toy) but the nylon and hardware are in perfect condition. As usual, a Baker product that fits and lasts. I highly recommend.

Love!
I have had the hardest time trying to find a nice, well-fitting halter for my Belgian/QH mare. She is very hard to fit! Her head is too small for an oversize, but most horse size halters were too tight in the throat. I decided to order this because I love Baker products, and since some of the reviews said the horse size seemed generous, I felt like it would work. This halter fits her perfectly, and has held up to her beating it up everyday as well. I will say that it is more generous than your average horse size halter, so take that into consideration when picking your size.
