Very nicely padded, these are great!
I bought one 1 month ago and the day it arrived, my barnmate’s halter broke She is now really happy with her new well padded halter crown piece. And I ordered another one the same day. During Covid, it’s hard to find replacement parts of various items, so I wanted have this on hand.

These are nice quality. They’re a bit stiff to begin with, but I would expect so. They’re a perfect replacement for the crown pieces on the turnout halters I usually buy from a local tack shop.

One of the dogs at the barn chewed up the padded headstall on my new $85 leather halter, so I needed a padded replacement that at least looked similar to the rest of the halter, and didn't cost me almost as much as a new one. This head piece was perfect! Quality is good and the color even matched! Very satisfied!

Buyer Beware- Brown is VERY Dark
I purchased the brown crown piece. I received and it looked VERY dark. I actually thought it was black. I contacted SmartPak to state I received the wrong color. I sent pictures and they agreed. They were kind enough to send a new one. Unfortunately it was the same one in this DARK color. Just beware it is dark before purchase. The quality of the leather is nice and supple. The padding area is nice, but the sides where it "straps" into the halter can be a bit better.

Sadly it broke too easily
My huge moose of a horse slowly backed up in the cross ties, this crown piece broke (day 2 of his having it) and then he walked over for grass. There was very little pressure put on it before breaking. While this nicely padded crown looked great, the breakaway, broke too easily.

Fit great, and sturdy.
Used it for the trailer Sunday, it was just what I needed. It fit great, was much sturdier than the one I got from another site, and came in black, which matches my leather halter!

Soft leather, seems substantial
It's definitely cushier than most halter crown pieces I've come across, but most importantly seems like the reinforced stitching might stand up to my boy's antics. Here's hoping!

Eh, it's okay.

Bought this to replace the crown piece on my SmartPak halter. I got it on Tuesday and it was broken by Thursday. The leather was not the same as the halters and was thin. Would not recommend.

Poor quality leather.
My gelding broke the crown of his leather Plymouth halter (by SmartPak) recently and I ordered this replacement. It matches the chocolate color of the Plymouth halter well, and the padding is fine, but the leather itself is very thin and very weak -- especially when compared to the Plymouth leather! I have a feeling my geriatric cat could break this crown piece's leather. When this one inevitably breaks, I'll buy a different brand.

Poor Quality
Replacement Crown strap arrived 06/22/17. On 06/23/17 put it on halter & fit well. Then took mare to horse-shoer at Pioneer Equine Hospital to be shoed. Mare pulled back & crown strap broke instantly. Horse-shoer commented that the leather was pretty poor quality & I agreed.

Nice Crown Piece
I bought this to replace the original crown piece on my breakaway halter (my horse is on pasture rest, and he broke it in less than a week). This crown piece is very well made. I love the padding, and the leather is much sturdier than the one that originally came on my halter. My horse is a cob size, so I had to put some extra holes in to make it fit him, but I am very happy with the quality. We're going on almost a month of 24/7 use now, and it's still holding up great.

totally worth it
At the local tack shop a thin unpadded replacement crown piece is the same price as this one. My gelding has been using it for a few weeks and it seems to be durable and of high quality. The padding feels nice and it rests comfortably behind his ears.
