When magnesium alone did not work
I have a mare that was at the track for years. She is in new career training, and she is more reactive than I thought she should be. She, like many OTTB, has a history of ulcer treatments which makes me think that her hindgut isn't what it should be. I have her on a diet that is better for ulcer prevention and treatment which also meets all of her magnesium and B vitamin needs. Despite this, she still had some quirks that don't seem to be in line with her bloodlines or work ethic.
We tried a magnesium only product and that did not have an effect on her. I did some research at the KER website and it indicated that thiamine with magnesium were effective for calming some horses and they had found that many race horses were vit B deficient. KER's product was only available in Australia so I started looking for something similar in USA. Grand Calm has very similar ratios of magnesium and thiamine so I started her on it. Within 7 days there was a DRAMATIC difference. While she is still a former racehorse, she is much more appropriate with her responses. She is noticeably less fussy in the trailer and cross ties. She is not nearly as worried in her stall. (She has always been good with turn out so I can't see a change there.) She is bred to run so I won't say that she is now a kid's pony LOL but she is settling in much better. This product is well worth a try.

Made my horse hotter
The pellets seem palatable, but they had the complete opposite effect - my horse was hotter and more reactive on them. I gave it over a month, then switched him back off. He's back to himself now that I've stopped giving this to him. I know other people who've had great success, but just be aware this is a potential outcome.

WOW, it's like my horse smoked a huge joint!
I am using this on a 6 year old Arabian, not because he is bad but during training, he can become easily stressed and has some triggers that he has a hard time coming down from. So far, he is relaxed, ear cocked, licking and chewing and totally chill during our lunging sessions. I have not tried it yet before riding but believe this will give me the boost I need to get more focus and achieve the next level in his progress.

I’m a believer!
I used this product to help a nervous horse ship cross country and adjust to a new home. This product definitely helped to turn down the anxiety level. What would have been panicking, pacing and pawing was toned down to concern, curiosity and alertness. The horse still rode terrifically well once settled. When we needed a little more “help” with the settling, we used the paste version (1/2tube). What a fabulous product for horse shows and trailering. I’m a believer.

Best calming supplement so far
I have a quarter horse that is fidgety and sometimes a bit nippy. This calming supplement really calms him down and puts him in a good place.

Fantastic for anxiety management.
My mare is an OTTB who is now a jumper and this has helped her relax and focus on her new career. Love that it's easy to feed, not super expensive, and show safe.

I can see a difference
My horse has been on this for about a month. He's very nervous, this hasn't 100% taken that away, but it's taken the edge off.

Really helped
We have been feeding this to my very sensitive, reactive gelding, it has helped so much! I'm hoping the longer we use it there is even more relaxation. Fingers crossed

An absolutely super calming product!
I used this on my Arabian mare several years ago. It took about a month to really kick in. Now I have a National Show Horse who can get very hyped. It took a few months to start working but he is like a new horse. Still himself, but considerably calmer. And as a result, he is more playful and loving. It has allowed him to really blossom. Like everything else with horses, he started eating the pellets by hand and then tired of them. Now I add a little bran, flax and coconut oil to the pellets and he can't wait to get this mix in the morning.

Helps Improve Focus Most of the Time
I was skeptical of the need of a calming supplement until I bought my current horse, a now three year old half-arab that I am doing dressage with. His baseline personality consists of being very emotional with extremely over the top negative reactions to new things. He's also inattentive while under saddle, and is more interested in looking at every dark spot in the arena footing that listening to his rider. I started him on a hand me down calming supplement when I got him back from being started under saddle, wasn't sure if it was doing anything, and decided not to replace it when it ran out to see how things went. The result was it became a real struggle to get productive work out of the horse (even on the longe line), and as result he has been on Grand Calm for about 3 months now. I still have a decently long walk warm up to get his mind in the right spot before getting down to work, but overall this supplement makes my horse noticlebly more rideable. He still has days where he struggles to focus, but they are few and far between. Some of his improvement is likely him maturing, but there was a noticeable difference in his attitude the day after starting this supplement. It is comparatively affordable, show legal and effective and it will definitely be my go to calming supplement in the future. Side note, my picky eater eats this with no problem.
