The American Hanoverian Society Announces Awards Partnership with SmartPak™

Lexington, KY – May 11, 2009 - The American Hanoverian Society (AHS) is pleased to welcome SmartPak, provider of the popular patented daily-dose SmartPak™ supplement service, as a title sponsor of their year-end awards program, designed to recognize outstanding riders, trainers and breeders of Hanoverians.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to support the American Hanoverian Society," said Colby Balazs, Vice President of Marketing at SmartPak. "The SmartPak supplement system is used by hundreds of AHS members and we're honored to be a sponsor of the awards program recognizing the success of those AHS members and their horses."

SmartPak Equine was founded in 1999 with the purpose of simplifying the administration of nutritional supplements and medications to horses. The patented SmartPak™ supplement feeding system has been adopted by thousands of barns and horse owners across the country, who value knowing that their supplements will be fed correctly. It has been embraced by riders from all disciplines and all levels, including seven Olympic medalists. In addition to the SmartPak supplement system, the company offers a broad line of horse health and rider items, dog supplies, and equine and canine pharmacy items sold through the company's catalog and web site. For more information about SmartPak, visit www.SmartPak.com or call (800) 461-8898.

SmartPak's sponsorship of the AHS will be made through support of the Reserve Champion year-end awards for competition years 2009, 2010 and 2011. The American Hanoverian Society Awards Program was developed to reward Hanoverians competing in sport. It has evolved over the years and recognition is now given for top-placing horses in dressage, hunters, jumpers, eventing, hunter breeding and sport horse breeding. In dressage, 36 divisions are rewarded in the Hanoverian All-Breeds Awards presented in conjunction with the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) for all levels of competition including freestyles. The AHS also recognizes the top Hanoverian hunters and jumpers competing in all of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) recognized divisions including the hunter breeding divisions. For eventing, the AHS awards a High Score Award at each of the five levels of the sport recognized by the United States Eventing Association (USEA) and the USEF - from Novice through Advanced. For the sport horse breeding, the AHS tracks the points earned by Hanoverians competing in USDF breed shows and honors the highest scoring young horses - both fillies and colts, the highest scoring mature mares, and the highest scoring stallions (AHS licensed).

"The American Hanoverian Society is very grateful to SmartPak for sponsoring the year-end Reserve Champion awards so that we can offer more recognition to the horses and their owners and riders who are out there doing well in the competition arenas," stated Cathy Tucker-Slaterbeck, chair of the AHS Awards Committee. "The AHS Awards Committee is very excited to be able to offer this new 'level' of awards for all of our year-end competition programs. We look forward to working with SmartPak for the next three years and thank them for their very generous sponsorship!"

Specifically SmarkPak will offer a Reserve Champion award in each discipline and in every division in which the AHS recognizes. Each award consists of a gift certificate worth $125 total ($75 in supplements and $50 toward anything from the SmartPak catalog). The AHS will present the gift certificates to the winners at its awards banquet held during the AHS Annual Meeting. SmartPak will also donate a $100 gift certificate for the 2009, 2010, and 2011 AHS Annual Meeting Silent Auctions. For more information about AHS membership or programs, www.hanoverian.org.
