Why We Love This

The M. Toulouse Verona Monoflap Saddle provides a closer feel to your horse with its monoflap design.  M. Toulouse saddles are hand crafted from natural, tanned, pigmented, aniline-finished high-quality leather.  The leather is a natural product and as a result, stronger and more durable.  Designed by Marcel Toulouse, Master Saddler in France.

    M. Toulouse Verona Monoflap is rated 3.9231 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice Price The saddle looks nice and the price is nice. I didn't put it on my horse because the panels were to close and would impinge on my horses spine. When you put the saddle on your horse, put your hand all the way through and make sure the panels are not pressing on your horses spine. It is hard to recommend this product since I didn't ride in it and it didn't fit to begin with. I may work for you and your horse.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wanted this to work so badly! I loved this saddle on paper! I loved the deep seat and exposed knee rolls and I was very optimistic. Unfortunately, the flap is waaaay too short for my 5'10" self. My knee hit below the knee roll and put me in a very odd position. My saddle fitter was not impressed with the way it fit my horse, but was very impressed by the quality of the saddle. I wish it had worked out, but I did use the test ride system. I would recommend this saddle to a more petite person because there is no option for a long flap.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Saddle From Outer Space Did a test ride on this saddle and was very excited for it come. Everyone gave it great reviews and for the price it matched all of my requirements (external block, deepish seat, monoflap, and it does come in a genesis version). When it arrived it was in great condition and I really liked the saddle. I was a little nervous that the seat wasn't deep enough and that the thigh blocks were too straight. The wide tree was too wide for my horse (which might have contributed to the weird balance of the saddle) but I downright hated it from the moment I sat down in it (felt very perched like a jump saddle). I had to shorten my stirrups by 5 holes (!) to hit the thigh blocks and even then they were rubbing my knee and the skirt (but not piping) of the saddle was rubbing me weird. I couldn't really tell that it was a monoflap because I was too busy getting my legs to cooperate with the thigh blocks. The actual seat was pretty comfortable but even posting was a serious challenge in this saddle plus my horse would not go forward in this. It wasn't that the thigh block was too big or was external it was that it went straight down instead of slanting. The saddle I have is a Thorowgood T8 which retails for a fraction of the price of most dressage saddles and maybe I have been spoiled by how comfortable it is but it felt like a huge downgrade. If you want a great, low-budget saddle check out the Thorowgoods; they are adjustable, have interchangeable blocks and are incredibly comfortable. The M Toulouse may be great for shorter legged riders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saddle I love this saddle! The leather is very soft and grippy and my horse moves very well in it. It keeps me in a great position too. The quality is similar to saddles twice its price. I was concerned about the monoflap- i.e. would I like it, would I need a shorter girth, etc. I love it. I feel very close to my horse and I love the contact it provides. This was a great choice for me and a very nice price-point.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NIce saddle but did not work for me. I was excited to get the saddle but sadly it was not for me. The fit on my Reg. Paint mare was okay but it was uncomfortable for me to ride. The stitched edge flap as other's have said really rubs your thighs and makes it uncomfortable to ride. With time I could see it wearing nicely perhaps. I have a left knee and right hip problem and the saddle made those issues worse which is why the saddle doesn't not work for me. I had to return it. I have since found an adj. Laser which is much better for me and gives me no hip pain when I ride, also fit my mare better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very comfortable! I have a 7 yr. old, medium withered, wide TB. (no, she's not fat : ) I purchased the 17.5 seat size, wide tree. I have been riding it for about two weeks now. The saddle fits my horse very well, my horse is not quite flat backed, but she is pretty close to that, and the saddle sits well, no rocking front to back, or slipping side to side. plenty of gullet clearance as well. Good shoulder clearance too. She has very nice movement with this saddle and seems to be very comfortable with it.As far as the fit for me goes, I did not have any problems with the piping on the saddle as other users did, so maybe they have fixed that issue. I found the seat to be very comfortable, with a good amount of padding. Its as comfortable as my trail saddle that has a memory foam seat, but at the same time I don't feel like Im out of touch with what she is doing- I still feel good contact with the seat and I like the monoflap. I have no pressure points on my seat bones with this saddle. The seat sizing runs large in my opinion. I should have ordered at least a 1/2 size smaller, because the seat is flatter than expected . it doesn't look that flat in the photo, Im used to a deeper, more curved seat- my other dressage saddle is a 17.5 Sommer Esprit. I am 5'4", 115 pounds, 34 inch hips. However, the seat feels nice and secure due to the grip of the buffalo leather and the seat padding, so its not a huge problem, but if I buy another one Ill order it a bit smaller! My horse is young and occasionally gives a little buck, and I have had no problem staying in this saddle, so I think that's pretty good. I love the big exposed knee rolls for the same reason! When she decides to suddenly stop - I can stay right with her. I find that this saddle keeps my leg in a good position without extra effort. With a wide, round horse, with big movement, its sometimes tough to stay in balance but this saddle has been great. I think the twist is wide, but I expect that with a wide tree.I have found that the leather cleans up very well- just wipe with a wet cloth. Ive seen other saddles made of buffalo leather and I have not liked them because they didnt clean up well- but this saddle is the exception.only 1 real issue with the saddle so far, and that is that the thread that attaches the panels under the saddle to the monoflap has come loose at the tip of the panel on one side. SO the panel on one side has become detached from the flap at the bottom. I sent a photo of the problem to Smart Pak and they are having me return the saddle to the manufacturer for repair. No charge to me for this, but I will not have a dressage saddle for my horse until its fixed and returned. Hopefully this will not take long. I will report back on this as things progress! Even with that I still like the saddle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This saddle was a keeper This is my third Dressage saddle and the one that works best for my mare and me. Thank goodness for Smarkpak's test ride program, as I was able to try out this saddle, prior to making a purchase (which I wasn't able to do with my first two saddles). This saddle is nice and wide, so my mare has ease of shoulder movement - and she is moving out nicer in this saddle than she was in our KN or County saddles. It also allows me to have the correct postion, I was having to use a riser pad with the other saddle, in order to get the correct position. This saddle is affordable and comfortable. It does seem to get bit dustier than my other saddles, but that could be due to the fact that it's leather is a bit "stickier". Truly not an issue, just wipe it off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saddle Took awhile to get used to. Had the 17" and was running into knee blocks. Moved up to 18" and all lis wonderful. Takes some time to get used to it, but it puts me in a great postion, my horse loves it and it is a great saddle for the price point.
