SmartDark & Handsome helps bring out a deep, dark shine in black, bay, and brown coats. This unique formula provides a targeted combination of ingredients specifically designed to help horses maintain their most beautiful coat color. Flaxseed serves as a high-quality source of omega 3 fatty acids, which support healthy skin and a shiny coat. Paprika, a spice rich in beta carotene and other antioxidants, supports a deep, rich coat color. Finally, 5 mg of biotin and minerals such as copper and zinc support a healthy, resilient haircoat. Plus, it contains fenugreek for a delicious flavor and aroma your horse will love! SmartDark & Handsome is ideal for horses with black or dark bay coats, but may also be helpful for any horse that has a coat prone to sun bleaching. I wish it was a good option for me
I had my two bay geldings on this and I liked the results, their coats were deep and shiny. One horse would pick around it some days others he would eat it. However, I had my black filly on a half dose of this and because of the algae, her T-3 (thyroid) value was over 300 when it was supposed to be under 80. After spending a week at UGA hospital and tests sent off to Cornell to confirm and investigate, this supplement was found to be the source of that issue. I took my boys off of it in case it was also affecting their thyroid. Once I stopped this supplement and retested her levels a few months later, her T-3 was normal again. I am sad that this did not work for her because she is black and lives to sunbathe… so gets pretty unbleached. This was such a great option because it came in smartpaks, was affordable, and didn’t contain prohibited substances for competing.

It works!
My horse has been on this for a year and I am AMAZED. Last year around this time when we clipped him he was a dingy gray (he’s black). My trainer clipped him yesterday and I didn’t even believe he was clipped until I pet him and felt the hair. He is still black!! No other changes to diet or doing anything that would change the color besides this supplement. It was one of those things I always figured might be working but I couldn’t really tell. I am completely convinced. Incredible difference!

It really does work!!
Wow!!!! I thought this was a gimmick, but it really does work.
2 months on this product my bleached out black horse became a black shiny coat again!!!

Please start packaging in 20lb refill bags
I switched from Black as Knight and this product seems to work, and is a little bit more cost effective considering I have five bay horses on it.
I do wish the product came in a 10 or 20lb refill bag so that I am not disposing of a perfectly good bucket every month. It would cut down on waste and maybe even cut the price a little. Smartpack, will you please start packaging in more eco friendly bags?

Really made a difference
I started my mare on this supplement about two months ago, and the change is really noticeable. She's never been this dark and shiny so far into the spring! I'm very impressed with the results.

Horse refused to eat
I was really excited to try this product and my horse would not touch any of her grain with this supplement in it. She went 2 entire days without eating so I had to pull the supplement and scrub clean her grain bucket before she would eat again. I had high hopes, but with my horse it was a no.

He would not eat it
Unfortunately my horse refused to even finish is grain when this supplement was added in (which is nuts because my boy lives his life for his feeding time!). I'm not sure what he didn't like about it, he eats his smart hoof pellets just fine.

Works wonders
Bought this for my 4 year old rescue TB. His coat was so bad from bad nutrition and care. We tried this and he is definitely dark and handsome. He went from a light brown to a dark gorgeous bay.
