Best Fly Sheet!
I recently bought this fly sheet and I think it's the best fly sheet I have ever bought! It's super lightweight, covers a lot, the material seems strong, it doesn't seem to rub shoulders at all, and the belly bands have elastic! I bought this for my gelding as the flies are still out and he has started growing a winter coat and I wanted to find a fly sheet that wouldn't make him sweat. I don't think he has sweat at all with this fly sheet on! My only complaint is that the belly band is quite large and my gelding has peed on the belly band a few times now. I have the front straps on the tightest holes to hopefully keep the fly sheet more forward to prevent him from peeing on the belly band and it seems to be working! I wish the belly band was fully removable so it would be easier to clean when he pees on it. I still love this fly sheet and will be buying this fly sheet for my mare for next season!

My Mare who hates clothes LOVES this sheet!
I was skeptical that anything so shear and breathable could last but it is amazingly strong and durable. My mare is hot natured so she doesn't like to wear blankets or sheets but she has "accepted" this sheet ...no, she actually thanks me for putting it on in these hot, muggy, buggy evenings in Florida . Note that I have elected not to use the neck cover at this point because it has been a "dry" summer so far (i.e., fewer mosquitos than normal) but will save it for "rainy" months to come.

My all time favorite fly sheet!
I couldn't be happier with this sheet. It is light, breathable, and great quality! I did cut the liner out of the shoulder area, but I always do that to give her a little more air flow. Highly recommend!

Great Fly Sheet
Bought this hoping it would help protect my gelding’s skin, especially belly, from gnats and flies. I love the light weight of the sheet and the belly band is definitely helping. The material is a nice quality and it is well made. Hoping it holds up to heavy use, but so far so good!

Great for mares!
I like the light weight material and it really keeps the biting flies off! It runs a tad large. My only complaint is that the belly flap is too long and when I put this on my gelding, it was so far back that he could drop to pee :-/
So I put it on a similarly sized mare and we are good to go. Of not, it was the proper size for him and not too large. The belly flap needs to be about 6" shorter to accommodate position of sheaths!

Nice lightweight fly sheet
Thanks to SmartPak’s excellent return policy I was finally able to find a lightweight sheet that works for my large gelding. The fine mesh provides good airflow and the neck piece stays up very well. The sheet stays in place too! Four stars instead of five only because the drop is a little short and belly band barely fit even after being let out completely. This was a recurrent problem with the sheets I tried with some of them not even going halfway around his stomach! Yes, he has an ample girth, but a few more inches of adjustment is in order.

My horse has a bad sweet itch problem. This fly sheet is a life saver. The mesh is fine enough to keep gnats out, plus it has a nice, wide belly band. I bought 2 of these fly sheets so I can alternate them, so there’s always a clean one available.

Tried and true
I have tried five different fly sheets inthe last year. This meets the most criteria. It is tough without being overly hot. The fine mesh keeps the bugs at bay where it covers, as well as prevents excessively scratching. I have altered it a bit by adding a tail holder and also changed the leg straps to a butt strap. It does not rub the withers the way some attached neck sheets do. The triple strap belly band prevents rubbing. This is my second one...my back while I wash the first one.

Was so excited, now so disappointed...
Fit seemed great and I was excited that they didn’t seem any hotter than without it on. But within 24 hours one belly strap broke and within 2 days both horses had horrible shoulder rubs- an issue I never get even in winter. If I had a size up they would be engulfed- I don’t think the shoulder gussets are appropriately placed for compact but lanky highwithered TBs. Also, I tried to toss it in the wash to package and return and all the writing came off and it didn’t get clean in the least. Looked worse after washing! I usually love this brand- they are on the right track with the fabric, but for this price point I shouldn’t have to worry about rubs and straps that break immediately.

Well made, but....
I love Shires blankets and sheets. Bought this one for my new horse. Put it on, it fit correctly....and by the next morning all the hair is rubbed off his shoulders. There is no way I dare put this back on him. As I look at the inside of the sheet, where the shoulders are lined, the gussets are very rough even though lined. I'm torn with this rating....it is well made and of quality materials and I want to love it, the sheet just has a fit issue with being rough in the lined shoulder area. Other than that, it is fantastic.
