Rubber Rein Stoppers is rated 3.7037037037037037 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look good and keep my martingale in place Great for any set of reins. A little tricky to get on but get the job done

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for me I was a little worried about getting these because of some of the reviews, but I really needed them, so thought I'd give it a try. These were very easy for me to get on my reins. The time from when I took the stoppers out of the package to when I was putting my bridle away again was probably less than 20 seconds. (Based on the other reviews, it sounds like the trick is to make sure the rubber is warm and pliable, and with the 90 degree temp today, I was set to go.) Great item for a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! These rubber rein stoppers don't look quite as nice as the leather ones on some reins, but they are the perfect solution for reins that don't come with stoppers. They are inexpensive and work just fine. Mine came in August and had been sitting outside in the box all day when I got home and put them on my reins. Since they were rather warm, I had no problems getting them over the ends of the reins. Some reviewers had difficulty getting them stretchy enough -- I think the key is to make sure the rubber is warm and pliant. You can't beat these for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as bad as the reviews indicate Maybe I feel like these weren't as bad as the ratings indicated because I went in prepared. I threw them in hot water for 5 minutes and grabbed a hoofpick. They were softened (not a ton, but enough) from the hot water, and I managed to crank them on in less than 5 minutes. Works for me!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible quality I was very careful when trying to put these stoppers on my reins, but it still ended in disaster. It took me almost an hour to work the first stopper over the leather keeper on my one rein, and still, the stopper split wide open. The rubber is very rigid and doesn't give enough to allow the hole to stretch over the reins, so it cracks and splits. Very disappointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not my favorite I bought these when we switched my jumper to a running martaingale. They were stiff and not flexible at all. It took forever to get them on my reins and they ripped in the process. I went out and bought new ones that were flexible and didn't rip when they were put on. We literally hd to use a hoof pick and pull them onto my reins.I would most likely never buy these agin since they were soooooo stiff. They did there job, but they ripped and shouldn't have. I broke 2 of them before I bought new ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Haven't used yet I haven't had a chance to put these stoppers on my reins. I have to put them over the hook and eye at the beginning of the rein since mine don't unbuckle. The rubber seems stiff..so i'll try soaking it in warm water before trying to get them on. Sorry I don't have more to say..they were priced cheap so even if i dont' use them i'll hold onto them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stays put! You need to use a crowbar and a well muscled stableboy to get these stoppers on, but they stay all the way up by the bit and don't slide down your reins at all which is always annoying. Worth the purchase!
Date published: 2012-02-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really hard to get on These have almost no stretch to them and were very difficult to get on the reins. Took me about an hour and a pair of pliers, but their on there and sure aren't moving!
Date published: 2011-12-05
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tight! I had read the reviewes that these stoppers were tight, and they were right! IF you can get them on, they are great. I recommend using something to help glide the keepers over the rein. With the help of a friend and two Oster hoof picks, it was much easier. My reins are leather, laced.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Try Buying Another Brand I have now bought several sets of these, and they seem to be very tight and difficult to put on. I even warmed them in hot water before trying to put on my reins, and I ended up breaking 2 of them. At least SmartPak did send a free replacement (yay!), but what a hassle to have to wait another 10 days for one of these! Next time I will try buying from a different vendor - don't know if they're all the same brand or not. If you do buy these, do not force them too hard onto your reins - they will break!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your Normal Rubber Rein Stopper Patience and brute forced needed to get them on the reins. Made of tough rubber. Nice substitute if you don't want to buy new reins!
Date published: 2010-12-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! They work great. They don't slide around. They stay pretty much where you put them. I'm really happy with them.
Date published: 2010-12-07
Rated 3 out of 5 by from No place in my barn for these! These rein stops were much too stiff for me. They didn't slide on at all; much less on my rubber reins then my laced. They held up, being rubber, but they still don't fit. You can do better!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Standard and cheap! These Rubber Rein Stoppers are stretchy enough to slide over most buckles and still hold their shape. Does the job for a low price.
Date published: 2010-08-17
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit stiff I purchased these rein stoppers for my rubber reins. The rubber reins are thicker than most leather reins so making these rein stoppers fit was very tight. Nothing was wrong with the product but next time I would find the softest, stetchiest, most supple pair of rein stoppers to slide over the rubber on my reins.
Date published: 2010-05-10
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Torn upon insertion Rubber torn immediately while putting on reins that had leather stops. Luckily I purchased 2 pr. since they are very reasonable priced. So all is well.
