Mane & Tail:
Apply a generous amount evenly to wet or dry hair. Brush through gently starting at ends, working inch by inch up to roots, to prevent breakage and allowing the hair to remain long.LEAVE IN! Reapply as needed. If difficult brushing, add more until it's easy to brush.
Dogs:
Apply a few drops to matted/tangled fur. De-tangle, de-matt with your fingers. Remove excess with a towel. Apply after bath to prevent. Reapply as needed.
People:
Apply a few drops and distribute through wet or dry hair before brushing. Do not apply to roots.

Amazing product for those long haired-breeds
I heard about this project on Gypsy Vanner hair boards (yep, that's a thing when your horse can't see through its hair!) and those people sure know what they're talking about! After using a bit of this in concert with a tablespoon of the Manely conditioner (the Manely "shock treatment") repeatedly for two weeks, my 1/2 Gypsy's floor length tail has become shimmery white (and black) and completely detangled, eliciting multiple compliments from barn people. I need no additional detangling sprays and her white hair stays whiter as well, due to the extra hydration from the product (which helps to keep stain staining liquids like urine out of the tail). I am also using it on her mane to great effect to help repair damage done when she rubbed a significant degree of it out a year ago. As another reviewer pointed out, it also helps with those fluffy forelocks! I find that for equine hair it works better used in concert with the conditioner. The Manely people recommend using the conditioner diluted into a spray on treatment as a more daily regimen instead of constant reapplication of this product, after the initial Shock Treatment is over. This is a silicone-based detangling agent, so with repeated it may cause the hair to feel sticky. I have not experienced that with my horse's tail but her mane is slightly sticky. We will now wash it all out and begin using just the diluted conditioner for detangling.
Pro Tip - these products are also safe for use on humans! Now I find myself carrying this detangler in my bag back and forth from the barn to apply to my hair after showering. :) One small application to wet hair and my hair looks like I had a professional blow dry the next day!

Conditions without Grease
I have only had this product about a week so I cannot speak to the long term effects of it, but I have been really impressed by how much it has conditioned without getting greasy. I've used so much products that you put on and their neck near the mane just gets oily. My mare has a floofy forelock and I will put this on it and it seems to soak in and get conditioned, without looking oily or wet. I also got compliments on her shine :) I am excited to see what this will do to her mane and tail after regular usage.

Excellent conditioning for manes and tails
Mane-ly Long Hair Detangler Polisher Protector is the best mane and tail product I've ever used! It is non-greasy and leaves the mane and tail tangle free and so soft for weeks! I can literally run my fingers through my horse's tail. It adds body and fullness and does not attract dirt.
My horse, Lucky has a long ranch horse mane. He has a knack for coming in from the paddock with awful tangles. I squeeze some in my hand and run my fingers through his mane and tail and the tangles come out easily. It leaves his mane and tail much more manageable than any other product. I also like how other people who touch his mane say that Lucky's mane is softer than other horses.
It is a wonderful product! I don't have to use much and makes his hair silky and much less prone to tangles. It says it is good for dogs and people too. I will have to try it on my dogs next.

Not impressed.
I purchased this after reading all the great reviews. I have tried it several times, and it just doesn't absorb into the hair. It builds up and everything sticks to it. My horses tail gets so gross with shavings, dust, sand, you name it with this product in his tail. It also doesn't detangle very well. He does have course hair texture, and it just doesn't condition well for him. My other horse it does better, but still leaves his tail feeling stringy and sticky. I recommend sticking with Cowboy Magic and Showsheen.

Great detangler
My horse had a very sunbleached snd dry mane. Ive been using this once a week, and it has really put moisture back into the hair and also makes it smooth and shiny. Smells so good too!

Love this Detangler
I have been using this detangler for years. I rotate between this and the equifuse gleam. They are the best products on the market for friesian hair! I am so happy smartpak is finally carrying both! Manely long leaves the hair hydrated and silky for days and you only need to use about a dime to quarter sized amount.

Detangles and Streathens
I love this product! I have been using it for over a year now to keep my mare mane and tail strong and tangle free. It product helps get wind knots out of manes, removes burs from trail riding and keeps the hair healthier. I will always have a bottle in my grooming tote.

THE best detangler out there, by far.
I’ve used one product for years and thought it did a great job - that was until a friend shared her bottle of Mane-ly with me. SO much more bang for your buck. I use less, it applies easily and evenly, smells wonderful, and lasts longer than what I’ve been using. I’m won over. The riders at the barn who show heard I was using a new detangler and have been taking pictures of the bottle so they can buy it too.
