Swat Fly Ointment 4.8 5 10 11
Don't Leave for the Barn without it! I've used SWAT for over 10 years, and just can't say enough good things about this product! I was first introduced to it at the barn I used to board at when I had problems with small, biting flies that liked to get into my horse's ears and bite! I always felt so bad for him, because I constantly kept cleaning the bugs out of his ears, and he always had bite spots that were bleeding. I've always had to wear fly masks on him without ears, because he refuses to keep one on that has ears. SWAT works wonders when applied lightly inside the ears. It definitely keeps the biting bugs at bay! I also use it on my horse's belly, as small flies like to gather right in the middle of his belly and bite - the SWAT works there as well! I definitely buy the Clear formula, because I bought the Original once when the store was out of Clear--Never. Ever. Again! Although, I'll admit that the pink is easy to see, it's just a little girly looking for geldings...and all of my guys are...well guys! Highly recommend this product - whichever color works best for you, both keep flies away! January 29, 2013
This summer my filly cut open her leg really bad. She pretty much cut off her whole bicep muscle! She had quite a few stitches that kept pulling apart so it kept staying gooey(in August remember!) so he flies were just giving her a terrible time. The vet didn't want me putting ANYTHING on top of the stitches/open mess so that made fly spray not so much of an option. I got this during one of those emergency run-to-the-feed-store-as-fast-as-you-can days and it has really saved me so much pain! It was easy to apply however I do recommend using gloves! I also LOVE the smell! It smells like pink lemonade, I want to eat it! only problem is I had to put it on twice a day because it would dissolve or get rubbed off or something in the heat, anyway I had to put it on more than I wanted to but I really didn't mind that much. Does it's job Swat is helpful in my barn when used on the horse's skin that is threatening to break open due to fly bites. We battle summer scratches due to fly bites and Swat is the best arsenal for treating and preventing the fly bite scratches. October 18, 2012
My tack room won't go without it! This stuff really does work! It helps keep flies away from wounds as well as washes off nicely with no greasy residue, my gelding had a cut on his hip and I have no doubt that without this to protect the cut, it would have never healed because of the flies biting it, a must have for every tack trunk. Expensive, but well worth it! A few years ago, my mare caught her side on an open stall latch, and ripped a hole in her side that I could (and did!) fit my fist into. We stitched it up, but she ripped the stitches out, leaving a lovely, gaping hole just behind her shoulder. Naturally, this was at the peak of fly season, and the wound was impossible to cover. My vet recommended Swat to keep the flies out of it, and I'm so glad I listened! It's expensive, especially for such a little container, but it works like a charm. I especially like the fact that it's not greasy, nor does it stink! The BRIGHT pink coloring is a bit disconcerting at first, but it does mean that it's easy to see when it needs to be reapplied... I also have a pot of the clear formula, for the times when I care about people seeing pink spots on my chestnut! July 3, 2011
great stuff this is great to keep flies off of wounds....and it is also good for those little sores that are started by fly bites. July 6, 2010

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
