Think it worked? I've only used this product once so far, but I'm going to be doing the monthly 7 day purge for my mini mare who ingested stone dust. I can't say if it was this product, or the wetted hay extender mix, or the fact that after a week of barely eating or drinking she finally starting eating, once I started the extender, the sand purge and horse quenchers in her water the same day. We were discussing surgery once we realized what the problem was. Within 5 days of eating and drinking, her appetite slowly began increasing. My mare finally perked up and is doing much better. I started the product the day she got drenched by the vet and it was off and on for about 4 days before she started to come around. Now with some environmental changes and continued monitoring, she does not need surgery and is eating/drinking like normal. She didn't really like the product alone. She ate it without fuss, but when eating it alone she kept chewing like it was cow cud/stuck in her mouth like peanut butter or something. Once I mixed with the wet hay extender, she had no issues. Chewed a little more then normal, but not overly crazy like the first time. She is an air fern, so she will try and eat almost anything, this may not be the same for others picky eaters. May 6, 2013
Horse liked it! Our horse wouldn't touch Metamucil psyllium, so we ordered this combination. Hey, Mikey, he likes it! Worked great. April 12, 2013
Horses didn't eat it I tried one tub and will not use it again. They picked through it and refused to eat if I fed dry. The ones I feed wet simply wouldn't eat at all. I've used Sand Clear before and never had that reaction, so I went back to it. Also , the stuff's more costly than Sand Clear. February 14, 2013
SmartSand Purge Won't buy this again. Horses and I like Sand Clear better and at a MUCH better price! I have 5 horses I'm treating and they ALL rolled the stuff around in their buckets - even after mixing and soaking with beet pulp. January 13, 2013
Finally I can't believe I found a sand clearing product for my mare. She is the most picky eater. I also loved the fact it supports her digestive tract at the same time. Would highly recommend! November 11, 2012
Best I've found I've kept my mare on regular treatments of psyllium for prevention for years. I'm always after the best, most effective products for my money and I was very pleased with SmartSand. It was tasty, it has the same amounts of pysllium as competitors, and it has added benefits that compliment the whole idea of digestive health. Along with my confidence in Smartpak experts, I would happily recommend this. November 3, 2012

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
