Instructions:

Equi Aid CW (pyrantel tartrate) is to be administered on a continuous basis with the horse's daily ration. Administer at the rate of 1.2 mg pyrantel tartrate per pound of body weight per day. To achieve this dose administer 0.5 ounces of Equi Aid CW per 250 lb of body weight. Equi Aid CW should be administered for the entire period that the animal is at risk to internal parasites. Unprotected animals that have grazed may already have an established S. vulgaris larval infestation. Before administering Equi Aid CW, these animals should be treated with a therapeutic dose of a larvicidal product. Foals may be administered Equi Aid CW at such time when consistent intake of grain mix is occurring. This is generally between two and three months of age. Equi Aid CW may be used in mares at any stage of pregnancy or lactation. Stallion fertility is not affected by the use of Equi Aid CW. TOP-DRESS DIRECTIONS: 1,250 lbs 2.5 oz.

Precautions:

CAUTION: Consult your veterinarian before using in severely debilitated animals and for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment and control of parasitism. Do not mix in feeds containing bentonite if you need to keep track of the level of pyrantel tartrate in your horse. Do not mix in feeds containing bentonite. Bentonite is a binding agent that is used in small amounts in many horse feeds and also sometimes in supplements, especially those that are pelleted. According to Pfizer (the manufacturer of the popular Strongid daily wormer) the warnings against feeding a daily wormer in conjunction with a product containing Bentonite, stem not from any contraindications or toxicities, but from the fact that Bentonite can skew the ability to analyze Pyrantel Tartrate levels (the active ingredient in daily wormers) in feeds. Bentonite will actually mask the amount of Pyrantel Tartrate in feed when Feed Mills and Graineries assay it to make sure that the levels are correct. They take samples of feed to make sure that the appropriate amount of Pyrantel Tartrate has been mixed into it and Bentonite can mask its presence. The manufacturer’s research shows that Bentonite does not have an impact on the horse’s ability to absorb Pyrantel Tartrate. WARNING: Not for use in horses intended for food.
