Didn't work well for me
The bit is high quality, very nice, but my horse didn't do well with it. I used it on a 100 mile endurance ride and had less brakes for the first 20 miles than with my trusty tom thumb bit. I was hoping it would give more leverage at the gallop, but it definitely did not. I would recommend this for a horse that is very light in the mouth and responsive to light pressure. Would not recommend it for stopping freight train arabians who are set out to win. :) No harm, it was worth the try.

Great bit in experienced hands
My mare is very suspicious of contact with her mouth due to choices made by a previous owner. She's most comfortable in a double jointed loose ring snaffle, but that's not really an option when she fires up cross country. She also has a low palate. We've spent over a year trying different bits and combinations of tack to make her comfortable but rideable. She can't handle any kind of a twist and gag bits made her panic.
I love this bit because it has the hackamore action which my mare respects. A lot of the time that's all she needs, allowing me to go on a soft contact even when galloping in the open. It also has the stop on the ring to keep the bit from sliding up the ring and acting like a gag. It acts more like a pelham. Everything about this bit urges the horse to put their head down rather than her old routine of flinging her head in the air when she disagreed with me. This means we've been able to ditch the running martingale and her noseband.
We get a lot of looks because it looks like a lot of bit, but when used by an experienced rider? This bit is very soft and my mare is very comfortable carrying it.

He stopped in this bit!
My big guy (17.1) is still spooky as ever, but at least now I can get him stopped when he makes a 180 to go the other way!
I was leery of getting something quite this strong from an eggbutt that he is used to going in. But it is only as strong as the rider's hands! I love it.

I love it!!!!!!!!!
I have a very forward moving, strong, crazy, hard mouthed thoroughbred mare. Have spent countless hours trying to get her to soften using a level one loose ring myler snaffle. I had some sucess but when she goes into hyper mode... forget it... it would turn into a tug of war game. I decided to try something different. I actually called the myler people and they reccomended I try this bit. It has made a big difference. It has a milder mouthpiece that rewards her when she is soft. The nose, chin and poll pressure evenly ditributes pressure so that you are not concentrating it in the horses mouth and gives the horse a chance to respond before the mouthpiece is engaged.. It worked great for my horse, within a few minutes of using the bit I felt a huge difference. She was no longer resisting the bit and she was softening up. I love the 3 rings that gives you the option of different degrees of leverage. This is definitley not a cheap bit, but money well spent in my book. My only complaint is that they don't make a brown leather noseband to match my brown headstall.

Training bit
I was having problems with my 10 yr old draft cross throwing his head and yanking the reins- we had tried side reins and nothing was working. My trainer suggested that we needed to try a bit with tongue relief. We looked at the Mylers and settled on the combo bit because it said that it worked well for young horses and retraining older horses. The first time I rode in the bit- the difference was immeadiate! The dispersal of pressure through bit, chin, nose, poll and the tongue relief - did the trick. Our rides are 100% better. I am amazed that this bit has worked so well. I did remove the cavesson on his bridle to make the bit easier to use and less bulky. The only detractor is that the chin strap is a vinyl/plastic. I would rather have leather, but it works. Overall, I am happy with the performance of this bit.

3 ring combo bit
Great bit for our Fjord. He seems comfortable in it and we have better control and finesse with him than ever before. The ring options are a super design and we couldn't be more pleased. Smartpak had the best price on this bit as well! Happy, returning customer.
