Nice bit, but a little too much bit for us
Purchased this bit recently because I wanted more half halt power and this bit received excellent reviews for just that. So stepped up from a plain D to this bit, kept soft hands but horse hated the bit. So unsuccessful for us & we went back to plain D. However, I did pass the bit on to another gal who also wanted a little more stopping power and it worked great! So at least it worked out for someone. Gave it 5 stars because nothing wrong with the bit, it's a popular bit, just didn't work out for my guy.

Great!
I really like what this bit does for my warmblood gelding! He was getting really strong with a kimberwicke so we switched to this. He's lighter on the forehand now and much better at jumper turns! Great bit!

Good bit--but not a true Corkscrew
As another reviewer said, this bit has only shallow ridges. It does not have much 'bite' to it and isn't going to be enough bit for a horse that usually goes in a "corkscrew." However, I do find it a really nice in-between bit that gives you just a little bit more bite without being too harsh.
If you're looking for a LOT of "whoa" this isn't your best bit. But it is a good, gentle corkscrew.

Good bit, not true corkscrew
I needed a corkscrew for my hyper mare, so of course I went to my #1 site, Smartpak, ordered the bit, and was very excited! Got it home and... the excitment left. The bit was very good and sturdy, but not a true corkscrew, I found it to be more of a slow twist. It's more of a corkscrew, but the ridges are very shallow, thus I quess it's more of a in-between bit. No dout nice, but not really a true corkscrew. None the less, I returned this one and bought a new one
