Herm Sprenger KK Ultra Aurigan Show Jumping Bit 5 5 8 8
This is a totally magic bit I have a totally hot wild woman liver chestnut mare, and have tried all kinds of things on her (even though previous horses went mostly in plain snaffles), most of which I didn't like. Once she improved a bit, starting working her on the flat only in a regular jointed snaffle, which was pretty damned hard work (and led to tendonitis in elbows). Anyhow tried this bit, and it was truly magic. Went soft and round, virtually effortlessly. So far only tried flat work, but am considering trying jumping small jumps soon (she gets super hot jumping). August 28, 2012
Expensive, but worth it Lovely bit and extremely well made. Used it for flat training with my young draft who was a bit heavy. Helped lighten him and only used it on bottom ring for short time (2 weeks) - now goes wonderfully on it on main ring. Fits true to size - hard to find a bit of this quality in 6" July 13, 2012
should have purchased years ago! I absolutely should have purchased this bit years ago, it lifts Rowdy up off his forehand without being too severe. He is relaxed and receptive and I could not be happier. July 5, 2012
Brilliant! Definitely worth the $ Wow! This bit far exceeded my expectations. Rowdy has a tendency to land very heavy on his forehand after a jump, preventing me from giving him an "out of hand" release. We ride cross country and jumpers and seconds count. This bit had him relaxed, receptive and in self carriage within moments of it first being in his mouth. It gives him no anxieties unlike some other bits I have tried, however it offers leverage and has "taught" him how to travel and land off a jump. Thank you Sprenger and Smartpak, I recommend this bit to everyone who needs more leverage without the severity, this is the bit for you. June 21, 2012
Best Bit I Own After trying many bits, my OTTB loved this one. I had never spent this much money on a bit, and I was skeptical, but I must say, it is totally worth it ! I really did feel the difference ! Great quality ! Can't wait to try another one from Sprenger KK. March 1, 2012
Terrific This bit is great- definitely worth the money. My horse goes great in it, whether its Stadium or Cross Country. Its a great step up from a normal loose ring because it gives you just a bit more leverage if your horse gets a little out of control (like mine). February 16, 2011

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
