EcoGold Stabilizer™ Half-Pad 3 5 3 3
Does not fit forward flap I bought this to fill in while having my other Ecogold pad repaired (which Smartpak refused to replace by the way when the stitching came out). It does not fit my forward jumping saddle at all. It would be fine for an all purpose or dressage saddle. April 4, 2013
It does its job I bought this pad for my son. He needed a very thin pad because his pony had really put on a lot of muscle and the saddle was pinching with the amount of padding he had been using. We had also had trouble with the saddle slipping. This pad fixes both problems. While the pad does fix those 2 problems, I am a little hesitant on whether I like it or not just because previous reviews made these products seem like the most wonderful thing in the world. I think the fleece feels cheap, although once on it looks fine. I am not sure that the pad protects any more than an average saddle pad and using it certainly didn't cause improvement in the way the pony used her back. If you need something to keep your saddle from slipping, this is a great pad. Likewise, if you need something thin. I would whole-heartedly reccomend this pad. If you are wanting impact protection, I am just not sure. We will continue to use this pad as it is doing better than the others. Overall, I am not positive or negative, I am just kind of lukewarm and it seems like an expensive half-pad to only be lukewarm about! May 31, 2012
Does What It Advertises, But... I was on the hunt for a no slip half pad in black. I heard wondeful things about the Ecogold, so I decided to give it a try. For anyone looking for an all black pad, please be advised that while the pad is black, the synthetic fleece is WHITE. It kind of ruined the whole idea of it blending in with my black pad for Dressage... And the fleece is definitley synthetic, almost cheap looking. And for anyone thinking "I'll just take a seam ripper to it and take off the fleece," be aware that the trim on the pad does not continue under the fleece, it is unfinished. (Yes, I tried it). Having said all of that, I must say that this pad not only was non slip, but my horse had the most even sweat pattern I've ever seen him have...he is very hard to fit! And despite the less than desirable quality fleece, the pad is well made and the stitching is even and tight. But, for the price tag, I expect a little better quality materials. November 5, 2011

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
