EcoGold Frictionless™ Dressage Pad 4.8 5 6 6
good/effective saddle pad I bought this pad, because I wanted a pad that was thin and would not change the fit of my saddle in any way. I like the fact that it is frictionless meaning my horse does not experience any effect from my any shifting of the saddle. It definitely prevents any lateral shifting of the saddle. I have a big moving 16.3 hh Swedish Warmblood and lateral shifting of the saddle and pad had previously been a problem. This is no longer the case. The problem I having is the front of the saddle pad is sliding under the front of the saddle when we do a lot of medium and extension work or focus a lot on transitions. The pad does wick away sweat quite well. He will be sweaty in other areas of his body, but not nearly as much directly under the saddle. The manufacturer is great. They have actually told me to return the pad to them and they will add an adhesive to the top of the of the pad to rectify the problem. They have suggested I buy the Stabilizer pad in the future. I will be following their recommendation. December 7, 2012
Great saddle pad! Every winter, my horse gets two bald spots under the saddle. We have tried everything: saddle fitter came out, Mattes pad, ThinLine pad, etc. This pad seems to be the best solution. I have been using it for approximately one month and the hair is growing back! Only down side is the cost, especially after having spent so much on the other pads ;) I wish I had tried this one first! April 2, 2012
Best pad ever This pad is excellent for the hot, humid days we have been having. It seems to pul the moisture away from the horse and it gets trapped in that middle layer. The middle layer dries really fast. After washing this pad (and it washed well) it was dry in 10 minutes. I love the fact that it is ultra thin as I was looking for a really thin pad.It also fits my horse really well. I bought the regular size not the large. and it works with my 17.5" dressage saddle. If I had a bigger saddle I would probably have purchased the large as I have a concern about that roll of fleece. I would not want the cantle of my saddle resting on that and possibly causing pressure. I am not sure what those fleece rolls are for, I suppose to stop the saddle from slipping? I bought a much cheaper pad in a knock off brand of this pad and I really like it. I got this pad because I was curious as far as the differences go (the knock off uses similar types of fabric) and I really like the knock off pad, especially for the price. But I have to say, this one is superior in wicking capabilities. The only drawback to this pad is the price, but I sew and there is quite a bit of detail to this pad as well as really nice fabrics that do what they are suppossed to. The pad does not slip, is indeed frictionless, and wicks moisture like none other that I have tried. August 6, 2011
GREAT PAD If you have a wiggly horse or a horse with small withers than this is an excellent option to tightening the girth soooo tight. A nice pad with thoughtful details like the lycra on the withers, and individually sewn billet strap keepers and it dries in a flash. Two things: VERY PRICY!! There is really no need for this pad to be that expensive and I wish it came in black. I have a gray mare and the black would look nicer than all the white. With that said it has been great for keeping the saddle in its correct position. May 4, 2010
No rubs! Every winter, my horse gets rubs in his winter coat at the back edge of the saddle pad/saddle. This pad is purported to prevent rubs, because it has a slippery, nylon type area under the saddle portion. And, right where he had no hair and it is starting to grow back, using this pad has not removed any of that new hair! So, I believe it does work to prevent rubs. The bonus is that it is very thin so I can wash it easily in my washing machine (unlike regular quilted pads that are too big and thick to really get clean). These are expensive so they would be a better value at a little lower price for what they actually are but I'm very pleased with the performance so far. March 17, 2010
This pad works! In the winter my horse grows an odd texture to his winter coat. Every winter I have a problems with him getting bald spots on his back due to this coat. This frictionless saddle pad was suggested to me by my coach. It really works!!! For the first time my horses back has no broken or missing hair. It is a thin pad, so I use an additional pad on top of it. I have no problems with the pads shifting. Nice to have a solution to an ongoing problem! December 21, 2009

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
