Custom Mattes Couture Ear Bonnets 4 5 2 2
Horse size is SO BIG!!! I was sooo happy when my ear net finally arrived...it's made super nice and the custom colors are great! The only bummer is that this thing is GIGANTIC! My mare is a 16.2h Hanoverian with a normal size head. She wears a horse size bridle. I really like the length of the crocheted piece that comes down on her forehead, but the ears are ridiculous. I'm taking her old ear bonnet (the ears fit perfectly, but the crocheted part barely goes under her browband on her bridle) in to the tailor so they can use as a template to "hem up" the new ears. Beautiful Bonnet, but HUGE!! & Long Wait I ordered this bonnet in Horse size after speaking with a Smartpak representative who assured me that Horse size was normal Horse size, not Warmblood size. I was considering ordering the Cob size one for my 16.2 TB who does not have donkey ears. Well, the bonnet finally came the 2nd week of October (I had ordered the first week of July). The quality is quite nice, the crochet is very well done and seems durable, although I've not had the opportunity to see how long it lasts. The big disappointment was that, although it was horse size, it was HUGE on my TB. It came the weekend after a show in October, so I didn't have a chance to use it until mid-November. The grooms wouldn't let me show in it & kept making the sound of a donkey, saying that's what it made my horse look like. Bummer, because it is a very lovely bonnet. At this point, I'm either going to give the bonnet to someone with a warmblood at my barn (who the bonnet actually fits nicely even though it is Horse size), or perhaps get it tailored to fit my horse. Wish I had just gone with the Cob size initially though. November 29, 2010

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
