Bradley Plus Soft Shell Knee Patch Breeches by SmartPak 4.7 5 3 3
Really great purchase! I have long been on the hunt for the perfect breeches, and being a larger-figured rider does NOT help. I'm also out of work at the moment, and so I was trying to find something good quality, comfortable, and affordable. This is actually the third pair of breeches I ordered from Smartpak (the other two didn't fit and I had to send them back), so I finally decided to go for the gusto and get these breeches, and I'm so glad I did! They are very comfy and warm inside and I love the wide waistband (fits belts of all sizes, doesn't roll) and the elastic cuffs (no more messing with velcro closures, just a smooth ankle to get into boots and half chaps). The only bad thing I have to say about them is that a few weeks after I got them I did a flying dismount and I think I must have hit the jump standard (wood), but when I got home that day I discovered that they'd ripped (the actual fabric, not the seam). I contacted Smartpak, though, and told them what happened and they are going to reimburse me for the tailor bill for getting them fixed! Moral: Smartpak is AWESOME. Also, these breeches are pretty awesome, too. I would definitely recommend them. March 8, 2013
Awesome breeches! I have trouble finding a good fit in a pair of breeches, and this is actually the third pair I've ordered from Smartpak in as many months! (I sent the others back because they were too small.) I was in desperate need of a good pair of warmer breeches (I'm in upstate NY) after my Cotton Naturals ripped and I was left with only one pair of TuffRider ribbs (which I like, they're just not very warm). I ordered a pair of breeches from Smartpak, but they were too small (the return was a breeze!), then I tried a pair of Bradley breeches but they were too small, also (again, return was a dream!). Finally I called customer service to talk to a real live person about breeches, and she pointed me toward these. I just got them last night and rode in them today and they are just about perfect! I love the ankle (not a velcro closure); it's just so much easier and they fit well in my boots and half chaps. The waistband is nice and wide for a wider belt (my biggest complaint with my tuffriders is that I had to buy a skinny belt specifically for them). The pockets are nice and deep enough for me to carry my phone around (when I'm not riding, I wouldn't trust it while I was in the saddle). The material is comfy and peached on the inside (nice and warm!) but smooth on the outside so it doesn't pill. I've only had them a day but they feel like they're going to last, too. I'm in love! Nice, but not for the pear-shaped. I *so* wanted to love these. They looked great on the hanger, were *very* nicely made, came at a great price point and were available in a range of sizes (I tend to fall somewhere between regular and plus sizes depending on brand). Unfortunately, these are cut for apple-shaped women. I have large calves and carry my weight in my thighs/hips. I'm glad I was at the retail store to try these and not shipping things back-and-forth, because I had to work my way up through *many* sizes to even get them on, and when I did, I could have--no exaggeration--fit a soccer ball in the waist band, the gap was so big. If you have slim calves and carry weight around your middle you will probably *love* these. I dearly hope SmartPak comes out with breeches made as nicely but cut for a different shape. Actually, that would make total sense wouldn't it? To be able to buy breeches by body *shape*? October 2, 2012
