A Few Inconvenient Features I bought these boots because of my price point. Ariat boots tend to be expensive, and I saw these. They definitely do run small. I recommend ordering up a size or try them on if you possibly can. The support in these boots are excellent. They are so comfortable and not painful. Breaking them in is a lot easier because they have fabric on the sides. There is less leather so they take less time to clean. Problem: Side fabric gets muddy and mud WON'T come out! I was catching a horse in the field and it was pretty muddy. The whole side of my boots were covered in mud. When I went home to clean them off, the leather was fine but the dirt is trapped in the fabric and won't come out. So for young riders in paddock boots and garters at shows, keep these boots clean looking because they are difficult to clean. That is one of the inconvenient features I noticed. I know this is supposed to be a new design, but next time I will stick to the all leather paddock boots. Another inconvenient feature is how much fabric there is. It's hard to get in the little areas of leather on the boots because there is so much of that thick fabric that traps dirt. Overall, excellent quality, Ariat never disappoints, but those few features made me go to 4 stars. April 11, 2013
Nice Boots Fit great, they feel like they will last. My all leather cracked at the toes after a year because I wear them all the time, even in wet conditions. But I think these will go the distance. April 8, 2013
Nice Boots, Can be Small I used to wear these boots with half chaps every day. I really liked the support they offered, but my Size 8s were too small around the top for my calves (and I wear a ladies size 0!). I zipped them up to the mid point around the curve upwards, and it offered me a much greater range of motion. If you're willing to deal with that or if you have very small calves, these are nice boots. They are very nice leather and easy to clean. March 6, 2013
So far so good I haven't had these boots long but they broke in really well and are extremly comfortable to ride in! My boots always take a beating and only last about a year or so, but recently my ariates have not been holding up! I believe my last pair made it about 6mos before the sole started to come off and the zipper broke. I like my boots to last so I am hoping that this pair of ariates hold up better February 26, 2013
Excellent boot for the money I bought these boots for winter wear, so they have to deal with mud and water. They are perfect; they were comfortable from the first wearing. They are waterproof, and I actually can use my hose to clean them off. I have only worn them for about two weeks, so I can't comment on the durability, but so far, in all other categories they are great. January 17, 2013
Poor Quality I ride up to 5 horses a day, and I decided that I wanted to get a pair of paddock boots for every day use in order to save my tall boots for shows. I purchased these boots after reading some good things about them, and after only a months use the zippers on both boots split! I would not recommend these boots. January 7, 2013

To Clip or Not to Clip I've heard that body clipping in the spring is "too late" because you're clipping over the newly growing in coat... What do you think? What's the best body clipping schedule? - Jessica N., Charlotte, VT
