Product Description:
APF is particularly valuable as sports nutrition to improve the adaptive response to athletic conditioning and to protect against the potentially negative effects of physiological and psychological stress.
APF aids in the development and maintenance of skeletal muscle.
APF has a significant, positive effect on energy regulation by improving the transport of glucose across the membrane of muscle cells and its subsequent conversion into high energy phosphate compounds. This effect is especially beneficial during intense conditioning programs when elevated cortisol levels may interfere with glucose entry into muscle cells.
APF has valuable anti-oxidant benefits, helping to reduce the damaging effects of oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can occur as a result of physical stressors, and as a result of exposure to a multitude of environmental factors. During oxidative stress, free radicals are formed. These molecules are detrimental to cell health and survival. In addition, mitochondria, which are the energy factories within cells, are damaged by oxidative stress. Researchers have recently found that preserving mitochondrial health is critically important for preventing disease, facilitating healing and promoting good health.
Immune Support:
APF has been clinically shown in a university level study to improve cellular immune function in horses who have been stressed.*
The horse's immune system plays a critical role in the defense against infectious diseases, parasites, and the development of cancer. The adaptogenic herbs in APF have a well-documented history in their ability to support cell-mediated immunity, especially in times of stress. Horses which have been stressed by intense training, shipping or environmental factors are generally recognized to be at greater risk of succumbing to infectious disease. Foals and geriatric horses are also at increased risk, and would benefit from daily use of APF. When APF is used daily as a nutritional supplement, the cell-mediated immune system is better able to respond appropriately to viral, bacterial and fungal challenges and to withstand the immuno-suppressive effects of stress.

Equine Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistance & Cushing’s Disease:
The herbs in APF are unique in their nutritional support for equine insulin resistant and Cushing's horses. APF's special formulation provides the following benefits:
• Stabilizes blood glucose levels (has an insulin-like effect)
• Helps prevent immuno-suppression due to increased or long-term cortisol secretion
• Acts as an anti-oxidant, exerting protective and/or inhibitory action
• Optimizes glucose utilization in muscle cells
• Promotes higher levels of ATP and CP in muscle cells
• Optimizes lipid metabolism (utilization of fats for energy production)
Instructions:
Directions for Use:
Auburn Laboratories, Inc. recommends administering horses 1-3 ml daily. Horses involved in heavy training, under extreme stress, or suffering from insulin resistance may benefit from 4-6 ml daily.
The product may be conveniently administered in horse's feed or administered directly into the horse’s mouth.
1 U.S. Fluid Ounce = approximately 30 ml, so a 4 oz bottle of APF contains approximately 120 ml
Therefore, a 4 oz. bottle will lasts 60 days when fed at a rate of 2 ml per day, will last 40 days when fed at a rate of 3 ml per day, will last 30 days when fed at a rate of 4 ml per day, etc.
