Causes and Care for Sore Hooves in Horses

Updated May 9, 2024

At SmartPak, we get a lot of questions about sore hooves, so we asked our Hoof Health Consultant, Danvers Child, CJF, to explain some of the causes of sore hooves. Sore hooves in horses can be caused by bruises, an abscess, laminitis, white line disease, and other issues. Danvers also explains why it is so important to get your hoof care professional involved and work together.

SmartPak strongly encourages you to consult your veterinarian regarding specific questions about your horse's health. This information is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease, and is purely educational.
